It's like telling a recovering drug addict, sorry you can't shoot up anymore buddy! Dur.
Not to say that everyone who gets wls is an addict but the analogy fits.
The most I've gotten is my dad saying he didn't want to eat tacos in front of me, which while I do wish I could eat some (am on full liquids rn) I told him not to worry. It's a matter of desensitizing for me and it's just a work in progress. My body, my choice - I don't need pity either!

Because you're not eating solid foods like you used to your Fiber intake has probably lowered. I regularly take fiber capsules. Before my surgery they asked me to drink a whole bottle of magnesium citrate which is an extreme laxative to clear the bowls before surgery. I wouldn't be afraid to take a few tbsps of Milk of Magnesia. No worries though, everybody has to poo. lol

Nope you guys sure aren't the only ones. I used to be a stoner. Now for special occasions although I'm all about it's medical uses too.
I'm barely day nine post op though so the thought of smoking hasn't really crossed my mind.
If I had more choices here I'd just buy those little vials of thc oil and drop em on to my tongue.

Just saying! I'm on day 8 post op and it's still a liquid diet for me. Just embrace it though! Head in the game for losing weight!

That is a very good question Bryn!
I had a friend with bipolar disorder that had a RNY three months ago. He lost around 70 pounds. I do not know what medications he was on or the dosages, but I am very sad to report that he committed suicide three weeks ago.
I am not trying to scare any one just send a message to keep your meds in check and regulated with your changing body.
Hugs
So sorry to hear that.
My condolences!
Definitely keeping my meds in check.

You FEEL like you could eat pizza, but let me tell you you can't hahahaha. My eyes are bigger than my stomach, so I'm the same way. I always think I can eat more than I actually can. Try to spread four ounces over an hour. That's what I was told to do during the liquid phase.
Same! My eyes are more ambitious than my stomach. lol

Just continue to try to stay hydrated - that's what I'm doin'.

Coming to you live from San Antonio, TX.
Just saying hey because I know how it is with a big Mexican fam that like to eat big around the holidays. It's in our culture!
Tamales, pastel de rosca, tacos galore, ooo elote.
Will we ever be able to have èlote again? This is a hot topic for me
Six days post op and would kill for some tacos de trompo.

I know you have to be taking Vitamins for months on months to build a stored supply in your body before you really start seeing effects!

Nice SN. I'm tense in Texas myself.
It's like being in a boat and knowing you might spring a leak but you don't know when! Save the ship!

Howdy!
If you had thin hair preop as it was like me you're probably extra concerned about Hair loss after surgery. I know I am.
What special measures are you taking to keep what ya got?
Right now I'm taking a hair, skin, and nails Multivitamin and focusing on getting 90-110 g of Protein and may also look into getting collagen supplements if it helps.
Just curious to see what you guys might be taking and about what's working and what's not.

Keep calling don't let them blow you off and let the process fizzle! This kind of happened to me several years ago.

I'm a week out too and I can do more volume of a Protein shake or broth than a cream Soup. Maybe it's the consistency!
I think it's just our bodily trial and error.
My only full liquid venture today was a restaurant size (smaller) cup of Tomato basil Soup but I felt really light headed afterwards cause I managed to finish it and maybe I shouldn't have. It could be maybe I was sitting next to a fire too and just needed fresh air! Or the stress of putting something different in my body who knows!
Just go slow! It's good to know I can still enjoy something I like just in a smaller quantity without being all gluttonous about it!

Thank you. How are you doing/feeling post op?
Good luck to you too! And I guess if you're not sleeping now you definitely will be later today/ or at least you'll be knocked out.
I'm on EST, so it's 4:30am here and I have to be at the hospital at 12:30 today. I feel the same way. I can't sleep. What couple of hours that I did get in, I was having crazy dreams. Good Luck to you and speedy recovery.Surgery is set for 8am tomorrow and I am having so many mixed emotions. Anyone else??

My doc prescribed me codine/Tylenol Syrup immediately out of the hospital which according to my dad, a pharmacist, works just like a strong cough suppressant.
I wouldn't see an issue with most over the counter cold med brands but I'd check with your pharmacist! Plus you're a month out so I wouldn't be so worried about the healing staples. Feel betta!

For me it was a book. I never had the chance since I was so sedated on pain meds for most of my stay!
My own pillow was definitely worth bringing.

Ice Cream Post Op

I had a little Halo Top ice cream within my full liquids stage, it was easy on the tummy and a nice little treat. But just a few spoons of it, one time. Wouldn't turn it into a habit!
