    I regret this surgery

It's a lifestyle change. Not a quick fix. My gastric sleeve was January 25th. I've lost 103lbs.. with procedure they explain how your taste and prior desire of food may change. You have went through a big decision for you and your quality of life. Have to take it one day at a time.. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I'm a paramedic/firefighter from St. Louis area. All my life,I've put others first in personal and career life. I've come to realize that all of the different diets and different exercise programs, Ifailed cause of me and no one else. I take responsibility for that. I have BCBS-IL and received the approval letter on Thursday the 5th. On Friday the 6th, I drove over theSurgeon's office and hand delivered the letter. Unfortunately, their computer system was down and the individual who schedules the surgeries was off. Needless to say, was a lil disappointed. When leaving my Surgeon's office, I actually ran into him. Told him what was up, I asked him, if I could go ahead and start my pre-op diet on Monday. He, pulls out his phone , looks at calendar and says yeah. He says, I'll have them schedule surgery for the week of the 23rd. So, I'm rambling on. My BMI Is 63, I'm 5'9 and weight 418, Apparently, cause of BMI, I need to be on a 14day clear liquid diet prior to surgery. Just curious if anyone has had to do this ? If so, what kind of things worked for you on the pre-op diet ? Also, has anyone ever gotten anxious or apprehensive as the surgery date gets closer ? Last question, with my BMI at 63. Can a person lose a significant amount of weight. Appreciate any feedback, my apologies for lengthy post. Thanks Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  6. Don't sweat the numbers, I had gastric sleeve on 1/25/17..at DesPres Hospital by Dr. Ricks. Great guy, he's professional, down to earth, friendly and great bedside manners. I had complications within weeks after my sleeve. Within two weeks I had pancreatits, then found out gallbladder wasn't functional, so two weeks post op from sleeve i had gallbladder removed. Now dealing with multiple kidney stones. Since march have had three operations to remove kidney stones. I'm from Illinois side, about 15 miles east of stl. Take things one day at a time, follow the guidelines and recommendations.. Your weight may vary, don't look at the scale every week, give it time.. Before surgery I weighed 422, three weeks prior to surgery went on clear liquids on day of surgery weighed 409, Day I was discharged weighed 403lbs, week later on first follow up appt was at 393lbs, on my last visit on 4/04 was at 358lbs , last time i weighed myself was on 5/8 i was at 348lbs.. so my point is, just take it one day at a time, keep pushing forward and just remind yourself of why you have invested within yourself with having a gastric sleeve. All of us wanna be at ideal weight or a point, but it's not a quick fix. You've invested into you again.. Can't change yesterday, but surely can change tomorrow.

    January 2017 Sleevers!

Just got home, from hospital. Had surgery on Wednesday. Kept me an extra day due to pain. My surgeon took pictures of the surgery at my request. Which was great to see. As they were doing the procedure found two tumors on my stomach. Those sent away to pathology, won't find out results until next appointment. Curious, if anyone has had problems with passing gas ? After the gastric sleeve. I haven't been able to yet. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow

That has been my question as well. All the doctors seem to do it differently and I'm sure they are doing what they feel works... but why isn't it more "across the board", ya know? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App Pre-Op Diet differs do to different reasons. Either BMI, past and current medical history. My surgery is Wednesday the 25th. I have been on clear liquid diet for two weeks. My BMI is 63, reason for two weeks of clear liquid diet. Higher the BMI and weight, longer the clear liquid diet. Surgeons basically want your liver and other organs to decrease in size, in preparation for surgery. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow

If your having headaches, could be the lack of sugar. My physician and the dieticians suggest when feeling low on sugar, drink 4 to 8 ounces of clear fruit (apple, cranberry or grape) juices to 4 to 8 ounces of Water. Once or twice a day if needed,,believe me it's worked. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow

Absolutely, no one really knows unless they're in our shoes. I'm on day seven of a fourteen day clear liquid diet, surgery is next Wednesday. After, about day four or five. It's becomes more natural. I still get the urge to bite into something, then I tell myself not to give in.. Just remember why were all here. To better ourselves and to start our new journeys. I'm drinking 3 to 4 Protein shakes a day, along with flavored waters, if I feel low on sugar: I pour 1/2 cup of clear fruit (apple, grape or cranberry) juices along with 1/2 cup of Water. Also, have sugar free carmel to suck on... Good luck everyone, just one day at a time.. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow

My surgery date is January 25th, for Gastric Sleeve Surgery in St. Louis. I started my two week clear liquid diet last Wednesday, im on day six. It's been rough, but getting through it. I've been adding lemon pepper to chicken broth, also two to three Protein shakes. I've been told not to add any red dye that's like Water flavors to drinks, was curious as to why not ? Guys who started over 400 lbs.

I'm Greg, Paramedic from Illinois. Currently am scheduled for Gastric Sleeve on January 25th in St. Louis. I'm 5'9, 413lbs , have been overweight all my life. To be honest, for years I didn't want to even think of having Bariatric surgery, cause I was under the impression it was an easy way out. Well, since November first I've been educating myself and have learned there's nothing easy about this decision or new lifestyle. I've always put others first in my life and love my career. Now it's time to save myself. My surgeon has already put me on a two clear liquid diet prior to my surgery. This is hard, but I'm committed, I'll admit have come close to cheating. This amazing thread I have found is worthwhile. Thank you. If anyone could offer suggestions or support would be greatly appreciated. I will post pics before and after, but to be honest I'm not computer savy.. Thanks again to everyone. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

  25. Schedule for surgery on January 25th. Doing Protein shakes, broths, flavored Water and fruit juices with 1/2 part water. Question, can I add teaspoon Peanut Butter to Protein Shakes or could I add artificial peanut butter flavoring or sugar free pudding mix ( just teaspoon) ? Trying to think of different ideas.
