  1. I have 10 pounds to my personal goal...if I got any thinner it would look nasty. Unless I have skin removal surgery. People have to remember they will in most cases have lose skin that can't be dieted off and can add a few pounds...more in some cases. I don't have rolls I have wrinkled lose skin that only skin removal will fix and dieting too thin just makes it worse. Hopefully next year I'll be able to afford the surgery. Cause it can be a bit depressing but I focus on my extra energy and how good I feel.

Good for you focusing on weight loss and energy levels. That lose skin is something that many of us will have to tackle at a later time. Right now all energy and focus needs to remain on losing weight and getting healthy...Congratulations again on what you have accomplished and continue towards your overall goal.

  2. Rachel the decision is really yours and it shouldn't matter what others think, especially if you do not know them. The surgeries were not available to me in my 20's. I did research them as they became available but I believed I could lose weight on my own. Last year I knew I was fooling myself about losing the weight on my own, I needed help. At that point I changed from a passive weight loss person to aggressively seeking help. After my initial seminar I came home and started to putt together my support team. My only request was if you choose to support me through this journey great, if you cannot be supportive then please just pray for me. Do not try and talk me out of this,, it is my journey and I have made up my mind to do this. Most of the people I talked to were supportive and the others did not try to talk me out of my choice. The one thing I know is without this support system helping me I would not have made it to the scheduled surgery. So decide what you want to do and putt together your support team. Good luck!

I had my surgery at 65 and wish the surgery was available in my 20's!!!

  3. I am just 20 yo and going through the process. I have been researching for a couple years and really want to. I want to know would you guys go through with it then? A couple people have been discouraging me even though I have been a mix of obese & overweight my whole life.

  4. Shellybelly31, I live in lower Sussex Co. I had my Gastric sleeve in Dec. 2016. I choose Christiana Weight Loss program in Wilmington. My surgeon was Dr Iragau. The program, services and surgeon were all excellent. I do not have anything but praise for all of them. Surgery was in Wilmington Hospital with great nursing care. The classes are held in Smyrna if you cccan work it into your schedule. I hope this helps you. Good luck

  5. This is my first post on this site. I'm 61 and having my sleeve done tomorrow the 17th. I'm nervous but reading all these posts from all of us in the same age range makes it much easier. Thanks all.

I am 67 now and had my surgery in Dec @66yrs old. I was worried about my age but I had no complications. When the endocrinologist told me I didn't need to take my pre diabetes mess any longer when I left the hospital Iwas thrilled. I no longer take cholesterol mess and am down to one BP med. This is possibly the best decision I have made for ME!!!!

  6. You will learn when you are full/ satisfied by eating slow, chewing food completely and waiting between bites. You will feel it..and if you go one bite too far, well, you will never want to make that mistake again. It is learning new habits..and an added surprise for me I am not feeling hungry. I set the alarm on my phone 4 times a day to remind me to go get Protein. So happy with that surprise

  7. I have been experimenting with different foods. I love dried Beans so I made a pot of pinto Beans with small pieces of diced ham. I can control sodium if I do it myself. I do not puréed them but do fork mash them. Love it and travels well to work. I also do soft scrambled egg, egg salad, chicken and tuna salad. Little hint, the thought of chicken or tuna puréed just turned me off...so I use a nut chopper, you know the one you use on a cutting board and push blade up and down. It chops eggs, tuna and chicken really fine. Then I add lite mayo, celery seed, a little pickle relish and enjoy. One more thing..with my beans I found I got that really uncomfortable pain in my chest..like I was going to toss my Cookies...well I measured out a cup of beans in a glass measuring cup..ate beans until I felt full..then I poured remaining beans back in measuring cup to see what my safe oz. are...I pored back a little less than 2 oz. so now I only take 2/3 cup of anything and have not been uncomfortable!

  8. I started puréed foods today. I had a soft scrambled egg this morning out with family to Celebrate the new year. I smoothed so there were no large chunks and began eating. I had about half the egg when I felt a little pressure. Following my class notes I put my fork down and asked the waiter to take my plate...I was done. Success! I soaked Beans over the weekend to have puréed bean Soup, also some chicken and tuna salad. I am looking for other recipes to go through this stage. The more I can find the easier this stage will be.

  9. I am excited about beginning puréed foods. I can begin on Monday. I have thought of Beans and cheese, plus scrambled or soft boiled eggs. I am working on myself about the look of puréed foods and I think it is going to be difficult. Oh yeah..chicken and tuna sales I think I can make tolerable. I try and keep myself in the mode of thinking "This is all part of your new story and it is one more chapter, short in length when I think of the rest of my life"
