Self pay who's the best ?????
You Stay at the Hospital 2 days and then days at a Nice Hotel Casino about 20 minutes from the Hospital. My BMI was above 50 so my surgery cost $4,900 but the standard is $4,400 this includes your Companion staying with you. The only thing you have to pay is for your companions meals. I flew in and it was $1,000 for 3 seats round trip. The Hospital has WIFI Roku and Netflix and the Valet is there to take your Companion for meals or will bring them to you. Honestly the Companion Gets a free 4 day Vacation.

Self pay who's the best ?????
Traumachaser I 100% understand your feelings on that and had I never had my Surgery there I would probably feel the same. I can Honestly say that I have never been treated so well at any Hospital I have been in Stateside, The Hospital was Very Nice with Huge personal rooms with Futons for your guest to sleep in the room with you. 24hr a day access to Valets while you were in the Hospital for 2 days and then Valets to take you on a tour of Mexico for 2 days with a Dr. coming to check on you as well. we really felt like Royalty. Whatever your choice is I wish you Abundant Success.

Male Plastics
I am only 8 weeks+ Post-Op but I am researching International Plastic Surgeons (Mexico & Dominican Republic) and monitoring their Forums for Before and Afters. I don't know the percentage of males having PS but from doing searches it seems to be pretty low. I will be getting a Fleur-de-lis Abdominoplasty (Inverted T Tummy Tuck) with Lipo and Mons Pubis Lipo Brazilian Butt Lift using the Fat that was Lipoed I think my arms will be fine and I would do inner thigh but the results are very marginal 80% of the time. I plan on being very open about my whole Journey from the sleeve all the way through Plastic and beyond.

I haven't been able to get the vitamins yet
Zip-Fizz $20 for 20 tubes they sell them at Sam's. Not all of the Vitamins that you need but it has a lot of them for that small of an Investment.

Bariatric surgeon in Mexico?
You are more than Welcome to ask any of us that have used Dr. Illan for our Bariatric Surgery. He performed my Sleeve on Feb. 24th 2017 and I can't even explain how Amazing the experience was and the results are Wonderful.

Living Life 4 Ounces At A Time
Berry78 I totally understand about the not worth cooking part. I try to pack as much flavor in these meals as I can, at times I will have 6 ingredients in something as small as 2 Chicken Fingers. Counting the nutrition content on those recipes is definitely fun the first time, but as long as it fits in my Macros its worth the work. You should see me with my scales its actually pretty funny because I constantly remind my self that 4ish is not 4 and I start taking off my plate as a small tear streams down my face.

Living Life 4 Ounces At A Time
Wow OutsideMatchInside that is a Great example of weight vs Volume, it is truly a eye opener. I read all of your Posts on Keto and find them very insightful. BigViffer the way you track and monitor your intake, exercise and BM's gives a detailed Roads Map of where you have come from and predicts where you are going, it is inspiring. If we all would spend more time planning ahead like you do we would find a lot less obstacles in our way. My Old Habits helped me to get to 513lbs so its time to chisel these New Habits in Stone and make them Law. I have been eating Keto for 22 weeks and I Love it. Now that I am 8 weeks Post-Op its time to add the gym too the walking I have been doing and hit it from both angles.

Living Life 4 Ounces At A Time
I am 8 weeks Post Op and it is Abundantly clear that from now on I need to Live my Life 4oz's at a time. I don't have a Calibrated eye so my guessing on the weight of a meal doesn't work for me. It's for that reason that I have multiple digital scales at Home, Work and on the Go. I follow a Keto Macros style diet and with that I find my sweet spot to be 4oz, I know I could push it to 6 or even 8 and still get a good loss but 8 would turn to 16 and then 24. Right now I am obeying all the Posted signs of my Nutrition Highway, any other way has always ended in a crash and burn on my behalf. I stay plugged in to this and other forum as a constant reminder of the Success and constant problems myself and others face. I constantly have to remind myself of the rules of nutrition and that as long as I make them important and continue them i will have ongoing success.

few hour before surgery ,, FREAKING OUT !
I had Anxiety about everything from the Plane ride to the Surgery but looking back I wish I could have went back in time and let my Old Self Know that it is way worse in my mind than it is in real Life. I would go get one last long walk in and reflect on all the positivity that you are bringing into your Life.

Prior to surgery they gave us the Wonderful Happy Pill that melted all the Fear away and put you in a Peaceful mood. Ask the nurse if you can get something for your Nerves.

Nutrisystem after weight loss surgery?
All bodies react differently but Keto works for me not only physically but mentally, I don't feel lethargic like I once did. Do a little research and add yourself to several Keto Facebook Recipe Groups so that once you Break the addiction to Carbs you will have meals that you enjoy. I would take measurements and weigh and then commit to trying it for 90 days. You have nothing to lose but Weight. Good Luck

Cigna Insurance
Yes I had it Feb 24th this year and it was a truly Awesome experience. I can't explain how wrong my views of Surgery in Mexico were. I got treated like Royalty. I am down 44lbs since the VSG 137 overall.

Cigna Insurance
It sounds like you are Lucky, I have Cigna and our plan doesn't cover Bariatric Surgery. I know that some of their plans do though. I ended up Self Pay for about what my yearly deductible was with Dr. Illan In Mexico and feel like it was by far the better solution. Good Luck and looking forward to you getting approved.

Lurker finally asking questions: Who did you tell?
If I had a Dollar for every "They are going to Harvest your Organs" comment I could have paid for my Surgery with Dr. Illan. I think if I had it to do over Pre-Op I would have had more funny come-back lines to Help battle peoples fear of Foreign Surgery. If you do decide to be open just be prepared for all the personal concern and baggage people will put on you, they think they are looking out for you but it truly is just their limited knowledge on the subject that is speaking. It is now my mission to use my weight-loss and recovery to Help others learn about a Safe & Affordable option if their insurance won't cover Bariatrics. Let me also Congratulate both of you for making a Great decision in Surgeons, I Promise it is the Best Vacation you will ever take.

NEWBIE NEEDING A POSITIVE NOTE
Complications can happen but generally if you follow your Surgeons instructions you should be fine. I had my surgery in Mexico so all of my follow up care is done by my PCP but honestly other than having Blood work done I haven't needed anything. I think that a Ketogenic Diet would fit Hand in Hand with the Homesteader Lifestyle. All those fresh vegetables and game meats should Help you weed most of the Sugar and Carbs out of your diet and give you the quality fats that your body needs. We will just have to ship you Avocados and Almonds lol.

What Do You Mean VSG Won't Solve All My Problems???
Patient Thank You for taking the time to Pay It Forward. Your response was very Helpful and actually Helped me to know that someone else understands how this feels. I will try to implement your advice as soon as tonight. This is an Amazing Forum and I am Truly Thankful for all the Contributors.

What Do You Mean VSG Won't Solve All My Problems???
Patient I sure do and I have been neglecting my CPAP machine but after this conversation I am going to start using it again. I never thought that this could even play a role in it but I am willing to try anything to Help at this point.

What Do You Mean VSG Won't Solve All My Problems???
Waler Thank You so much, anxiety is so new to me because it didn't start till I was 43. I was always extremely social and the Life Of the Party till I felt some Back Pain and went in for a MRI. It was supposed to be a open MRI but ended up being a closed so at 513 I was really to big for it but they crammed me in it anyway. That was the first time I ever remember feeling Claustrophobic but i kept it under control. The next week I was prescribed Prednisone and felt like it was closing my throat so there started my Battle with Anxiety. I try to control my breathing and several other techniques but I sure haven't found a way to totallt control it. My New goal is to learn how function to the Best of My Ability with it and hope that the medication will Help me do that.

What Do You Mean VSG Won't Solve All My Problems???
Fourteen weeks before my surgery I had a wake up call, my Chest was tight and I could hardly breath and Anxiety had rushed in on me. It was one of those moments when you really didn't know if you were going to wake up the next day. I made the decision that day that I was going to have the Surgery and wasn't going to keep making excuses. I started the next day on a diet that was very similar to what I would eat post-op, and the weight came off quickly. I lost 90 plus pounds previous to the surgery but the Best part was that I thought i had beat the Anxiety, I mean Heck I only needed medication 2 times in 14 weeks. Lets Fast Forward 5 weeks Post-Op and the Anxiety has came back rather strong all the same symptoms plus even more difficulty breathing. I went to a urgent care and had Blood work and a EKG done and the Dr. said my Heart was strong and suggested Lexapro for the Anxiety. So although VSG hasn't solved all my problems it has helped me to lose 126 lbs and get back into being physically active (walking 1-3 miles a day). It has allowed me to become social again and feel more in control of my Life. It's only a matter of time before I whip this Anxiety as well. Life is just too short not to Live it Fully!!!

Before and After Mommy Makeover
After getting to Goal and maintaining it I am definitely going for the "Daddy Do Over". If my truck got damaged I would spend tons of money trying to make it look New again so why not show my body the same respect. Definitely keep me up to date with how his practice is doing. Facebook Paul Holt

Just wondering
Maybe Guys are different or maybe it's just me and this is definitely TMI but I wish I would have taken Miralax or something. Two days or so after Surgery I discovered what Natural Childbirth must feel like and the Bad thing is no Epidural lol. Right after I got home I would take a stool softener and repeat every other day unless your body decides to be nice and become regular. Once again it doesn't effect everyone like this but it's good to keep some softeners around.

Never Ever Ever
So I am 24 days Post Op and down 27lbs from my Surgery weight. As I look back I realize although it was difficult it was so worth going into Surgery in the most Healthy state that I could get in. I really plan on creating some low carb options for all of those coming behind us that will be enduring the Liquid Diet. Puree is almost worse than Liquid because it takes 10 or so Delicious ingredients and makes it taste like Blah lol.

Feeling kind of betrayed
Heatherable thank you for being Considerate and realizing as men we can only do one thing well at a time. Your Husband is a Very Lucky Man. I bet he is a Great Grill Master and Wonderful Human Being!!!
