Surgery 3/23/17 i hope to break 300 by January. 525 lbs at start of journey 6/26/16. 450 at surgery date to 332 as of 9/5/17. 9XL to 3XL. I can walk again without pain or breaking into a drenching sweat. My sex life with my wife has vastly improved. I am off most medications. I can sit in normal chairs again. Not just fit bit be comfortable and not afraid they will break. (That last one makes me tear up cause of the struggles I had with just existing outside in public.) I cannot say how much has changed and how better my life is. Without this tool and encouragement of my family and wife I am positive I would have been dead by now. Thank you everyone that helped me.

IDK why it is that everyone (including me) want to lose faster? Since I started this journey I feel like I should have lost more. Then I look at all my previous attempts and realize that I could never have lost this much weight and felt so confident that I can keep it off...never. I have learned that I am a slow but steady loser. This no longer bothers me because I have gotten small enough that I feel good, can exercise comfortably and can enjoy so many things I couldn't before. I'm in it for the long haul and the 40 pounds I have left to lose will come off. How can it not with great restriction and good eating?
At 5'4" I get about 1,000 cals a day although I don't really track calories. I track Protein (60-100) and carbs (25-50). As tall as you are and being male you should be getting more. Your body will hold on as long as it can when it is starving. Up your eating and I bet it comes off faster.
Enjoy the marathon...I've learned I don't sprint very well:-)
    take care

I'm doing great, had a lot of pain immediately after but they got it under control pretty quickly. No nausea, meds are taking care of the pain. Hopefully home tomorrow! Thanks for asking how it went.

Right now just chillin' in a recliner watching tv and sipping my Water [emoji2]

Lapband revision to sleeve completed! My surgery went well, I came home today-on Stage 1-clear SF liquids...can't wait for Stage 2! Good luck everyone!! BTW dont weigh your self immediately post-op, they pump you with so much IV fluids you will likely weigh more than you did pre-op.

I was scheduled for Surgery August 1,i was super nervous and excited, i was so nervous i thought about canceling surgery, my family had came in town to support me, i knew i couldn't cancel, getting support from this site has helped tremendously, when you have support makes a big difference, surgery went quickly i had vsg/hernia repair, surgery lasted 45 minutes, i had alot of gas pain first day of surgery, i walked alot, that really helped,i couldnt sleep in bed, i slept sitting up in chair, im so happy i had surgery, the sky is the limit,i will definitely follow my nutritional guidelines, i will be a fool not too, Good Luck August Sleevers..

I chose Bypass because in the end I wanted this surgery to be one and done. At first I was dead set on the sleeve but after reading hundreds of experiences on these and other boards, I decided to go with my surgeon's preference and have the bypass. He suggested it because he felt I would lose more weight than with the sleeve. I also didn't want to develop GERD after the sleeve and have to have a revision later. I don't feel the malabsortion is a big deal as long as I take my Vitamins and Iron as directed. My labs have been great so far.

Don't apologize I'm taking all this in and appreciate all the input! My main concern is the amount of weight I need to lose and will the sleeve get me to goal vs my fear of more time on the operating table and having everything rerouted. Maybe I'm just having preop jitters

It is about 11 days until my scheduled sleeve surgery and I'm starting to wonder if I should have gone with the bypass surgery. Has anyone else had this dilemma or changed the type of surgery they had so close to the surgery date? Help!!

Gastric bypass is the gold standard bariatric procedure for obese PCOS patients.
Nonetheless, I know a number of women with PCOS who have reached their goal weights and found amazing success with their sleeves.
Here's the catch: due to the severe insulin resistance that is the hallmark of PCOS, weight loss is usually much slower with a sleeve and faster with a bypass.

Me ! I am going through the pre- approval process for the gastric sleeve. Yesterday my friend told me that bypass surgery may be better. Introversion , I have PCOS. I saw that that could be a factor in what surgery you choose. Do you know which is better ? I feel more comfortable with the sleeve just because of less nutrition absorption issues and shorter surgery time. But I am second guessing my decision. I really want this to work.

One of the reasons why I had RNY gastric bypass surgery rather than sleeve was because I had severe acid reflux (Gerd). The sleeve will only make this condition worse. So you might factor this into your decision.
