  1. Anyone taking bariatric supplements/vitamins pre-op? If so, how has it been working out for you? I'm running out of my regular stuff that was recommended by my surgeon (Vit D (1x/wk), ALIVE Multivitamins, and calcium) and am thinking to just purchase bariatric Vitamins. Not sure yet. I'm wondering about the overload of vitamins and minerals a pre-op body doesn't require.
  2. That was a blessing to read! Thanks for sharing. I especially like the analogy about the haircut. Wow. I think this good for us all. Thanks again!
  3. Should be nearly there or there already! Blessings to you!
  4. Welcome and congrats!!
  5. I'm pretty sure you'll need the tuck, unfortunately. I will too. So I'm going to start saving for it.
  6. Cause it has chemicals in it---flame retardant in some. Sugars, artificial sweeteners, .Not healthy....that's for everyone. But for WLS folks, the effects could be worse. I wouldn't chance it.
  7. Awe! That was awesome! I had just finish posting something about not dwelling in shame, forget it, move on, forgive yourself. And when you forgive yourself, you're truly loving yourself! Thank you for sharing!
  8. First thing I thought is to reward the kids with a healthy alternative. Something you'd eat yourself. Don't be so hard on yourself. Those three servings of cheetos isn't going to make a dent in your progress; only if you were to keep it up. Please don't dwell on it for long. The action is done, its past. You don't deserve shaming or anything. Just forgive yourself and move on. Be blessed too. You'll do great. Lesson learned. ?
  9. I will be one of those cases, higher weight but look smaller. I like to lift weights. Even now I've got muscle (thanks Dad!). So I'd be very surprised if my body composition changes from what it used to be. My goal weight is 145, but if I continue to lift (once my injury is healed) I could probably get away with being 160ish even, provided it's muscle. But even shedding 50 lbs off of my 253 lb body will make a big difference. Can't wait ?
  10. Some have the wait and aren't successful. Some don't have the wait and still are successful. So, in my opinion, whether or not there is a wait; it's ultimately up to the individual to implement the changes for success post-op. But overall, I do believe combatting those issues that have gotten all of us to the point of WLS being confronted with and making changes beforehand, will lead to long success post-op.
  11. that was a nice long thread to read. I agree with everyone here, I have empathy too. Just because someone may not be attracted to someone obese, doesn't mean it's shallow; it's just his/her preference. I've been mostly thin/fit for my life, besides the last 9 years or so when I started gaining. Even at thin/fit and single, I was attracted to certain kinds of guys, some huskies, some muscular, some average, but I have never looked at anyone obese with disgust; they were just not my type. I was also very athletic and outgoing, so I gravitated towards those kind of guys too. I married a slightly slim man who was just 15lbs more than I at the time. He's still slim (God's blessed him with high metabolism) but gained a few pounds and is very happy about it. LOL. When he's pumping the iron...ooh baby! My kind. LOL Okay, enough of my hubby....people will usually always gravitate towards others with the same interests in mind. And if there was a problem and it has been dealt with/fixed, then they shouldn't go down that path with others who are dealing with what was an issue for them. Unless they're called to be an advocate or something for others to get their lives back on track; much like someone who overcame drugs/alcohol and is now a counselor for others in that boat. But it takes a very dedicated, healed, and motivated individual to carry on and not fall back in to old habits too. But back to dating; it's all based on character and personality attraction; physical is the bonus and there's no right or wrong attraction either. It's how you deal with it.
  12. I couldn't find the one from years back but this one is pretty good info about genepro.
  13. I've been skeptical of this brand. Someone in a thread a long time ago, like years, actually posted some very detailed info about it. That made a lot of sense. I'd have to find it.
  14. Sounds like a plan! Thanks for the idea!!!
  15. Oh yeah...that walking would do it. I've had to stretch and rest to finally get some relief. It's not so bad now, but I can understand it can come back once the exercise has gone back up. In the past, I limited my cardio and just stuck to weights. I think that's what helped me. Stretch, less cardio, more weights. That's my formula.
  16. I can't help but I've got a question, can you eat them raw or have to be cooked?
  17. Hats fortunate. I might have to do some convincing then. ?I don't have Facebook but thank you.
  18. I'm gonna need one! Your's looks wonderful! Your doc did a great job. My husband is skeptical of me going abroad for plastics when I'm ready. So it's either I convince him or pay about 5-thousand more! Are you married--did you have to do convincing?
  19. Yay!!!!! Congrats!!! I can only imagine the relief! Lol. ?
  20. Ooh, me too please!? Thanks!
  21. @Lavieboheme84 will do! I'll make a note here at my computer just for you.
  22. Really? I'll look in to that and stick to the Viactiv that I've been using. I'll also see what the surgeon says too. So far, he's not so strict like some are. Only this drink, that vitamin, etc. Thanks for the hope!
  23. Awww....you did it! Congratulations and many blessings to you on your new journey/life!
  24. Well, that was entertaining. As a matter of preference, I'm looking in to liquids. But don't mind settling on chewables. Will finish off these gummies I have before surgery and get the right calcium (apparently I'm taking the wrong one). To each their own!
  25. I started the process on Jan 21st. Due to have my third NUT apt tomorrow. I have one left about this time next month. At that time, my surgeon/team with submit my paperwork to Cigna. I have no idea what their turnaround time is, so hopefully it's just a few days. I'll either get my surgery date before the submission (in hopes it goes through) or when they've approved. Not exactly sure how the center I go to will do it.
