Surgery Scheduled: May 12th, 2017
Welcome @Bri_Guy! I love this sight. There are ups and downs with a few people but in general, it's been very informative here. Congrats on your upcoming surgery as well. I'm May 15th in the states. Sorry I can't help ya on the travel issue but I'm sure someone here can surely give you an update on it. Many fly back after surgery so all I can say is, I think you'll be fine as well. Blessings to you hon on your journey!

Filing taxes, has anyone taken vitamins and required protein shakes off their taxes as medical expense?

This is what I found on the IRS website. Keep your medical co pay receipts (or get a statement from the surgeon's office) am deathly everything related to the surgery. Unfortunately, we cannot deduct vitamins and protein drinks, etc unless it is one of the three special food exemptions listed

That's not a bad idea to do. I don't personally know. But I'm interested about that. I'll see what I can find.

Boobies...ugh
I'd love to be a D!!!! My ideal size is a C. I want to be able to jump/run without them flopping all over the place. I'm currently a 40H. I was a 40k at one point. Never again!! NEVER!!!!

I feel your pain. I'm still pre-op and am hoping mine will go away when I start losing. If not, then a for sure reduction will be happening.

Any May Sleevers?
Finally!! I can post in this thread! I have my pre-op appt/diet on May 1st. My surgery is scheduled for May 15th. ? From start to finish it'll be just a tad under 4 months time. It seems like it was forever though. fortunately, I will be able to eat one sensible meal (doc's restrictions) daily during my pre-op diet along with my two shakes. That should make it a bit easier than all liquids. (Sorry to those who have all liquids!!!). So excited now! Yay!

How soon after surgery have you started to smoke?
I understand it's an addiction. My sister is a smoker. But if you're off smoking for a period time, why bother? I know you like it, but your body won't in the long run. Hope you make a better decision about taking care of yourself hon. Blessings to you.

How to tell if you're in starvation mode?
Intentional exercise always requires more calories (carbs). You will find your weight going down again when this is done on days you workout.

How soon after surgery have you started to drink coffee?
I've been on decaf for about a month now. Finally got used to it. It was the pits in the beginning. Biggest headache ever. No point in introducing again for me. I like the suggestion of using protein drinks as creamer. I think I'll try that this weekend.

Two weeks liquid diet
No. It won't. Just don't nibble anymore and stick with the program. You've got ten more days, that's plenty to get your liver shrunk.

NSV and SV!
WOW!!!! Look at you! All those smiles!!! I LOVE it! Congratulations on your loss so far!

Obesity and Kids
40% and maybe less for my kids. No, take that back, 13% and less for them. I'm speaking by faith for them--we don't talk about weight in front of them; they don't even have a clue that I'll be having surgery either. I don't want them to ever feel like they have to worry about weight, ESPECIALLY while their bodies are growing. I'm also thankful my husband has high metabolism...they just might take after him.

Another Patient Death at A Lighter Me (ALM) with Dr. Jose Luis Curiel Marchena
This is awful news. I take it that this is a problem with that Dr and facility. I hope others who are scheduled with this one will read. My heart goes out to the child!

Greek yogurt:( yuck !
Thanks for that. I'll have to try it as well then. I bought some two weeks ago and I still have 3 of the 4.

Weighing Food
This is how I feel about it too. I'm way too busy to micro manage everything going in my mouth as well. I have little kids, a job, a husband, a kitchen renovation going, volunteer work at church, etc. no way will I be measuring everything. I will listen to my stomach as I said previously. If people need to weigh/measure everything than that's great, if that's what gets them through. This is not intended to offend anyone, this is my PERSONAL opinion. If you don't like it, I'm sorry, but I believe weighing/measuring everything will be a crutch to REALLY listening to my body on my own. I will not judge anyone for doing it, I just won't do it myself.

Paid In Full!

My story, including 1 month post-op
I am a firm believer that God has given us this tool this day and age and He talks to us in different ways. Awesome story hon! Blessings on your journey!

What is that one thing you look forward to so much, post op?
I hear ya! I haven't worn mine for about 8 years now. Been married almost 10. We should post a before and after pic of our hands with the rings.

How did your significant other handle your weight loss?
And you should. I suspect it can give others hope that there are WONDERFUL marriages of supporting spouses through all things. I have one myself. He's not insecure either. He tells me how beautiful I am even now. Blessings to you and your husband hon.

Keto diet
I beg to differ. It's okay if we disagree. Even if all those other fad diets derived from this one, then it's still another one of the fad diets in my humble opinion.
