Crap....so I ran out of ready made protein shakes and ran to Walmart before work. Picked up Slimfast protein drinks, mocha cappuccino. Started drinking it...yum. Anyway, it says "as much caffeine as a cup of coffee"...darn it. Can't have caffeine now...thankfully it was two sips. Guess they'll be sitting in the fridge for quite a while! I don't have anything on hand at work but one broth and water....ugh.
-
And they taste great.

Thanks...That's what I was looking for. Apparently the one I went to (biggest one in town) didn't have it, AT ALL!!!! It's either that, or it was all out (there was a section of stuff gone). So, I just grabbed the Slim Fast one. Its very tasty too...but has the caffeine. I'll swing by GNC on the way home and grab some GNC Lean Shakes till I get my premier protein from Insure Nutrition (insurance is covering).

Woo Hoo on the insurance coverage - that's a great benefit.

Day #4 of 14 PRE-OP DIET
My day started at 12:38 am (thankfully I went back to sleep)....I was jolted awake by a bang on/in our house. I looked over towards the living area and I see flashes of light going on. I instantly reached for my gun, but it was so dark, I ended up knocking over some essential oils. Finally got it and took the safety off. I'm walking with it down, ready to shoot if I need to. I kept seeing the flashes of light. So, just as when I turn the corner, a huge sound of THUNDER happened, and then lighting flashed everywhere!!! BAHAHAHAJAJAJAJA! It was a darn storm that came in. SMH. I texted my husband (he works nights) and told him what happened. He LOL'd and says I need to practice with getting it out. Well, at least I was ready to shoot if I had to. Ain't no body coming in my house uninvited, ya'll. Newme17's got a gun!
Ok, so the diet..... way better than the first three days. It's almost to the point that I can care less about food anymore. My family cooks something (in the microwave--renovation still on; or eat food out) and it might smell good, but I'm not wanting it. I've found that I've been craving chicken broth most of the time; it hits the spot for me . I love to drink hot liquids too, so I take advantage of the decaf coffee I can have too. So, did all of my liquids/protein today, had 2 cups of salad, with 4oz chicken breast, and 1 tbsp. light dressing. I don't care for much dressing on salads anyway, so when I actually measured a tbsp, I was proud of myself, because that's about how much I've always put on salads. Go me!
Should just get easier....I've got this down. Oh...best part, my jeans went on like butter today. No sucking, pulling, pushing to get them on. Yay!
-
Oh white and me do not go together unfortunately. The first wear, they will have a cherry icee stain (I did not even have a icee lol), ketchup, mustard and some grass or dirt from the imaginary ground that I did not sit on lol.

Pre-op diet day #3
its getting easier. Still hungry a bit but manageable. I love BP chicken bouillon. Probably my favorite broth that I've had and it's an unlimited choice for me. But I limit it still, I don't want to get sick of it. Let's hope tomorrow is even better.

Pre-op Diet Day #2
Well, I'm tired and hurting and hungry. I was going to post an update earlier, but ended up having to help my husband with a couple of wall cabinets that he's installing. Turned out to be a bit of a challenge. (Old house, uneven walls). I'm ready for bed, took a Benadryl because these allergies are acting up. I won't be able to take anything after Friday, but Tylenol, which I will be taking for my now, new, re-injured shoulder. Ugh. If I lift heavy, move it certain ways, it's killing me afterwards. Even now as I type, so I'm leaving it short as possible.
Today, I did well. I followed everything precisely again. I wanted to get creative for my one meal, but, well, I don't have a kitchen to cook. So, I just ate some more shrimp with broccoli and cauliflower. If I had time, or more time, I'll try to find something else other than what I ate for two days in a row. Does anyone have any ideas? I think would have just been easier to do all liquids for me. Maybe I'll get some seasoned chicken breasts that's already cooked in the frozen section tomorrow.
I'm hungry and going to bed as so. Goodnight ya'll.

@Thejeweledsleeve 😂 the pain from surgery? Lol. I'm no stranger to surgery pain, but let's see how this one does compared to all the others. Another good thing for me...I've got a high pain tolerance. So I might just be walking in the park, literally too!!!! Haha!
-
Once your weight falls away you will find that old injuries are way less troublesome. I have had a very bad shoulder for 11 years, literally have to take pain meds every day. Unfortunately it's the side I sleep on most, so that doesn't help, but now that my weight is considerably less, not so much weighing down on it at night, it's heaps better. You will find that you will move around so much more during the day and that helps to give all your joints gentle, regular exercise, and then aches and pains get so much better. Good luck.
-
Thanks @Brit in Oz. I still have to get the shoulder looked at, but I'll be soooo happy for it to be less painful due from weight. Like you, I tend to sleep on that side, although I have to move in to a position where it's manageable to do so these days. But thanks for your words...I'm looking forward to getting better all over!

Pre-op diet day 1
its not over yet! But I'm glad to say it's going well. Was a tad hard about 3pm, but I remedy that. My pre op diet consists of two protein shakes, and one meal (4oz of lean meats, 2 cups non starchy veggies). I have a list of free foods that have a daily limit. Mind you, they're mostly condiments, etc. I can have unlimited decaf teas and coffees, low sodium boullion, flavored waters, and of course regular water!
Here is what I've had up till 5pm central, in the order I had it:
16oz water
16oz water
GNC protein shake
16oz water
2oz raw carrots (the best ones ever, lol)
GNC protein shake
8oz water
8oz BP chicken bouillon (smelled nasty but tasted pretty good!)
then I'll be having, very SLOWLY:
4oz steamed Cajun flavored shrimp
1 cup steamed broccoli with 1 cup steamed cauliflower with 5 squirts of I can't believe it's not butter (yes, only five squirts allowed)
after dinner, I'll be sure to drink more water, probably put a flavor packet in it (for dessert!!! lol 😂)
Oh, and I found out, fat-free cream cheese is DISGUSTING!!!!! I'll come up with some crazy concoction to use it. Just gross.
-
Currently shopping for multi and calcium citrate. Ordered my b-12 sub on Amazon. Insurance is giving me folic acid/Vit D and premier protein shakes.
-
Oh, and to copy the oh-so-lovely @OutsideMatchInside, I ordered a maxi dress.

Today is a new day. I will be positive and joyful. LOL Now that I said that, let's see what comes my way to try and get me off of my joyful high. My kid's behaviors, hubby not listening to me (lol), an obstacle in the way of our remodel? I will laugh through it. Ha! (I'll have to update later.....)
So, I'm up early on a Sat morning. It's somewhat usual. I'm enjoying the QUIET of the house and drinking my last iced coffee, made with Chameleon brand cold brew, almond milk (unsweetened), and a tad almond creamer, caramel flavoring. I have been having decaf for the past month or so, but I allow one cup of regular coffee once a week. So this is my last and I'm enjoying it.
Pre-op starts Monday for me. I'm to have a shake and go pick up my pre-op paperwork from the center I'm going to. They said it'll take about 10-15 mins to go over. I failed to ask if that's when I make my payment or not. I'm going to pay using my cash rewards card, even though I have the cash (will just turn around and pay it off). Why not make money, right? I'll be doing two shakes and a meal for two weeks. Of course, the meal will be restricted. Not sure about snacks though. I'm a snacker....and that's going to be the hardest part for me. Overall, I'm ready to get this show on the road!!!

@Brit in Oz, great job hon. I'm glad to hear some normalcy to the diet at 6 weeks. I, too, cook healthy at home (always had). So I'll be able to participate with my family more later. My problem has always been snacks, I think. Not so healthy, but I do love raw veggies. We'll see what the pre-op diet entails for me in a couple of hours.

Had a way better day than yesterday, that's for sure. Slipped up for one slice of pizza, but ate my plant based foods for lunch and dinner, protein shake for breakfast. I've already determined that I will not go all out my last day before pre-op, simply for the fact that I literally feel sick when I eat bad. Acid indigestion flares up too. I haven't had it for so long, but yesterday's ordeal was just awful. To somewhat make up for it, I did an hour of Just Dance with my daughters. That made me feel so wonderful (besides the cramping in the feet) that I was thinking to unfreeze my gym account to go back, but the pain from my shoulder injury crept up today. 😑 I miss my weights. I miss the gym. I miss seeing that I can literally do more weight then most women (yes, I'm very competitive) and even some guys. I miss it....boohoohoo. 😭 I feel my body getting too limp. Sigh....I will be back. May God heal my shoulder while I lose this weight to enjoy my workouts again!!!
Two more days.....pre-op time!!! Yay!!!
-
Thank you @Martinichic, I hope you get released soon. Those three weeks can make a difference, but if you're post op, then yes, you'll have to wait. Blessings to you hon on your journey too!
-
@Thejeweledsleeve I think it's serious time for me...I allowed quite a bit this last week and I don't need anymore. The best part is....even though I allowed some foods I know I shouldn't have had, I always felt super sick afterwards. I don't want or need that again. I'm okay with not eating bad foods ever again. I really am. It's having to condition my body to not crave those foods. That's the hardest. Our bodies always wanting those terrible foods we've eaten for so long...and making a good habit of doing without them (during this pre-op) is a good thing. I choose to go with the good and my body will have to just learn and take it.

Thanks God His mercies are new everyday. I sure need it after today's lack of diet. 😔
-
@Sweet as peaches and @Newme17 you both got this. I have total faith and support in you both!!!
-
I'll accept that faith you have and apply it as well. I was already battling whether I should finish something ate today, for tomorrow. I think I'll just say no (give it to my hubby) and call it quits on eating everything in sight.
I managed to do an hour of Just Dance with my girls. All 251 pounds moved. 😂 after I sat down with sweat rolling off for a bit, drank a bottle of water, and took a shower, I felt so much better. Kept thinking how much better I'll feel without this fat and dancing. Another reason I can't fall like I did today. Got to keep on fighting, the prize is near.

It's all in my head. I just got a the realization that I'll be starting my pre-op on Monday. All of a sudden, I got hungry. LOL
Isn't that just awful!?
-
@Newme17 and @Thejeweledsleeve I was thinking the same thing but I couldn't get what I wanted which was a pot of homemade beans so I settled for hot dogs as my last meat supper. Tomorrow it gets real. Today, someone gave me two sodas, two bag of Doritos and bag of powder donuts which I totally gave away. I am super stoked.
-
@Sweet as peaches....it's real now!!!
So glad you gave away that junk. I know that person probably thought it was a nice gesture, but seriously!?
I tried to eat a little Taco Bell last night. I don't know why. I don't like Taco Bell and all it did was make my stomach hurt. Even post op I won't ever go back to Taco Bell. 🤢 Back to my healthier options. My body is now rejecting those terrible foods. Yay!!!
-
@Sweet as peaches That is awesome. Just continue to turn away from the junk LOL

Tried Fairlife chocolate milk today. A bit too sweet for my taste but it had 19g of protein. I think I'd milk it down though (pun intended)(add plain almond milk) for less sweetness.
-
I don't know why companies make their drinks super sweet. I think if it was a tad sweetened, we'd all be better off without all the artificial sweeteners and sugars. I really like unsweetened almond milk with vanilla. It's perfect. But obviously doesn't have as much protein as Fairlife. If it did, that's all I'd drink. 😊
-
@Chericpie, Fairlife milk?

So, this past Friday I let my boss know that I will be having my surgery on May 15th. She never responded back. So, her husband (the owner) came in and I told him (she had already talked to him). He says, "ok, we'll make it work" They're due to go to Argentina for vacation that same very day!!!! lol She wanted me to be in the office that week while they were gone. Well, guess what!? I've been planning this for almost 6 months (4months since I officially started) and I will not be changing my date for her to get her stinkin vacation. I told him that I've been waiting for this and that is what it will be. May 15th. I could already see her reaction, calling her husband and complaining about the timing.
Well, THAT's JUST TOO BAD!
-
@Sweet as peaches congratulations as well!! I will be sending you a good luck too!!!

Someone posted about the Hidrate Spark 2.0. Of course I had to look it up. Then I was ordering a purple one 5 mins later!!! Cannot wait to get it. It should help me immensely! Wish I had come up with the idea....would have been making the big bucks. Lol

I just placed the order and got purple too. I was excited that they had purple. It's my favorite color. I wish the portion8 came in purple. Omg man I would make it all match lol

Lol. I almost got black! My portion 8 is gray. But my favorite color is blue, specifically sapphire blue. So teal, light blue, etc won't work for me. The purple was prettiest in my opinion. So glad you got one too!

Do I have the WORLD'S FASTEST APPROVAL or what? Paperwork was submitted yesterday, and I received my approval today before 11am. You're saying WHAT!?
I go in for my pre-op paperwork on Monday, May 1st. Surgery is May 15th.
Sooo excited!
-
It does, doesn't it @biginjapan! I'm just beside myself. lol
@Sweet as peaches, you and I having the same exact dates for pre-op/surgery will be fun and interesting!!! I'm gonna follow you.

I wasn't thinking. Went to the Vitamin shoppe for some items, non wls related. I see they have calcium chews for but one get one 50% off. They're regularly 9 dollars for 30. What a deal, right? Half way home (after I tried one) I realized hat they're carbonate and not citrate. Ugh....it's either back to the store to return one or convince my husband to eat them daily. The way I feel right now, both are a hassle to do. Haha!
-
So, my last prerequisite appt went very well. The NUT answered a bunch of questions I had. I agreed with all. I lost 2 lbs. yay! Still have to work on my two bites of protein, one bite veggie deal. Of course, sipping water. The best part is that this office is so organized that all the paperwork will be submitted tomorrow. The lady in front went over all the prerequisites with me. All were finished and reports were attached. So, I expect to hear something from my insurance company next week (insurance says it won't take long for an answer as long as all papers are submitted). Then the office will call me and schedule my pre-op appt/start of my diet. I will have to do two protein shakes and one meal daily. No snacks. My one meal will be restricted to what they allow. Now, I just have to wait for the approval. Feels surreal to be at this point but I'm so glad it's almost here!
-
I arrived early. Sitting here in my truck waiting for my last prerequisite appointment to start! I'm finally getting a little bit more excited. It's getting real now. Yay! 😁
-
Called Cigna, they said as long as my surgeon/team submits ALL the required paperwork, then the approval turnaround is very quick (a couple of days or so). Says all it takes is a reviewer to review it and make sure it's all legit. Sounds great! I'll be top of the center then.
-
Tomorrow is my last prerequisite appointment. I need to remember to ask when they will be submitting the papers so I can follow up with my insurance.
Been doing plant based here and it's going well. Someone commented on me looking like I lost weight. Don't feel like I have. I'll find out tomorrow at my weigh in. My husband who does not need to lose any weight, is dropping weight. He's so frustrated, he's trying to gain. We're such a pair!
Time did not fly by for this. Time flew by with my kids' school, with my kitchen renovation (still going on), and other things, but not this. I'm glad to be at the end already. Within 3-4 weeks I should be getting sleeved.
-
Last appt is next Wed. The center won't schedule surgery until approval comes from insurance. Booo! Says it may take up to 10-15 business days. Guess I'll be calling my insurance so often to make sure someone is doing his/her job. Once received they schedule pretty fast...but if I have to have a pre-op of two weeks then it looks as if I have another two weeks after approval. I'm guessimating mid May for my surgery; which would be just about 4 months from start.
-
I did really well last week doing mostly plant based foods. I upped my protein intake here and there as well. Although I'm not on the official pre-op diet, I think I'll need to start incorporating a bit more of it NOW! Today wasn't so great. I waited way too long to get something in my system. It was 2'o'clock when I finally ate. Not good. Everything was looking good. So I ate at a restaurant with my hubby and actually gave myself an excuse to order probably the last thing I should be eating. "It's probably the last time I'll have it, so....". Now when I'm thinking of all this, I've used that excuse too many times in he last month. I haven't gaIned any weight, nor lose any. My exercise is virtually nil with an injury and bursitis flaring up and I know that if I don't nip that sorry excuse in the bud now, I'll end up believing that lie (for myself).
Oh goodness, I lost track. So anyway, I did well with eating last week; hard work to figure it all out. The last couple of days I haven't and I feel the difference. It's back to work then. 😕
-
I know that feeling. I don't start my preop diet for another week and a half. I let my mind slip into that same "this will be the last time I get to eat this, so I might as well enjoy it" mode. It took me until yesterday to get out of that. Yesterday my son wanted to go eat fries at the "fries house". that's what he calls it... I call it Zaxby's. I almost caved and said yes because that'd be the "last time" I'd get to eat the fried fingers and fries... Luckily, I came to my senses and told him no. I felt so accomplished by saying no last night that it made it easier to walk right past the box of doughnuts at work this morning. Hopefully that feeling continues!
Best of luck!
-

So what was I thinking? I knew school is going to be out soon, so hopefully it'll happen before the end of May (which I think it will). Then my hubby and I decided it was time to start demoing the kitchen for a renovation last weekend. My mind has been a mile a minute on renovations and sleeve surgery. Might be the fastest kitchen renovation ever for us! Pray we get it done before my surgery because I have this awful peeve of stuff being out/laying around and not put back in it's place. And I know I won't be able to do much at all during recovery.
