So funny. I was just researching this myself. I'm going to school learning about app development. I already decided I'm going to take on making Bariatric-centric tools and apps as a personal project. A quality eating/meal timer is definitely on that list.

Not saying you should wait around for that lol! It's just surprising to me that there are so few apps aimed at WLS patients.

You should totally do it!!! ?

  2. I have knee pain, no surgery yet. I'm pretty sure most of my pain would alleviate with weight loss. It's been studied and found on obese participants who lose weight, for every pound of weight loss, they lost about 4 pounds of pressure off the knees. So just a small weight loss, about 10 pounds, would take about 40 pounds of pressure off. Obviously, the more we lose, the more pressure is off our knees and the pain is alleviated. Blessings on your journey!

liquid Vitamins sound.... unfortunate. Sorry! I couldn't stay on top of taking the oral Vitamins post-op, there was too many. I highly recommend the PatchMD patch vitamins. You slap it on, 8 hours later take them off, and that's it. They have a wide variety too (even more on PatchMD.com I believe). All my blood work has come back perfectly using them as it's said you absorb much more from them than you do any sort of oral vitamins.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to do my homework and research the patch. Sounds too good to be true, but hey, if they work, I'll gladly get these. I don't like taking so many pills.

Yes I definitely lost inches, my endurance and energy skyrocketed, and I felt so much better. But by not losing weight I was still morbidly obese which increases all sorts of risk factors including early death and makes it much harder to get life insurance and with two small kids, for me, that is unacceptable. So I was very confident going into surgery that it was the right choice for me.

I thought you were writing about me! LOL I lost inches but no weight (ok, maybe 4 pounds) but that was all in three months time. My doc says it wasn't coming off fast enough and so she sent me to the bariatric surgeon's office. I am thankful I have no co-morbidities, but the morbidly obese factor is enough to go through with this to prevent those from happening. I, too, have two small kids....it'll be the day when they ask "Mommy, where's your big belly?" ;) So waiting for that day!

  5. Maybe miscommunication on their part? 25-40 in the first few weeks/months...?? Sounds more like it, right? I'm 5'6" and I'm pretty muscular too, but my pre-obese days, I was 155ish. I've been overweight about 8 years too, almost the same amount of time as you. That's about 100lbs to take off for me. You're only an inch taller than me and if you've got good muscle mass, then for sure, you should be dropping 90lbs to your goal weight. Try not to be bummed hon, I think they were wrong too.

  6. I agree with previous posters. I had to wait 6 months (no loss required) and I am very thankful I had that time to research the hell out of the surgery and prepare mentally.

But most of all I used it as my last real effort to lose the weight without surgery. I busted my a$$ at the gym, I ate healthy food, gave up Diet Coke and alcohol (those were the last to go). :) I ended up getting a lot stronger and healthier which made surgery and recovery a lot safer and faster. But I didn't lose any weight at all... That more than anything proved to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that I needed the surgery.

Stronger and healthier, but no weight loss? Sounds to me you added muscle mass and that's always a GREAT thing! ...you know...the muscle burns the fat. I probably bet you lost some inches too. :D

  7. Looks great! I can't wait to have mine done. It'll be a long while though. There is a guy in Houston, Horndeski, that has a technique with no vertical scars from the nipples down. It's pretty cool. Of course, to be it won't matter where the scarring is, as long as they're in place and not sagging anymore, I'll be happier. Lol. Still going to check it out for the other techniques.

    Congrats! Enjoy your new boobs.

Thank You ! I was worried about scaring too but my skin heals really well and my surgeon is top class. My Tummy Tuck scar has healed really well and should be a teeny silver line when I have fully recovered. Make sure you post about the other techniques as I am sure others would benifit about knowing that there are options to consider :)

    Will do! ;)
