  1. You had me at Budget Bytes!!! 💗❤️😊😂 thank you for sharing. I’m going to make this just as soon as I buy myself another crockpot! Or I guess I can do it over the stove. I’ve been buying sauce for some of the pasta dishes I’ve done and never once thought “why not make my own?” Way healthier and yes, less sweet!!!

MRM Veggie Elite Protein Powder (Vegan)

Absolutely. I’m just thankful that the early stages is just that, a stage and temporary. I’d rather eat my 4oz of kale than have a protein shake. 😊

    Starting process with Cigna

Sometimes it’s the only way for others, such as myself and I desired it. I met all the criteria for insurance and waiting a few months was nothing, it was very effortless and it was way cheaper than even going to Mexico to pay for it.

    No caffeine? Ever?

I added caffeinated coffee back in about week 4 post op I believe. Been at it since, just be sure to drinks lots of water in the early stages and do drink the decaf very early in the beginning; it won’t be forever. Just a temporary set back. 😊

    It’s NOT a DIET!

I’m not sure if it’s along the same lines of where he’s at now, I’ll look in to it. I know he wrote some books previously that he had to backtrack and say he was wrong (obviously after the science proved he was).
  6. I think it’s healthy enough. lol i still use olive oil and cheese...😁
  7. My thoughts....too much water and maybe not enough food and if you’re gaining, it could be from the lack of calories. ??? But I don’t know any other info other than you drink a lot of water. Might be worth looking in to.

    Starting process with Cigna

I have Cigna open access as well. It was pretty easy actually. The insurance will go by the first initial weight that the doctor reports. So even if you do gain (which I hope you don’t) you’ll still be able to get your surgery as long as the other prerequisites have been met. I started at 266 and by surgery I was 259, not much loss but it was okay. I lost those few pounds during my pre-op diet. My advise to you is to call cigna and stay on top of what needs to be done, etc. stay on top of your team and ask when they’ll be submitting paperwork, etc. in turn when they do, call cigna again and ask if they’ve received them, etc. I did all of that, my paperwork (after all was said and done) was submitted on a Thursday morning and I was approved the following morning. May not work for everyone but it sure does help to know what’s going on. Blessings to you on your journey hon!

    It’s NOT a DIET!

Protein? What’s that??? Lol i don’t focus on any macro or micro nutrients, just good wholesome foods. I’ve also read the book by bariatric surgeon Dr Garth Davis, called Proteinaholic. He’s got loads of sources and science behind the western diet craze of protein, specifically animal proteins. It’s a great read if you’re interested.

    Coffee after weight loss surgery?

Been very aware of it...I also like to drink lots of water, so no issues with having caffeine for me even at that early stage. But with that said, I agree with you for any others in their early stages, to get confirmation from their docs.

    New long eyelashes

I wish mine did too...if my eyelashes were long and thick after WLS. I haven’t noticed any change with mine, but that’ll be a nice change to have. Enjoy yours!!

    Coffee after weight loss surgery?

Mine too but I haven’t had any issues with it.
  13. Newme17

    It’s NOT a DIET!

I do vegan/vegetarian, WFPB, lifestyle. Slowly changed before WLS and have kept at this. It’s nice, easy, healthy, no counting, no journaling, just eat healthy food when hungry. It’s the best lifestyle for me. No dieting about it.

    Coffee after weight loss surgery?

I think I had coffee about 4 weeks out. No decaf. Every day since.

    Pizza

Pizza...yum. I have one every now and then. It didn’t kill me nor did I let it make me feel guilty for eating it. Nor will I allow anyone else to tell me I’m “losing it” for having one. Enjoy a slice, or half, but that’s it.

    6 month weight gain?!?

2 lbs? I’d worry if it were 10lbs or more and it all happened within a week or two. Most likely water weight. Also, is it almost that “time”? Have you been eating more salt then usual? Are you stressed at work, school, home-life? So many factors can be addressing that 2 lbs, but try not to worry about it, Check again in a week after altering a little something in your life that you know might be hindering your results. If not, still check in a bout a week or two, it’ll probably be gone and/or you’ll have a good loss. Hope this helps.

    Cloudy urine

Never too late to call a doc....Cloudy urine could also be the start of a UTI. Call your doc.
  18. It’s been a while since I’ve posted a status. Well, I quit my job at the beginning of the year. Yay! Now I have time to focus on my body. Been at the gym consistently this week. Thank God for muscle memory, it’s real. I’m sore but that’s a GREAT thing at this point. I’m still going strong on my WFPB lifestyle. I won’t ever turn back. I did have a little turkey one Thanksgiving and a little ham on a Christmas though. It was good but not enough to make me stumble. Lol. I’m just about 8months post (in three days) and I’m down 81 lbs from my highest and 74 from surgery. Blood work is always good and no complications ever. One of the best decisions I’ve made for myself. I’ll post pics next status.

Now, I hope I can claim all my expenses from surgery for tax time. Lol

      Sleeve1stFitNext

Congrats!!! I am sooo glad to hear that you are back in the gym. I cannot wait to see your progress.

I am starting my taxes, I have claimed over $5,000 in medical expenses. Between, compression garments, protein shakes, payments on hospital stay, co-pays and therapy for my ankle which is still ongoing. I did not realize I spent much. I also wear glasses and contacts and have other medical needs. I believe it is anything that exceeds 10% of you annual income.

Thank you @Sleeve1stFitNext!! I do believe you are very correct about the percentage. I’m not sure if I’ll meet that now, since I worked for all of 2017. Oh well...still going to see what it amounts to

    Surprise at Doctor's Today

Haha. Made me laugh, I say that all the time. I don’t weigh often at home, but like you there was a five lb difference from the last doc visit. I’m guessing I should change the battery for when I do. Thanks for that!
  21. My docs orders: do not eat just because it’s “time to eat”; so eat when you’re hungry or have a protein drink when hungry. Stop when you’re content, not full. We don’t count calories or macros/micros. Although they focused on proteins first (of which I quickly did away with—I’m a whole Foods plant based kind of person and don’t care for all of that). all is well 😁

    When to expect stalls?

I like to say there are no stalls. Just because the number on the scale isn’t changing, it doesn’t mean your body isn’t. Try not to focus on those “stalls”, IMO they’re just another stress on the journey.

Fasted Cardio? Does it actually work

Fasted cardio....not sure, but fasted weights, yes. Speaking from personal experience (and it was before WLS too). I did IF for three months, I did my workouts (cardio included, but focused solely on weights) during my fasted State. I saw results way quicker than what my norm was “eat breakfast, wait an hour, workout, eat a post workout snack...etc). I’m waiting till I’m at maintenance (currently 8 months post) to see whether or not I want to incorporate my workouts in a fasted state or not. It worked very well for me, I was just an indecisive, couldn’t figure out what lifestyle I wanted to go with at that time kind of person and, thus I didn’t keep it up. I didn’t have low energy either...you’d be amazed at what your body can do. Felt like I was more alert through it as well. We can do all the research (I did too) until we actually try it and have an experience for ourselves; kind of like researching the crap out of WLS 😊 and finding our experiences to be a slightly different/better (I hope) than everything we’ve read. I hope you find what works for you.

MRM Veggie Elite Protein Powder (Vegan)

I haven’t. Did you get your samples in? I ended up using premier protein (insurance paid) during the first month or so. I had some VegaOne that I liked a lot, but never ventured off to try any other vegan powders. I hope they work out for you!

    Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis

I hope you enjoyed your day! It looked very relaxing. 😌 I still have got to get Dr Greger’s book. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it.
