  1. Carry some mace! I do, everywhere I go. Hey, I can relate to the power/strength of when I was heavier. We had to be strong to carry all that extra fat! I even did my weights 3x a week as obese. Now, I'm still doing them, but don't feel as strong as before. Anyway, I plan to get there again. As to the OP question...NOPE!!!
  2. I haven't noticed much difference at all, I'm not at skinny and don't ever plan to be...maybe I can give a better answer when I hit "fit". But 81lbs down...of all the people I associate with they are still just as accepting and nice to me as before. Strangers..nope, no difference. Men, I don't pay attention...I've got my husband who has all my attention. (Ya'll can all just go throw up now...lol)
  3. I get to my gym this morning to find a note plastered on the door that they’ll be closed temporarily (like a few months) due to construction needing to be done. Okay, that’s fine. But why didn’t they inform their members in advance? Sigh... Anyway, I have the option to drive clear across town to three other locations, but not sure I want to. Would you drive or suck it up and try and workout at home?

@Sleeve1stFitNext Definitely won't be complaining about location/time anymore!!!! 1-1.5 hours!? Eeee! Thank you hon.

I took the scenic route, which is along the ocean/bay...where all the million dollar homes are. It was so beautiful, so I will continue to embrace the (little) journey. :) haha

@Newme17 Yeah, I have become a gym rat. I am really cool with the trainers, the people that work out their and Vinny the cleaning guy. It is what makes you want to go. I enjoy my gym. I enjoy my trainer and enjoy seeing people making gains.

@Sleeve1stFitNextonce upon a time i was the rat...and very healthy one. I knew the trainers, etc...was single too! :) Now, it's totally different. I make friends with other moms and the gym daycare worker. LOL I do know the cleaning lady as well. Times change, but the want to workout has always been there. I hope it'll always be so with you...now that you're the rat! Enjoy!

  4. I was right there like you. I just had water and mostly broth. Nothing cold was good at the time. I had to have warm broth and even room temp to warm water. I don’t think I had a protein drink until day 4 or 5. I went off all pain meds on day 3. But, it truly does get better each day. I hope and pray it is the same for you too. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself.
  5. Lack of education and knowledge is “the easy way out” excuse. If he’s not open to entertaining the idea of getting educated about WLS, then I’m sorry you have to deal with that. I hope he’s willing to learn for you.
  6. You will feel better each day! Keep that walking up and drinking, err sipping water too. I can’t wait to hear of your awesome progresses. 😊
  7. Well, I wasn’t offended and never said I was. I think it’s just gone overboard...and yes technically it’s still about other members. Just because you didn’t name anyone it doesn’t mean it wasn’t or couldn’t been about them. Sometimes it’s just wise to stop. most rants and raves on here are a personal matter, not to talk about other users.

    New Documentary! The Game Changers

Still waiting....no updated schedule other than an international debut that happened two days ago.....
  9. I personally think it’s had enough. Time to move on to another post that’s not making fun of others.....

    Question for post op

Completely. Most likely head hunger. Just stick to your plan. About 5 days post, I was actually hungry. Some get hungry and some don’t. Be sure to listen to your stomach, not your head.

    Head hunger...

Head hunger in my opinion is just a form of deception. Your mind telling you you’re hungry when your stomach isn’t. Have you ever been deceived? Probably so, and it doesn’t feel good to be deceived. So, if you want another way of looking at it, then think of that. Will you be deceived yet again? I deal with this daily. Sometimes I cave, but the most important thing is that you recognize it for what it is and overcome it the best you can.

    Phentermine after VSG your thoughts

Shake it up! Eat some complex carbohydrates, sweet potatoes, quinoa, Brown rice for a few days. It’ll shock your body and you’ll start seeing a boost. Could also be you’re just not eating enough. Check to see how many calories you should be consuming. Here’s a general idea: http://eatmore2weighless.com/weight-loss-calculator/
  13. It’s just that....about other members. ”Just a reminder, please do not start topics specifically for the purpose of ranting and raving about other members. Please click on/refer to our posted rules that specifically addresses this.”
  14. Awww....so happy for you hon!!!!
  15. Yum...COFFEE! So, I've been uber blessed. Absolutely no heartburn and I get to have my cup of coffee and then some everyday. It's true...caffeine in coffee DOES NOT dehydrate you. I researched that a while back. I do agree to wait on the consumption post op until it's cleared to have some. Anyone worried about acid...cold brews have less acidity as well. ENJOY!
  16. I am not all familiar with bypass surgeries, but maybe try drinking your calories! Assuming...Doesn't seem like you're getting enough nutrients. Maybe blend a bunch of leafy greens and apples, etc and drink them. Drink some protein drinks too. Hope you find something that works! Glad you look and feel great too.
  17. Blessings to you hon! I hope your surgeries go seamlessly well!!! Here's to a new you!!!

    Stalling/Weight Gain

You're welcome hon. I am an emotional eater as well...I can relate! You can get back on track for sure...just don't stress over it. LOL
  19. This is what happened to me. I had multiple miscarriages and I did all kinds of treatments to get pregnant (i was a healthy weight then), never knew the source as to why I couldn't, but anyway, once I just got my mind off and entered in some peace about the lack of pregnancy (very hard to do!!!), I ended up pregnant. Not saying this is the only thing....so, it's only one area that can keep you from getting pregnant. Hope you find answers and rest hon. But more than that, I hope you conceive!!!

    Stalling/Weight Gain

Not me, but I'd suggest changing up your lifestyle a bit (diet, exercise, etc). Seems the stress of moving/jobs is what stalled your scale weight, I'm assuming. Stress is a huge contributor to weight gain. Do you best to not worry, find some peace and rest hon.

    Recent NSV

Recent? Umm....haven't kept track or noticed anything...so, I'll come back and put one down after some thinking. lol
  22. Do you know how hard it is to find a full body before pic when you don't bother with pics from before!!!!  :)  I finally found one! I searched high and low for this thing.....ugh. Anyway, here are my current before/after pics!  Before=266lbs  Current=184lbs.  Loss of 82lbs  Still have about 40 lbs to go...I'll get there...but at least I'm super duper healthier!!! That's all that matters in my book right now.  I'm way past the vanity issue, think it has something to do with age...ha!

    Heartburn

Varies from a lot of factors. Surgery. Food. Drinks. Etc. I had excruciating heartburn from before vsg. I haven’t had one bout of it since surgery. I also changed my diet pretty significantly (mostly plant based). Some have it worse though, unfortunately. From the research I’ve done on it, types of food and drinks, and how much consumed are all culprits. Not sure the reasoning behind WLS and still possibly having it. Hope you find relief though.
  24. Hi y’all, I’m just shy of 9 months post. The last couple of months it’s been ridiculous having to sit down. Within ten minutes, my bum gets numb and tingling. I am constantly shifting positions to try and alleviate it some. I’ve been searching for ways to hopefully get rid of it. Main thing is probably to workout my bottom and strengthen the glutes, but I want to hear if anyone has had some success with whatever you’ve done to get rid of the numbness and tingling. Btw...if I sit for 10-15 mins, the symptoms don’t go away at all! I have to go to bed with it still going. A bit frustrating.

I’m sorry to hear...but ya really got to have an open mind to embrace change. We really are having fun with this. So much to learn.
