    Probiotics After WLS

Took them before and taking them after. They do help with regularity due to regulating your gut bacteria, etc. also, I read an article of a test done on people who had WLS and probiotics. Some had the actual probiotic and the other had a placebo. The probiotic group had a 70% better weight loss than the placebo group. Worth taking it, for benefits all around. This isn’t the study I saw before but it’s a nice article about the benefits. https://www.peachtreebariatrics.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/PSB-Probiotics.pdf
  2. I believe Apple1 covered it all! Ditto to that great advice given. Blessings to you on your journey hon! Keep us posted.
  3. Thank you! It’s not very organized, but I’ve got all my Vegan/vegetarian recipes in it. 😁
  4. I say ASAP, was thinking more along the line of my out of pocket expense for insurance will probably have been maxed out by mid-November, so I’d get it all done before it starts over again in Jan. lol
  5. Hey everyone. Sorry, it’s been a while. I made an Indian dish called Chana Saag. First time making it. It’s vegetarian and smells so good. I’ll be serving it over rice for my hubby. No rice for me—still makes me too full too fast. Super easy recipe too, hope y’all can try t out sometime. I added extra curry.
  6. 5 days post op and I was hungry...physically hungry. Now 5 months post op, and still get physically hungry, soooo.....I just need to say, it's ok to be physically hungry! That's a cue your body needs fuel.
  7. Haha! Thank you! I’ll take those numbers.

    Benefits of Fasting

Bodies can’t survive without water. There are different ways to fast too, some do just Sweets, some do animal products, some do a meal or two or all, some do even TV and social media. I’m mixing up the physical and spiritual fasting ways together here. I truly suck at fasting, spiritually, but I try. Currently, I’m “trying” lol with my church for a week. It’s easy because I suck at it. Lol. God knows my heart though. Also, Im a fan of intermittent fasting as well...but don’t think I’ll dive into that until I reach maintenance. I wondered about how fasting plays a role after having WLS, whether for physical or spiritual purposes? Anyone do it post op?? Care to share? Anyway, fascinating science/info about how it cleanses our bodies @Sherry Rice thanks for sharing. Blessings to you on your liquids hon!
  9. Although I’m down such and such lbs, whatever I am now, too lazy to scroll to the previous page and use my brain, I can understand this too. I have days when it’s like, “I know I’ve lost weight and people have noticed, but I still feel the same.” Granted and thankfully it’s not everyday I feel this way, but it’s a mental block that has got to go away cause it’s a lie to myself. So, I totally understand. Just know that you have changed, for being able to do all that walking, etc and it’s easier...if it weren’t looks, it’s definitely health. But you’ve got both the looks and health going for you now as well. Let’s keep on fighting against the lie. Deal? 😁
  10. Great photo!!! I love the running attire! You’re totally a runner!!!! 🏃
  11. Hon, you look fabulous and healthy! Look at that tiny waist y’all! 😊. I hope all is well with you hon. It’s great to hear and see you!
  12. Awwwww, I feel totally the same way!! 😊
  13. Size 6!?!?! Wow...that's amazing. Whoo whoo! You look very good.
  14. Hon I’m sorry to hear but also glad too. Sometimes it’s better for it to be nipped in the bud before it got worse or worse, you’re legally tied. I’m sorry still you have to bear the heartache of it. I pray that you will find comfort and peace and start living happily for you, yourself.
  15. Congrats hon! Here’s to a new healthier you! 👍
  16. Happy 5 months post y’all!!! I do hope some of you come back here with some updates soon. Until then, I hope you all are having fantastic transformations!!! Currently as of this morning I’m 197 lbs. I’ll take it! Even though it’s just 3 lbs loss from last month. The last two months have been moving very slow for me, I’ve had my frustrations and stress over it, but over all that, I am well. I accept the slow results and I’m happy for the losses as well. So, from my highest weight, I am down 69 lbs, whoo whoo! I will try and switch up some things before my next doc follow up at 6mo post. Also currently, I’ve noticed I’m not eating as much as I was just a few days ago. Seems as if I’m limited back to the months 2-3. I ate half an egg this morning and half a veggie breakfast pattie. Yesterday, I barely ate. I struggled to get my liquids in as well. So, not sure what’s going on. I did have an issue with motor skills. Someone recommended B complex vitamins which I bought and started yesterday. Hopefully that’ll solve that issue. I’m thinking it’s all tied in together somehow though. We shall see... Here are some current pics of me at 197. I’m not on the computer to easily navigate to my before pics I’ve posted here, so I’ll find them later and post them again to show a comparison. Now, my belly seems to be the last thing that wants to go down!!!! Lol. I know it will, just kind of wish it would have been the first! 😊
  17. I think I will. It’s about $10,000 here...and i saw one doc giving $1000 off to first time patients. So my goal is to find a reputable doc and get a great deal too. I found one in a Houston, a couple of them actually, but I’m a little leary of having to be in the car for four hours afterwards. I know people donit all the time though. There is one here, but I’ll have to do some more research on him. I like this guy...Dr John Nyugen. http://www.mybodysurgeon.com/ i just about gagged and vomited on this one but I needed to under how it’s done i also watched a Breast lift he did too, again, gagged...but now I know.

    Coffee anyone???

I had terrible heartburn and digestive issues before surgery and drank coffee. After surgery, and five months later, I don’t have any of these problems and I drink both hot and cold brew daily. I guess I’m an exception to the acidity, thankfully. But, I also believe it’s because I eat mostly plant based too, so my body probably handles it better than what it did before (lots of animal and processed foods). There could be all kinds of factors that play to having digestive issues. I’m just thankful my coffee doesn’t with me. 😊

    Popcorn

I’m 5 months and have been eating it for about two months now. No problems for me.
  20. It's been a while on a status for me, but I would like to know if anyone has experienced this about 5 months post op sleeve...it started yesterday.  I eat a bite of something and instantly I feel it hit my stomach.  I've only had a few bites of food today for the sake of my stomach, so I'm very tired (but I've been taking my vitamins) and my motor skills are lacking.  I've dropped many things today.  I feel like I'll just drop myself as well, but I still managed to clean, do laundry, and wash/clean my car.  Usually I'm pretty upbeat and have tons of energy, but this is new.   I'm about to go lay down for a nap just to see if I can revive myself somehow.

@Apple1 I thought that was just me....only eat a couple of ounces, if that, and I feel like I'm stuffed. Guess it's part of the process. I don't mind not eating much, but it did kind of alarm me a little. Trying to stay calm during all these changes and make mental notes that this is normal and easy stuff to correct, if needed.

I think I have read some posts on here where people have said that if you have a day where you eat softer less dense foods your sleeve may seem smaller when you try to eat denser foods again. Maybe that is what is happening? I love my salads, but they are like slider food for me. I think this may be my problem because then if I try to eat some beans or a curry I get full after like 3-4 bites.

@Apple1 makes sense to me. Maybe that is the culprit...cause I do like to eat a lot of kale and I'm grateful I can eat somewhat normal with it, but like you, beans and rice and pasta, makes me way too full. So, a few bites is all I get in. Reminds me...I need to make my kale salad now.

  21. Happy Saturday y’all. I’ve been on RealSelf doing some research for a mommy makeover. The hope to not have so much loose skin is still going, but I also know I need to stay in reality. It’s only 5months and we’ve still got a long ways to go. I think docs suggest waiting until 18 months out and seeing how you maintain at goal as well. Well, I’m jelly again. Mostly because I haven’t been working out like I used to. I did go to the gym three times this past week and am aiming for that or 4 this next week. In the past, working out was fun and I looked forward to going. Now, I feel like it’s a chore (only felt this way the past two months actually—I think it’s because I’m just super busy these days and having to squeeze it in). Now, I ALWAYS feel great once I do it, so I have to battle my feelings of late. I’ve been dreaming of going back to my old schedule of being a stay at home mom. Kids to school and me to the gym most everyday. It was wonderful. But I need to work for a little while longer to obtain total financial peace (debt free). Won’t be long now I hope...but until then, I’ll fight this feeling, of which I’m sure will go away, to go to the gym and get stronger and keep hoping my in will bounce back just a bit. But you know what, even if it doesn’t, I don’t mind, I’m healthier, that trumps my looks. But I’m definitely getting a breast fit!!!! Lol
  22. I took the time to go back to the beginning and read up on all of us in our pre-op and the excitement gearing up to our surgeries. Wow, seems so long ago but only 5 months ago. Crazy! I do miss hearing from most though. Hope you all chime in again soon. 😊
