I often see/think of products that make no sense at all. WHY? and then it was actually made? No one around that person ever thought to ask questions/try it out before it gets done? LOL My biggest question for my current house is the monstrosity in the middle of my kitchen (walls were made, it seems, around this thing). Who in the heck builds a house with a Water heater in the middle? My husband is tired of hearing my question/complaint; been here a year now. I guess that means some more remodeling will be done soon. But first, my moolah goes to my vsg. The monstrosity will have to wait.

I haven't been on here long but I can count the three people I have seen, since I joined not too long ago, who troll these forums with no niceties whatsoever. They quickly judge and shoot down someone with no thoughts to feelings. It's like they were mean fat people that got skinny and didn't bother to leave the mean part of themselves behind. Anyway, how can I block them??? Is there any way? I'd prefer to read encouraging remarks. Sure you don't have to agree, but you can do constructive criticism without the attacks! Happy 9th anniversary to me and my husband today!

Thanks for all of you who chimed in with advise and instructions. Even though I read many posts about tacos, surprisingly I'm not craving any now. LOL I'll learn to ignore and just get out of a thread. I do my best to not post/ask anything that seems it would start something up, because there are a lot of mean people and they like to hide behind a computer. Bet they wouldn't be so forth coming in our faces! I was just upset by someone who wanted to vent and shared her experience only to get attacked about it. It was her experience--nothing that none of us should have said anything BUT encouragements towards or constructive criticism in the nicest way. "Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die" mean folks are only hurting themselves.

I like that very much.... I like it too.

After 93 pnds how can I gain healthy weight (muscle)
Newme17 replied to bariatrica14's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I absolutely agree. When I was at my lowest (normal) weight, I lifted; and didn't concentrate so hard on the Protein without the carbs. So I totally can relate and know it works. Besides, our brains need those healthy carbs coming in. The brain functions off of 80% of carbohydrates we put in to our bodies. I need to find that stat somewhere before someone jumps in saying it's not true. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Thank you. I don't see it on the mobile app though. I'll log on the pc then. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

After 93 pnds how can I gain healthy weight (muscle)
Newme17 replied to bariatrica14's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm a woman and I love lifting heavy. I am doing it now to build more muscle before my surgery. Intermittent fasting also helps. Not sure it works with WLS, but I think I read someone doing IF and weights too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
All I found was to report someone. But I don't know if reporting really works. Would like to find out. And it wasn't even geared towards me! I was reading someone else's story and the attacks flew. It was so sad! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Did anyone go see a mental health provider to get cleared BEFORE starting their process with a bariatric center? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yes, mine was simple. An online survey then an hour call from a psychologist or psychiatrist and a pleasant conversation. $50. The rest my insurance paid for. Also had to go to a nutritionist. sonkat5355 I like the online survey part...seems more likely to get to get as much info about the patient beforehand. (If I were a doc). You get your surgery!!! ...if it were as simple as that, eh? I go in about two weeks for my first consult. How was your visit with the doc? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App It was great. I liked him a lot. And I was so surprised he spent so much time with me answering my questions. As to what comes next, you're right! People seem to be all over the place between what the surgeons require and what the insurance companies require that I have no idea what happens next for me specifically. Had I been reading this site well beforehand, I would have had better questions... I agree. There's not one script to go by. I try to get my info as best as I can but ultimately, it'll be my walk. At least I'll have some information to go by. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

3 times? I wonder if you went with a staff doc it would have been just once??? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So I'm assuming most centers would have someone on staff then?

Anyone who does not count calories? Ever?
Newme17 replied to Newme17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for sharing! That's exactly what I think would happen anyway. I love to workout so I don't have the problem of not doing it (besides the current pain in my hip--but I still did weights on the upper body last night) and I don't want to bother with a bunch of numbers either. So much hope!!! Yeah! Thanks again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Thinking About Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Newme17 replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Uh, weight loss surgery isn't just for old people, you know. Sometimes it's the best option, no matter what your age. What a silly thing to say? You're right, age isn't a matter. I don't consider myself old, at 38, and I'm getting it done to prevent health issues. I'm actually surprised to hear someone on this forum say "eat right and exercise". Well, we all know that's true! But hey, a tool to HELP us do that works!!! This is why I won't tell my parents...people feel like they always know what's best for someone else. I say, let's support and encourage one another for the decisions they've made. Sure, you can share your experience, with however you managed to lose weight, but let the individual make their own decision. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Thinking About Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Newme17 replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on the decision! You will do well. I had two miscarriages and two babies delivered. I never thought I had an emotional eating problem until the loss of my first baby. So I wholly understand your pain. But God is good, we have tools to use to put our bodies back where he'd like us to be, healthy!!! I can't have any more babies, but I'm getting the sleeve myself to prevent health issues that'll keep me from my kids and family now. Keep us posted on your journey. We're here to support you. .
