I think it’s awesome you doing everything from scratch. I need to follow suit...maybe when my four year old finally gets to kindergarten and I have time to do it! 😊

My loss has slowed but I’m not complaining. It’s still going down though. The main thing for me is the fact that I know my body is healthy; the whole reason for me to get the surgery. Not for vanity, although it’s an added bonus. I’m at against keto anything and for sure anything high animal proteins after reading how our bodies react to them in long term. This is not a ploy to scare ya, but I hope you’d be open to the science behind how your body works. The western diet hides these truths because they’re in the money making business. If you are interested, read Proteinaholics by bariatric surgeon Dr garth Davis. It’s really amazing. Science and sources and it’s easy to understand.

    Raw Veggies

I had salad first. Don’t remember when but I did chew it down pretty good. Haven’t had an issue. Hopefully you won’t either! Rooting for ya!

    Dr. Matthew Weiner

@JohnnyCakes you may not like this, but check out this video. I am wrong, it can make you heavier. I will for sure advocate Dr Greger. https://nutritionfacts.org/video/chicken-big-poultry-and-obesity/

Oh...well, I avoid chicken. Lol. Chicken isn’t all that great for you either, but I don’t believe it could be the only source of getting someone fat, unless maybe tons of fried chicken and processed nuggets, again fried. In fact, I think a lot of meat is bad for you. So...I can’t really argue against his avoidance of chicken, maybe how he presented it though, but again, I don’t know if that’s how he truly presented it either. I guess I’ll do some more digging. If he’s certainly pro-veggie, fruit, and grains for diet, then I’ll probably like him. LOL. BUT I do not like the Dr V challenge, that’s still just awful IMO. But it’s good food, at least. 😊

    Dr. Matthew Weiner

I have yet to look him up and see what he’s about, but I wonder, what’s your take on why he is? Update: well I couldn’t find much other than the book being for sale and I couldn’t find what he really promotes lifestyle wise either. But I did find some kind of Dr V challenge which is just terrible. I’m guessing the challenge is for normal stomachs...and even if so, it’s still terrible. Way too low of calories, that’s a recipe for weight gain. Anyone has any input on this this guy, I’m intrigued, but not so much as I am with Garth and Weiner and Greger.

All? So if you are some quinoa you’d feel like eating another serving? I don’t get that way with complex carbs. For sure simple...like donuts and crap.

    Stomach pain while sleeping

To me it sounds as if it’s just pressure on your healing stomach. But if it’s continuing I’d definitely let your doc know.
  9. Need to incorporate more fruit in. I could eat KALE all day, but starting today, my first snack of the day will only be fresh fruit.  On today's menu it's MANGO.

Here are some awesome facts about mango.  Enjoy!

    Did your sex life change?

Same here. Hubby stays happy and I'm happier.

    Stomach pain while sleeping

I don't recall stomach pains at 3 months; but I did have some early on, just from healing. Any specifics...like where is this dull pain located? Lower? Around the belly button? Upper? Right side? Left Side? or just a general all over? Have you been checked for a hernia?

    Early stall??

If you're body is constantly changing, whether it be a lbs or inches, that IMO is not a stall. Try not to focus so much on the scale number, it will go up and down, and so many get frustrated and start stressing...and we all know that stress isn't good. Stress, can really keep you in a "stall" Relax...take the cue from those before you and know that these things will happen. Stick to your program and it'll come off. Be encouraged and blessings on your journey hon.

    Dr. Matthew Weiner

@LELH she stole the warm and fuzzy feeling right out of me for you! LOL I eat plant based as well. I also love to learn from Dr Michael Greger. (I will always be grateful for @fruitandveggiesfor sending him to me!!! lol ) He's got a non-profit organization, the website is https://nutritionfacts.org/ ,a whole load of information he puts out there for free and why we should eat lots of veggies, fruits, legumes, grains, etc. But not only that, it's the science and explanations for everything, and IT JUST MAKES SENSE!!! Also, Dr Garth Davis, bariatric surgeon, and author of Proteinaholic, had to renounce his previous book that had everything to do with eating high protein, due to his failing health and his quest for a better one. Early on post op, I did focus a bit more on the protein as suggested. I did substitute a lot of it with plant protein though, and tried to finish the Premier protein that was covered by my insurance at that time, but about 3 months post op, I made the switch to not worry about it anymore, that is, I don't count any nutrients. I'm almost 9 mo post now and all is well. Blood work is excellent too; I take my multi (currently it's the Flintstones chewable and my B12). It's totally doable...but the best part is, you will know your insides are healthy!
  15. That, I will try and probably love then!! My favorite kind of dressings...mmm, yum! I confess, now all this talk of a different dressing, I just may make some now. Haha!
  16. @FluffyChix haha, Not to me! Most are made with mayo and I can’t stand that stuff. 😂
  17. Your concoctions are pretty amazing. I needed you during my pre-op....oh well.

    Little Green getting little(r)

I second Fluffy on that. I was scheduled to have my tubes tied a few years ago and found out my husband’s insurance was changing at the same time. I called and explained the situation and so they moved it up to make sure the surgery was in the clear. It’ll be worth trying!!

    Carbs!

    Don't know, don’t count. So glad I haven’t been a victim....those terms though, O M G!
  20. Today’s dinner is brought to you by Two Peas and Their Pod. Lemon Orzo Salad with Asparagus Spinach and Feta. Yum! I made it early cause we’ve got somewhere to be. This way dinner is ready when we get home! Can be warm or cold. Omit the feta and it can be vegan too. Still just as good! https://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/lemon-orzo-salad-with-asparagus-spinach-and-feta/

FYI...I don’t count anything, but maybe how many bottles of water I’ve had. Lol

    hair loss

I stopped counting protein about that time. After reading a book by a bariatric surgeon, Dr Garth Davis, called Proteinaholic, it was evident to me that there wasn’t any need to cram so much of it into my diet. If I eat the right nutritious foods, I’d get the requirements needed in. Alas, some folks need to know, and that’s okay too. From what I’ve read (this book has science and sources from all over) we don’t really need as much as the western diet says. I probably eat on average maybe 40 g a day. Eating lots of veggies and grains, and even fruit will get that for ya. Ive had three blood work ups since my surgery and not one of them states I’m at a deficit of anything. 😊
  23. I had greens since pre-op diet and even immediately post-op. My NUT approved of what I’ve shared on BP before, my green bombs. It’s a mix of leafy greens, green apple, avocados, anything green really...and water. Blended really good, poured in ice cubes and frozen. When I made my protein shakes early on, I dropped one of them in with it and was able to get my veggie/fiber nutrition in as well, (It was all liquid. 😊 ) until I got further out and just ate them.
  24. I do not have any social media platform. This is all I get on the internet, so....What’s on my mind!?!? Why this world is full of evil people. A family friend was stabbed last night in his home church and he’s in critical condition. Another was stabbed to death. I’m so angry 😡 😤 😠

@Sleeve1stFitNext, thanks hon. Update, our friend is pulling through. He's the pastor of that little home church. I was even more angry to find out that the suspect did it in front of his young children too! Imagine the horrors they saw and are thinking? SMH. Still reeling over this, but all will be well, thankfully. Now, we'll be praying for the family of the guy who did die. So sad. :(

@Newme17That is awesome that he is going to pull through. I feel bad for the children. That is going to be hard to get over. They will need a lot a therapy to get better. I hope that they also can come out of this stronger. It will be hard and they will have nightmares but with the right help, they can overcome this horrific hurdle.
