Today I met my surgeon and now the fun begins! I'm required to do a 3 month supervised diet, and I surprised the doctor, because I started this in November and Friday is my 3rd and final appointment! He said that is great and is kind of fast tracking to my Surgery date! Most likely it will be at the end of March or the beginning of April! I have to see a hematologist because 3 yrs ago I had bilateral pulmonary emboli and they never found out why I had these, so he said it's better to be safe than sorry! Next Monday I meet with the dietician and go to my lifestyle changing class! I also need an EGD due to reflux and to see if I have a hiatal hernia. Then my psych appointment. Most of it will be done this month! I'm so excited! I was supposed to have RNY about 4 yrs ago, but I left my husband, and I had too much going on to do it. Now I can say that I already lost 220 lbs, when I left him! So, I hope to meet some people on here that are having surgery around April. I'd like to have support and to give support! Thanks for your support! I unfortunately have had a number of abdominal surgeries and have dealt with the recovery. Your suggestion about the pillow is awesome. I've never tried that. I've had an exploratory surgery when I was 15 due to an issue with my right ovary. I had torsion of it and a baseball sized cysts. Part of my ovary was necrosed and had to have part of it removed. When I was 17, I had a cholecystectomy for stones and jaundice. I had more surgeries over the years for stage 4 endometriosis, I had an emergency C-section, right ovary removed, an appendectomy, and a total hysterectomy. Ugh! I kind of have an idea about the pain and such, so I'm not nervous in that respect, but (this sounds funny) I am so nervous about the IV! I'm a horrible stick and once had 9 tries to get it! I'm hoping to have them give me a central line, like I did for my hysterectomy. That is one needle stick! WOOHOO! Ok, I've babbled enough for now. Thanks!

I'm pre-op and I have an infuser bottle. There is no straw on the one I got. You can put all different things in it to liven up plain Water. I got mine on Amazon. Just search for water bottles/infusion bottles and you'll find them. I paid $12 for mine! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I use stevia in my chilled herbal teas. Will it be ok to use this after RNY surgery? I like it because it helps to have variety not just plain Water. Any advice is welcome! Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello! My name is Colleen. I am at the very beginning of my journey to a healthier me! I started on 11/22/16 with my PCP for my 3 month supervised diet for my insurance. I weighed in at 258.8 lbs. My highest weight was 268.0 lbs. I then had my next appointment on 12/22/16 and weighed in at 244.0 lbs. This surprised me for the better. I will have my next appointment on or after 1/22/17. And I see my surgeon for the first time on 1/30/17. Of course that can't get here fast enough! I know I will have a ton of preop tests and that is fine. I know with each day I am closer to a healthier me. I'm just here to introduce myself and get familiar with the site. I need all the help I can get and everyone on here seem awesome and encouraging! I quit on my birthday-9/10 and did it cold turkey. They want you nicotine free because it makes you more prone to blood clots. In December 2014 I had blood clots in my lungs and it scared the hell outta me. So in quitting I've helped to keep myself clot free post-op. I don't have a surgery date yet. I'm going for RNY and the thing that sucks most is I have to pay my deductible prior to surgery! I have a spin down deductible and it is currently $6700.00! I have almost all the money saved, so hopefully I'll get a surgery date in February or March.
