RunningWithScissors got a reaction from catwoman7 in For the 45+ crowd
I am 55 and have a baby face and have always looked much younger than I am, but I am fully prepared that once this fat is gone those wrinkles are gonna come out BIG time. But I would rather be wrinkled and be able to walk without excruciating back and knee pain, so I guess this is my fate too.

I know exactly what you mean. I tell everyone I have reverse anorexia. I think I'm less fat than I really am.

RunningWithScissors got a reaction from Crafty Li'l Devil in SURGERY DAY!
The pre op diet was the worse part of the whole thing for me. I was so freakin hungry! The post op has been a piece of cake in comparison because I have zero hunger for the first time in my life! My understanding is that hunger does eventually return but I am enjoying the hell out of it right now!

RunningWithScissors got a reaction from toofatnopants in Staples, glue, or Steri-Strips?
Glue and those steri strip things for me too. It's 5 days post op for me and the steri strips are getting loose. The doctor said to just let them come off on their own.

I'm excited for you! I was scared and thrilled at the same time too! I am only 5 days post op, but honestly, so far I have had no problems and very little pain. I never even had to take the pain Meds they sent me home with (I did this as outpatient surgery.). Don't be scared, it was way less painful than I imagined.

RunningWithScissors reacted to nctider in My sleeve surgery seems almost too easy. So far.
I am right at 4 weeks and I haven't had any issues besides going through a 10 day stall. I had zero pain, zero gas, zero swelling issues. Energy was back by day 4. I do get hiccups if I eat to fast but it's a good warning sign to stop eating. Hopefully the stall will lift soon but this isn't a quick fix so I am in this for the long haul.

RunningWithScissors got a reaction from criolelaie in My sleeve surgery seems almost too easy. So far.
I just had my surgery this morning (outpatient.). Sleeve along with a hernia repair. Surgery was at 9 AM, was discharged at 11:30 AM. I haven't had ANY pain meds since leaving the hospital and am having absolutely no problems getting my Water and popsicles down. This ssems suspiciously easy. LOL. What's up with that?

RunningWithScissors reacted to blizair09 in Already sleeved question
Thankfully, no one has had the gall to say that (at least to my face). But if they did, I would probably go into a laundry list of everything I have to do and monitor daily, and remind them that, surgery or not, losing 160 pounds (and counting) is a remarkable and rare feat. Then I would tell them to bite me and fiercely walk away! :-)

RunningWithScissors got a reaction from leslaine in My sleeve surgery seems almost too easy. So far.
I have prepared myself that this will probably stop being easy at some point. I have very little gas. At least it isn't causing me too much discomfort. i have just read so many posts where they couldn't get down the smallest amounts of Fluid and were in excruciating pain. That's what I was prepared for, so this seems like a stroll through the park.

RunningWithScissors got a reaction from fjsfls1202 in Sleeving Tomorrow!
I'm only 5 days out from my surgery, but honestly that damn pre-op diet was worse than the post-op period for me so far. At least I'm not starving now! I have no feelings of hunger for the first time in my life. And the surgery was nothing compared to what I had imagined it to be in my mind. Seriously, it was not bad at all. Not even particularly painful. But we all have different experiences and I know some had it much rougher. I hope that yours is as easy as mine was.
Having to track the Protein and fluids is a chore and sometimes I fall behind in that area, but it's a huge change, so it will take me awhile to get good at that.
Keep us posted! Anxious to hear about your experience !

A little nervous and a little like I can't wait to get this over with. I'm getting all sorts of bad headaches too. Hungry all the time, and feeling very cranky. Can't wait for it all to be over either.

RunningWithScissors got a reaction from Jazzzyjay in 64 oz of fluids 5 days post op...no way...
These Protein Shakes are really getting me down. They make my stomach feel yucky and keep me from drinking other liquids for quite awhile after I drink one. The powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup flavored Protein powder dissolved in some warm water goes down WAY easier.

RunningWithScissors got a reaction from Lenamarie301 in Can anyone tell me when they felt normal? Hit the safe zone? Day 4 post surgery feeling overwhelmed [emoji20]
As someone that is now 5 days out from surgery, and therefore much more experienced than you (ha ha!) I am guessing it will be several months before I feel "safe." Meaning, no longer worried everyday that some complication is right around the corner. I have not had a difficult recovery so far at all, I just worried that my age would possibly hinder my recovery but so far so good. I think we would do ourselves a favor to relax a bit and not look for trouble!
I think it is natural that something this life changing will be consuming our very being for quite some time.

Well that is interesting! Thanks for posting that explanation regarding stalls. I am a science nerd, and I loved learning the science behind the mysterious stall!

I was a little sceptical about doing this outpatient at first. I did a fair amount of research and many recent studies in the last two years have been published that say that this surgery is safe outpatient. Of course i only have my own experience to draw from, if i was having complications I would be singing a different tune.

I'm 4 days out from surgery and hadn't had a BM. Finally used the Smooth Move tea and it worked, but it did give me bad stomach cramps.

Glad to hear someone else had a relatively easy time at the beginning. I was starting to feel like something was wrong to feel this good. LOL
I am fully prepared for this to get tougher when i start eating pureed food. Hope it's not too difficult. I did start experiencing some gas pain about an hour ago but not too bad. It probably helps that my husband is forcing me to walk for 5 minutes every hour, like the doctor ordered. Honestly i'm not disciplined enough to do on my own so its good he stayed home with me this week.
