Hi everyone. My surgery was 12/27. I'm just now getting past the pain in my side. It's still sore, but at least the stabbing pain is gone.
So weird how different diets are. I've been on soft foods starting two weeks out. It's lots of foods. Just no dense Proteins like kids e chicken breast or steak, no raw fruits or veggies, no nuts, no rice, Pasta or bread.
I'm ok with foods, but I've also over eaten a few times and been sick. I can eat only about two ounces over thirty minutes. Fish has been my friend. eggs don't agree with me, but it's not horrible. I still can't eat an entire scrambled egg.
Weight loss is great. I'm happy with that. But the best thing is to be rid of the pain. That will wear you out.

@@Alexis halibut is one of the most dense fish so it's not surprising it's hard to tolerate. A month and half postop and I still can't handle even the lighter fish like catfish or cod in tiny bites :-(

@ dvallas ... I know what you mean. So...Last night was rough with the halibut, not really sure if I overcooked it but it was like way to meaty for me. I got sick a few hours later I tried some pulled chicken I measured it to 2.5 ounces all was going well and then I tried one or two bites of avocado, and then that put me over the edge major stomach pains throwing up for at least an hour or two. I really don't know when I'm full with this new stomach , in pureed Stage I was able to tolerate a half cup sometimes a tiny bit more as long as I measured I was good. it seems the solid food is taking up more room my stomach. Merry Christmas everyone. 2 and a half weeks post op and down 33 pounds! It's gonna be a Happy New Year for sure :-)
Today I used the pressure cooker to make a delectable chicken thigh / cauliflower / broccoli / onion / potato stew. I cut, seasoned and seared the chicken thighs along with the onions then added a can of chicken broth (plenty of THAT on hand lol). Then sliced and seasoned the potatoes and put them on top. Finally added a bag of cauliflower/broccoli florets which I had already steamed. Added a can of Water, closed the top, and ran the pressure cooker on the poultry setting twice. 1 hour later my family enjoyed full bowls of stew while I helped myself to 3 ounces of cut-up thigh pieces and 1 ounce of cauliflower/broccoli pieces. The chicken was wonderfully flavorful and the veggies were so savory and soft that they just melted away in the mouth like whipped potatoes. Two spoons of broth in my bowl kept the chicken moist but I didn't have the Soup part other than that. I share all this because I finally found a solution to my biggest challenge thus far, which has been the agony of cooking for my family while not being able to have ANY myself. I am SO glad for this electric pressure cooker, I see it is going to be a life saver. And the best part was that the 4 ounces measured out at about half a cup in volume and with the tiny bites it was slightly more than I could comfortably finish.
Everyone please BE ENCOURAGED especially those in the first 14 days post op, I promise IT WILL GET BETTER!!

Try "New Whey Shots". It's only 3.8 ounces and has 40-42 grams of protein! And they taste great, I personally loved all the flavors (Acai, Watermelon etc.) except for the fruit punch flavor. Our nutritionist said to pour the shot tube out into a cup and then add 1 tube of Water to dilute it. Total is under 8oz and you get half your Protein for the whole day! It was a godsend for me when I just was NOT IN THE MOOD FOR ANOTHER &@$>{€{} shake lol

I am 2 weeks post op and have been given the green light to try whatever I want.., Protein first of course. I was only able to eat a few very small pieces of Protein ( eggs, ham chicken ) this weekend. Thank you for the encouraging words that it will get better. I love the suggestions on this feed!

I can say this, as much of a struggle as the liquid diet was, losing the weight FEELS better than eating the food would TASTE. Hope that makes sense

The Pacific Organic butternut squash Soup overwhelmed my palate with its, um, complexity. To me it tasted like a mix of Hot Egg Nog + Yellow Curry Power + Mackerel Oil + Tree Bark.
Still, YMMV. I do have some friends that swear by it!
(I merely swore AT it tho)
    Goooood luck :-D

I feel the same way dvallas. Im so sick of Protein shakes and almost sick of the Soups now. I'm going through some serious grieving of food right now. Baked goods and pizza seem to be everywhere. I'm realizing how much food has meant to me in my life and I'm feeling lost without it!

@@bananashake I have so many TJ's favs I get excited just thinking about it. I have my freezer stocked with the fish nuggets my entire fam likes them. The stuffed lobster is in the feezer as well. I also like the orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, chicken fried rice, organic ketchup, cheese curls and puffs, garlic olive oil, dried fruits, etc. I also like their multi Vitamins and body butter. They are not on my side of town because I'm in a more rural area so when I go I really stock up .
As far as my post op exp. I have my good days and my bad days. My biggest challenge is trying to stay hydrated. Today was one of my worst days yet. I felt like i did well with liquids yesterday and my urine was light yellow however this a.m. my urine was amber. So now I'm thinking that I should also try drinking liquids throughout the night.
