  1. I'm diabetic, and tried Byetta a few times. I just couldn't handle the nausea. I hear they are testing a new version of it that you would only have to take once a week, but that probably won't be available for a few years. I'm getting banded on Apr. 11.
  2. Double check w/ Sue, but I think the support group meets the second Tuesday of every month in one of the conference rooms in Building 1850.
  3. Tell us how the liquid diet goes. I am dreading it, but I'm so "psyched" now, I am determined to do everything right. Have you been to one of the support group meetings? I'm planning on going to the April meeting.
  4. Colorado -- Have you already had your pre-op appointment with Dr. P? If so, can you tell me what happens? My pre-op is March 31, and I have to start the liquid diet on Apr. 4. Do they recommend certain protein shakes, or can you just pick one you like?
  5. I am a Type 2 Diabetic and take insulin and two oral meds. I'm scheduled for LapBand surgery on Apr. 11, and my surgeon says I should be able to get off of the insulin fairly quickly and also off of at least 1 of the oral meds. If you are Diabetic and have a LapBand, were you able to decrease/eliminate your medication, and if so, how long did it take? Thanks.
  6. Are you planning any "last meals" of things you may not be able to eat after banding? One of my favorite meals is German beef roulades and sticky dumplings. The beef is not the most tender, and from what I've heard may be difficult to eat with the band, and the dumplings probably aren't very band friendly either. So I asked my mom to make this for me. Also going out with my husband for a good steak dinner at Ruth's Chris.
