  1. My name is Adrianna, and I am 16 years old and I'm from New Jersey. As of the 5th grade (I am now a Junior in high school), I hit puberty which had caused me to gain weight. I had been bullied because of my height (I'm 5'10) and my weight. The bullying stoped once I became a freshman in high school. Everyday a student OR teacher/staff would pass a fat comment, or a remark about my weight. I begged my parents to homeschool me so I wouldn't have to deal with this. The day I came home crying because I was threatened, my mom knew it was time for me to seek help. My parents took me to my pediatrician, and he made me get blood-work done for EVERYTHING. The blood results always came back clear, and there was nothing wrong with me. My parents took me to St. Barnabas to see an endocrinologist since my parents didn't believe that I was okay. I was 14 at the time. She tested me for CPOS and Diabetes. It turns out I was positive for Type 2 Diabetes (my father has it), and I also tested positive for CPOS. The endocrinologist was very upset with my doctor since he kept testing me for the wrong stuff all my life, and she was mad when we told her he doesn't treat kids with diabetes and CPOS. At this point, she suggested that I join to a gym and see if that will help me lose weight on my own. I went to the HackensackUMC Fitness & Wellness Powered by the Giants in New Jersey for about 8 months, and I had a personal trainer 5 days a week who made sure I would lose weight. He worked me out to the fullest. I weighed 350 pounds at that time, and I would go there almost every single day and work out but my numbers would NOT move, so we decided to see the endocrinologist again. She said that it's finally time for surgery. She recommended us to Dr. Sadek in Somerville, New Jersey who specializes in adolescents to adults. I met with him in February, and I told him my story. He said that he would do it since I had no other choice. I dieted, I exercised, I did everything to lose weight and he knew I was struggling. I had to go see many doctors just to get approved. My original surgery date was April 5th, 2017. The insurance had denied it because it was not a "medical emergency" and I was not 100% skeletal. We appealed the surgery, and a month later I had gotten approved. My surgery was on May 24th, 2017. It was hard for me to learn new eating habits from a sippy cup to a baby utensil. I am now 6 weeks out. I had lost 35 pounds. My CPOS facial hair is almost gone. It's very light hairs. Before the surgery, I kept to myself and didn't talk as much because of the bullying. Since I got the surgery, I am WAY more confident in myself and I have my new friends to support me throughout this journey. I'm glad I got this surgery done because I feel great.

Congratulations sweetie keep up the good work and keep us posted[emoji3]

  2. I've been making this lately and it's so good and satisfying! (Im 8 months post op so no food restrictions as long as they are healthy)
BLT, but I use iceberg lettuce instead of bread. For me personally, I watch my carbs and don't worry as much about fats.
I use crisp bacon, Tomato, mayo, and iceberg.

Looks good ! I am going to try it but I'm substituting the bacon with turkey bacon which is great! I don't eat pork!

  3. Thanks Joann454. I'm not sure how many calories but I'd be surprised if it's any higher than 400. Thank God I have 6 weeks off work, there's no way I could work. Typically been eating 2 Premiere Protein Shakes, a cup of chicken broth, a popsicle here and there and a high Protein cream of chicken Soup mix I ordered off Amazon. 15 grams per serving. And Water. That's about it. 8 days out today. We have a 2 story house so I go up and down stairs but even that wipes me out.

It takes time to heal! I could not even think about washing my hair I was too weak! I went to the salon and got mine done! Sip on your water all through the day and check your Vitamins they may not be enough in them! You may have to double them and take it one day at a time your body has gone through a shocking experience! Heal slow! To live long !

  7. Today on my scheduled I could eat a salad so I was so excited because I love salads . I haven't had one since January. So I fixed my 2 ounces of garden salad with a forth of a Tomato and put Low fat Ranch dressing on it! I ate it very slowly it took me over 30 minutes to eat 1/2 of it but I don't like the way it's digesting! I feel bloated and am gassy had to take a gas strip and I'm drinking lots of Water ! Have any of you all had this feeling after eating a salad?

  8. That is fantastic!!!! Are you using any weights or only cardio? Do you mind me asking what your starting weight was? I'm almost 3 months post op and this last month has been slow for me

Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app

That picture of me is at my second home the YMCA lol I am doing Water cardo exercise in the pool and we do use weights on Thursdays is water blast class that's like a high dose of water zumba! 30 minutes before each class I run on the treadmill for 2 miles and then I go into the weight room and lift weights! I'm at the Y 5 days a week for about 3 to 4 hours a day! I rest on Saturdays and Sundays! Oh by the way I'm 60 years young [emoji1434]emoji1434]

  9. WHEN ARE WE ALLOWED TO EAT SALSA? I AM MEXICAN-AMERICAN AND I LOVE MAKING SALSA AND EATING IT WITH JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING. SOOOO, I WAS WONDERING HOW FAR IN ARE WE ALLOWED TO EAT IT?

Hi! If you install the Bariatric IQ App to your phone it helps you know what foods you can eat at your stage of surgery ! It helps me a great deal!

  10. Got some great news from the scale this morning, I'm officially down 100.4 pounds from my starting weight of 314.6 on 12/7/16. That was the date I started my pre-surgery diet, and my surgery date was 12/21/16. I never dreamed it would work out so well. So close to my ultimate goal, but this was an unofficial goal for two reasons. First, 100 pounds just sounds nice [emoji4] Second, when I did Weight Watchers about 10 years ago, the lowest I ever got was 214, so I wanted to get there again. Before that, I can't even remember the last time I was so low, maybe 25 years ago. Anyway, just wanted to share!

    Congratulations [emoji898][emoji324]

Its been a really long time since i was happy to take photos. I took a photo last wk and OMG, i look cute, omg looks like the old me, yaaay omg no double chin. So i spent the whole wknd out with freinds completing me on how great i look and taking photos [emoji2]. For some time i was really annoyed with my sister, paparazzi wannabe who never filters and her damn Facebook. Always had me looking like a cow that got hit by a truck. It got so bad i was hiding from the cameras and declining invites because of my weight. Thank u DrN for my surgery. Im so happy. Its working, i feel great and i wanted to share it with my fellow sleevers.
First few months were hard but ive turned the corner 2 happyland [emoji38].
Hope every1 else is doing good.

    Woohoo
...summer 2017 here we come :-)

    You go girl [emoji1303]

  12. I am 5 months post VSG and 60 lbs down. I have about 20 left to lose. I work out 6 days a week 2 or 3 times a day but 20-30 min each: running/walking/weights. I keep stalling and wonder if I'm only taking in 900-1000 calories and very low carbs if it's not enough and I should increase. Anyone have experience with this?

Increase your Water intake and raise your heart rate up a little more! Your body has gotten use to the usual workout your doing!
