I had mini gastric bypass surgery. On October 10th and my surgeon instructed me not to lift anything heavy for six months.

I will get discomfort if I lift something such as Water cases that weigh almost thirty pounds. The discomfort is on my left side . I'm 5 months post op. Rny. Your probably just fine but are right to check with your Dr.

I suggest you return you $600 3 and 1 machine and use that money for therapy for your obvious food issues. We all have them. We just have to find ways to work with them and overcome them the best we can. You're struggling, and therapy for you I think would really help you understand why you feel you don't deserve to live a healthy life and want to turn to food for comfort. A therapist or counselor can give you the proper tools to work with, and if you utilize them, it can really help.
That being said, don't panic! All is not lost. You still have that great tool you can work with. Go back to what worked in the beginning, following the "rules" of WLS.
Protein, Protein, protein. This helps with hunger and keeps you fuller longer. At least 90 grams a day.
Fluids, fluids, fluids. No calorie/no calorie fluids to keep things nice and lubricated and moving along. You pee a lot, and it helps with weight loss. Find anything you like that's low/no calories that you can drink. I drink herbal teas, coffee, flavored squirty stuff in my Water to get my 64oz in. And I hate it. But it has to be done.
The best way to kick sweets and carbs like bread, rice and crackers is to just cut them out completely. Period. Sure you're white knuckling it for the first couple weeks, but once you get past the hump, the cravings subside and you almost forget even wanting them.
I eat clean, stay mostly away from processed foods, but I eat as much lean protein (and sometimes not so lean) as I want. I eat butter, full fat cheese, full fat mayo, dressings, bacon, etc. The payoff for not eating sweets and white carbs often is eating this way, and it keeps me satisfied and I don't feel like I'm being deprived. You should try it.
We can't find the motivation for you, but we can help by giving you suggestions for success. There's mine.
    Good Luck!

IUD is perfectly safe for women who have not had children. Doctors who don't recommend it are using old reasoning (because the cervix is tighter and can cause more discomfort after implanting). Best decision I've made was to get the IUD. It was uncomfortable for the first few days but afterwards, no periods, no more cramping, and I don't have to remember taking the pill everyday.
Weight loss doesn't inhibit birth control, it makes one more fertile because of less adipose tissue. So yes, use birth control and use backup if you're really worried.

I also take psych meds and there is no way I'd either change or get off them. I've had no problem swallowing pills since my surgery but I've had to make sure I don't gulp too much Water when taking them. Heck, I didn't even get my meds liquified after having a Nissen Fundoplication and after that surgery I couldn't even swallow cold Water or berry seeds in smoothies! I love the world according to eggface and bariatric foodie to be great sites. I like the posts on Bariatric Eating but find the administraters to be very scolding and harsh. we have had enough of that in our lives. if you can ignore them the recipes and eating plans are super

BariatricEating.com, "The World According to Eggface" blog, "Bariatric Foodie" blog are three that I find very helpful.
But if you could find a Nutritionist in your area that specializes in Bariatric patients, it would probably benefit you the most to have a visit or two with one.

there are several web sites for bariatric patients many of them have recipes and assistance with food plans. the emotional part is an area I do not feel is addressed nearly as well as it should be for bariatric patients. perhaps some counseling ( many insurances will pay) or overeaters anon if there is a chapter in your area. they are also on line and have phone meetings and pod casts. it is not for everyone but it has sure helped me develop a healthy relationship with food. you sound like you are really trying to address your health issues and I am proud of you. Depression is normal after any surgery it is just something you will have to deal with and is not a fun time. you have us so continue to reach out and vent when you need to. best of luck to you

I am going to have surgery this week, I am a nurse. The thing I fear the most is the depression afterwards. I have already thought about the lost of food some how depressing. I realize that looking better will be the bonus. I want less weight on my feet. I want more energy. I wrote a list of reasons I need this and want to loose weight. I promise myself to read it when I am down. At the point you are now you can look how far you come and know that it's only going to be better. You want better health and your working in that direction. Some days are one moment at a time. This is your journey and you will do well.
