  1. I had to do South Beach phase 1 for 7 - 10 days before surgery. My surgeon told me that at the annual bariatric conference this past spring that the docs are starting to move away for an all liquid diet preop. M
  2. When the bad days/times outweigh the good days/time you know it in your heart. We have a 16 y/o dachshund that we struggle with this same question from time to time. Best wishes for your difficult time. Myra

  4. Dody I use the CIB also but I mix mine in skim milk and add a little hersey's chocolate powder. I get 15 gms Protein and 265 calories per 8 ounces. It was all I could drink for a few days after surgery. I don't think doing only Water is healthy. Have you tried the Isopure Ready To Drink protein drinks? They have 40 grams protein in 20 ounces and you can get them at GNC. They are clear so its not like drinking milk. They come in a variety of flavors but the grape seems to be the best liked. Google Isopure for more info. Myra
  5. If your start weight is 288 and your goal is 156 then your excess weight is 132 lbs. 1% = 1.32 10% = 13.2 20% = 26.4 30% = 39.6 40% = 52.8 50% = 66.0 60% = 79.2 70% = 92.4 80% = 105.6 90% = 118.8 100% = 132 Your done time for a celebration!!!!!!!!! :clap2: M

  7. Hi Paige congrats on your decision. It is definitely a life changing event. I'm the one in the family that likes to do the cooking for holidays etc. Haven't been banded long but there are some changes in that I find myself looking for healthier ways to cook. So it's good. Myra
  8. Congrats. Hope this goes well for you. Let us know. Check out the Texas forum under the States section. Myra

  11. Kutia they have to do like a mini seminar almost. You have to be able to say you have been fully informed about the surgery and risks, etc etc etc. My initial one took about an hour but it was with a different doctor. Myra
  12. Glad to hear things are going well for ya'll. Hurry home we miss you. Myra
  13. Hi MissyC I was banded by Dr. Fox at Medical City on May 19th. We just missed each other:cry . How are things going for you? I live in Allen. Welcome to the Texas Forum. If you look under the Lapband Support forum there is a thread for people banded in May 2006. We kind of keep each other updated on how we are doing. Myra
  14. Hey ya'll I have a question. I had my first fill this past Thursday. Four cc in a Vanguard. Definitely swollen afterwards. Friday I drank Protein drinks all day. Saturday and Sunday tiny bits of food chewed thoroughly. This morning I ate two lil smokies and 1/4 of a scrambled egg. So I'm thinking to myself that this isn't very much food. How in the world am I going to eat 1200 calories. I would have to start in the morning and work at it all day. No way to keep the schedule of three to four meals a day. Keeping to semi schedule is very important as I am an insulin dependent diabetic. Although I have been able to cut out my evening dose entirely and my morning dose is less than half of what it used to be. Being hungry is not an issue. Just getting in the calories needed seems to be. I think I am going to start drinking CIB in two cups of skim milk to get some calories/protein in. I also ate an Atkins Breakfast Bar today that had 15 Gms of protein and 150 calories. I am just curious as to what everybody else is doing to ensure that you actually get enough calories to meet your basic needs. Myra
  15. Stitchy I know how ya feel. I went three weeks without losing. Made my appt for my fill. Had to wait a week because of the 4th of July holiday. Lost six pounds that week. But I went to my fill appt anyway. Myra
  16. Congrats on your date. The time will fly by. Myra
  17. They took a picture as the barium passed through my band and it was about the width of a pencil. So yes I do have restriction. However I did have the usual swelling after a fill and today I have only been able to drink Protein drinks and a cup of tomato Soup. I did try twice to eat something soft and it HURT. But I walked around with my hands over my head and it passed the second time pretty quickly The first time it took about 30 minutes for the pain to stop. I know it is a learning curve. At least I didn't slime, PB, pass out or anything of a drastic nature. Myra
  18. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=20377 Check out this thread. It is all people banded this past May. Myra
  19. Hurry home Sherri and let us know how things go. Thinking of ya. Myra
  20. Hi Dennis congratulations on your life changing decision. Indecision and jitters are a common occurrence when going into banding. I personally felt that way for a week or two after banding. But I knew that I had to do something and this just made sense. I am early still in my journey. Six weeks postop now. But I am so glad I have done this. Not only has it helped me but it has inspired my family to seek better health. Let us know when you have a surgery date and how everything goes. Myra
  21. Hi everybody wanted to stop in and see how things are going. I went for my first fill yesterday. Four cc in a VanGuard. Drank a Protein shake when I got home about 3 and then for supper had some refried Beans and chili. No problems. I am a stair step looser. Lose 5 pounds in a week and then nothing for two or three weeks. Oh well. Long as it is going down thats okay. Everyone is doing so good. Myra
  22. My doc told me most of his patients start driving in 3 - 5 days. Myra
  23. Congrats. I hope everything works out like you want it too. Let us know how things go. Myra
  24. Best wishes FD for a smooth surgery and rapid recovery. M
  25. How did things go? How ya feeling? Donna, Stephanie, Jessica. Myra
