The Ongoing Saga of my Dad & my Surgery
jhemp85 replied to Anna Nim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad you are doing well! As the days go by, I hear it gets better and easier. Someone I watch on youtube who is years out is Clusie L. She is hilarious and she does share alot of her experiences with WLS. It may help the days pass are you are Progressing through the different food stages! And yes, it was kinda like an intervention scene with my dad. I'm like dad, I'm good, I got this. Stop sending folk to talk to me about a decision I have made already and 2 months away from. Lol Parents, they mean well.. most of the time, but they are some funny people. *hugs* I tried to find Key of Awesome Ke$ha parody, but this a school computer and everything fun is locked down or I just am not that good! My poor Dad wrote me a handful of VERY well written emails. I know he was just pacing and pacing and pacing his house. I should have called my Dr's office and begged my Dr to call him (my Dad is in Virginia, I am in Texas). Cause I knew my Dad was wearing himself out. He got my brother in on it too. I get this short message, "Come to Colombia, you will lose 20 lbs in a month walking the hills, don't have surgery" (which is alot from him). Then another the night before surgery..."Come to Colombia". My other brother, a PhD in MicroMedical Biology called with questions and technical questions and a reminder that I could always back out. My mom wanted to know why I couldn't just eat carbs, then was like...yea, I know..but did want to know why I was not having a Bypass like on 600 Lbs life. In the end, here I am I wanted to drive to Dallas today, but I think once I get my stuff all packed, I wont have energy for the drive!! Oh--and I got a binder. Wow! What a difference!! I have heard the binder really is helpful! I think and am hoping once your family sees your success and how much more healthy and happy you are, they will be on board with you! Hope you are feeling better! I know it's tough right now, but hoping your recovery will be smooth and speedy so you are able to drive. *hugs* -

How long was your process?
jhemp85 replied to Newbeginnings313's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck, I started this process in July, my surgeon's office is a little different, they scheduled all of my appointments and surgery date ahead of time..I have one more nutritional visit on Monday before submitting to insurance and waiting for approval. I'm excited for you! The time will go by fast! -
My date is tentatively scheduled for February 20th. My last nutritional visit is Monday. Once insurance approves, then I'll be ready! My pre-op appt is January 24th. I am excited about this journey and looking for bariatric friendly recipes for afterwards. Right now I drink Atkins protein shakes. Im.not a fan of premier.

SURGERY EVE: emotions running wild, jitters, sadness, confusion, scared, alone
jhemp85 replied to Gucci's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Praying for you! I have read and watched a few stories of people who have had their surgery in Mexico. I also know someone personally and their procedures went well. They do not regret it at all. Sorry that you do not have anyone going with you, but there will be other patients there with you who will be going through the same thing so you will in a way have a buddy there. Sending prayers for safe travels and a safe surgery as well as a speedy recovery! *hugs* -

My dad is kinda the same. He keeps asking me if I'm sure and sends different people to talk to me about it. Lol -
I can't wait yall! I have my final nutritional visit on Monday 12/19! Then I wait for approval! Time is just trucking away! I have to get my blood work re-done next week as well! We are in this together! *hugs*
-
Yay! How is the pre-op diet going for you? I am going to take my before photos as well!So far so good. I am trying to stomach 2 shakes a day and one meal, but working my way to that. Instead I do one shake, one protein rich snack and then a protein rich dinner. I'm finding an easier time that way. Haven't cut caffeine totally but have cut out Coca cola completely and stopped smoking. I'm on day 3 and not feeling unsatisfied and feeling pretty proud of myself. When I weighed at the docs office Thursday I was 428. On my own scale today I was 418! Can't wait to see your before pics And especially your after pics. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App Hey Crafty, just checking on you? How is the preop diet going? How are you feeling?
