    Just curious..

Yes, I am losing handfuls of hair every time I shampoo. I really hope it stops soon...it's a little un-nerving! I also wanted to report that after my three week stall I'm suddenly losing again, currently at 204. I haven't changed much - maybe a little more stringent on carbs, and I have been tracking again. Good to know that stalls DO pass and it doesn't mean weight loss phase is over!

    Just curious..

Hi All - sleeved on 12/21 and I am in your same boat. I've basically been the same weight/measurements for going on three weeks now. I think this is my first true "stall." I'm trying to keep a positive attitude and focus on the fact that I've lost 36 lbs since my surgery day and more than 60 since my highest weight. I'm also getting back to tracking my food (I have been slacking there), making sure I'm hitting my protein and water goals and working out. I'm hoping this too shall pass. Glad to know its not just me! HW: 270 SW: 244 CW: 208 (for three weeks now!)

    Stall

I was sleeved on 12/21 and have lost 31 lbs since then. I also have a stair-step pattern of weight loss - lose, lose, lose, stall, lose, lose, lose, stall. I am really big on hitting my Protein goal of at least 60g per day and I track everything I eat in My Fitness Pal. I eat small "snacks" every 2-3 hours. I have been in physical therapy to rehab a bad knee that is preventing me from engaging in most cardio exercise, so I have NOT been very physically active at all, but working toward getting there. Here's what I eat in a typical day - usually between 800-1,000 cals. Breakfast - Danon Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt mixed with 1 scoop Genepro Protein powder Snack - String cheese + mandarin orange lunch - Small cup of chicken chili Snack - 1/4 c. tuna salad spread on three wheat crackers dinner - 1/4 c. Bolognese sauce over "zoodles" Snack - chocolate protein powder smoothie mixed with light almond milk and 1 TBS Peanut Butter HW - 270 SW - 244 CW - 213 5'5"

12/20 - No appetite or energy.

Update - adding an Iron supplement helped my energy levels greatly. I think I was anemic. Feeling much better now! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Occasional Mixed Drink?

My doctor cleared me to drink at one month. I have had red wine and it tasted and affected me just the same as before surgery. I just make sure to track it in My Fitness Pal - the calories sure add up fast! Trying to save wine for special occasions and not make a habit of it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I was also sleeved 12/21 and am eating between 600-800 cals a day. I feel like from what I've seen from others, this is pretty typical for this stage. My NUT said not to worry about calories and to just focus on getting at least 80g Protein per day. She said I am burning 2,300 cals per day resting (based on my MedGem analysis) so even if I consumed double the calories I am now I'd still be at a good deficit for weight loss. I only lost .5 lbs last week which is a bummer, but I am chalking up to "that time of the month." Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I'm one month out today and down 18 lbs from my surgery on 12/21, down 38 lbs including my pre-op diet phase. I saw someone post that they'd lost 48 lbs(!) in the four weeks since surgery and I've heard from others that their weight didn't really start to fall off till a couple months post-op. My question is there a "normal" rate of weight loss for VGS, or is everyone truly different? I'm happy with my loss; just wondering if I'm on track and what to expect in the coming weeks and months on this journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone post op from the PNW?

I'm from Seattle area, had surgery one month ago on 12/21. How are you doing so far? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Coffee

I was also sleeved 12/21 and am also dying for coffee. My doctor says not even decaf for two months. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any Post Op MARIJUANA Users?

I live in Washington State where recreational weed is legal and stigma around using marijuana is dwindling. My doctor advised to stay away from alcohol for at least two months post-op so I've been stone cold sober for more than a month now (including pre-op diet phase). I've also wondered if marajuana is a "safe" alternative to drinking post-surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Weighing.

Once a week on surgery day (Wednesday). I also do measurements and keep track in a special notebook just for tracking purposes. I also like to record my thoughts, feelings and challenges/wins so in the future I can look back and remember how far I've come. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    VSG pain vs. c-section pain?

For me, C-section was WAY worse. Laparoscopic surgery is far less invasive and I had much less pain and had more mobility much sooner. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I have Premera Blue Cross in Washington State and was also required to do a six-month dr supervised (and well documented) weight loss program program prior to approval. I did it through my surgeons office and yo-yo-ed quite a bit throughout. I netted out only slightly below my starting weight but was immediately approved. Now happily sleeved, I view the six months of meeting with a dietitian as good "practice" for the real deal and am glad I had the time to do more research and mentally prepare for the surgery. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Got my date!

Hi all - checking in with those 2-3 weeks out. How is everyone doing? I'm down about 12 lbs since my surgery on 12/21, 32 lbs since I started the pre-op diet. I'm doing great with shakes, Soups and Water but struggling with the transition to "soft foods." I can only eat a couple bites before I feel like food is lodged in my throat - very uncomfortable! I also made the mistake of eating a few bites of real chocolate mousse (not sugar free pudding) yesterday and had diarrhea and a rapid heart beat. So, I guess I'd say I'm still learning my way. My pain and gas are completely gone now. Biggest complaint is ongoing fatigue. I feel like I'm sleeping all the time and yawning constantly at work! Not doing much exercise yet. Would love to hear how others are doing? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have not gone to a support group, no. I can see where this would be helpful a little later down the line. I'm only two weeks out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    New kid on the block

Hi guys - I am a 12/21 Sleever too! I am down 10 lbs from surgery day and 30 lbs from start of pre-op diet. My biggest complaint right now is fatigue. I feel like I want to nap all day and I'm back at work this week so I'm feeling it even more. I get to start soft foods on Friday so I'm excited about that. 12/20 - No appetite or energy.

I was sleeved 12/21 and I am right where you are. I feel like the walking dead! I did talk to my NUT and she encouraged me to keep up the Protein and Water (which I've been doing) but I am NOT allowed to have caffeine yet. Uggg. She also said once I transition from purees to soft foods in two days that may help. Glad to know it's not just me who is sleeping all day. We will push through this! 18. I was sleeved one week ago today and recovery has been smoother than expected. I spent the holidays with family at home and didn't even leave the house (or my sweatpants) for the first five days. I was diligent about staying ahead of the pain and took two oxycodone every 4-6 hours as prescribed. Now that I'm entering my second week and getting out and about more I am trying to wean off the narcotics and rely on Tylenol for pain relief. However I'm finding the more active I am, the more fatigued I get and the more irritated and painful my incision sites feel. I feel like I should be able to cope without the Oxy's but Tylenol just isn't as effective and I have a low tolerance for discomfort. How long is too long to stay on pain meds? Are most done with them after a few days, or is it "normal" to use them a bit into the second week? Am I a big baby who needs to just suck it up and accept that a little pain is part of this journey? Oh So Tired!

10 days post opp and all is going well. My biggest challenge right now is extreme fatigue. I'm getting 100+ grams of Protein and all my Water in, averaging around 600 calories. At first I had good energy but for the past three days I have a tough time waking around 8 in the morning and have been napping around 11 am and again at 3 pm and can't keep my eyes open past 10 pm! My three kids and husband are home on holiday break and feel like I'm sleeping away our remaining days together. Kids go back to school and we both head back to work on Tuesday and am worried about how I'm going to function with the daily grind. I just started purees today and daily Multivitamins, Calcium and B12 so I'm hoping that will help. My question for the group is how long does the "zombie" phase last, and is there anything I can do to help power through? Please tell me there's a light at the end of the tunnel...really missing caffeine right now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Puree stage

I jump into purees tomorrow and I'm so exciting to eat something besides Soup and shakes! One suggestion I read that didn't completely turn my stomach was blended chili...anything else appetizing that people are eating in this stage? Fish in a blender = no thank you. Pain Meds - How Long Did You Take?

Thanks all! I did get a refill from my doc but am going to hold on to them for as-needed occurrences. Have been on Tylenol only for two days and doing okay, however I feel exhausted! I'm cat napping throughout the day. Not sure if this is just a coincidence or if the narcotics were giving me an energy boost that I'm missing now?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Shakes

I like ice col Premier Vanilla. I add a few drops of rum extract to make it taste like "egg nog" or coconut extract to make it taste like a "pinacolada." Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. Okay, just figured out how to join this group. My surgery is 2:15 p.m. today, which means I'm currently STARVIVNG and trying to keep my mind of food + keep my nerves in check! Any other Dec. 21 peeps out there? Would love to hear from everyone coming out of surgery. Good luck to all!

    December 21st - Today's the Day!

Hi all - I was also sleeved 12/21 and have the same burning/pulling pain around the incisions on either side of my belly button. I'm still taking my pain meds every four hours (I took time off work so I'm just puttering around the house). I'm wondering if I am supposed to be weaning off the pain meds and trying to manage with just Tylenol? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
