    Genepro Protein?

@scipuobabe - I really like the unjury chicken broth but I the unflavored is terrible! It clumps up and tastes very strongly of whey to me. Sounds like people are liking GENEPRO unflavored? (Despite how many grams of Protein it may or may not have). Any other unflavored favorites? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. My surgery was at 3 pm yesterday and I was awakened at about 4:30. I spent the night at the surgery center and husband picked me up first thing this am. My incisions aren't sore..the only pain I'm having is from gas! I'm having no trouble with liquids, just have to remember to sip slowly or I end up with what feels like a big air bubble in my throat. I ate some Jello for Breakfast and got painful hiccups afterwards. Is that my body's cue that my new tiny tummy is FULL? It's going to be hard to wrap my head around how very little I'll be eating now. Many people on these boards say that had no appetite, had trouble drinking Water and even the smell of food cooking made them ill. I'm not finding that at all. I'm thirsty and am sipping water constantly. My head feels hungry and my family's eggs and bacon this am looked and smelled delicious as I slurped my Jello. Is this normal? Day 4 Post-Op - Is This Normal?

I'm on day six and feeling much better physically. The incisions on either side of my belly button are the most sore and irritated. The rest of my incisions don't hurt but itch like crazy. Gas is pretty much gone now but still no BM. I'm keeping with the Miralax routine. I have no trouble eating a yogurt or pudding cup or cup of creamy soup in about 20-3O min. I'm hungry for "real food" and wish I could move on to the purée stage! How's everyone else feeling? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I had my surgery on 12/21 and have been doing very well with recovery. Zero nausea, manageable pain...only thing I'm still struggling with is gas/bloating/constipation which I'm working on with over the counter meds. I'm following my post-op diet faithfully and getting 80g Protein and 64g Water. I'm able to drink about 8oz of water, soup or Protein shake in 15-20 mins. The literature my dr sent home with me - as well as everything I'm reading here in the forums - indicates it should be taking me upwards of 2 hours to consume 8 oz at this stage. Does this indicate something is wrong with my sleeve? Is it too big? I also feel hunger that I believe to be real and not just in my head. Curious if anyone else has had an experience like me, or if this is something I should address with my dr. next week? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Day 4 Post-Op - Is This Normal?

Thanks all - I feel reassured. For gas and constipation, my dr. Recommended taking up to 8 gas-x strips and two doses of Miralax per day. Still no action but I'm hoping for a Christmas miracle. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I feel the same way. I'm only 3 days post opp but I've had zero nausea and my appetite is good. I'm getting 8Og Protein and 64 oz Water without much trouble. My stomach is growley which makes me wonder if my sleeve is too big. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

One week post-op and I'm so hungry

Funny, I'm on day 3 of post op and I keep wondering if something is wrong with my sleeve because I have a healthy appetite, no food aversions and no nausea. I was told it could take me 2 hours to drink an 8 oz shake but I got it down in less than 45 minutes. I'm hitting 8O G Protein without a struggle. Same goes for Water. I sip, sip, sip and have been getting my ounces in. Is my pouch not tight enough, or am I still adjusting? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Day Two and Feeling Good -- Too Good?

Day 3 of recovery here and I'm experiencing a lot more pain around my incisions. My stomach is also distended with gas and hard as a rock. I haven't had a "movement" since Monday so my dr. instructed me to start taking Miralax 2x daily to get things moving. He also switched me from Oxycodone to Duiladed because the Oxy was wearing off too quickly. I'm eating pretty well and am getting liquids down a lot quicker than they say I should be at this stage. I also feel "hungry" but understand I may be confusing my growley tummy with true hunger. Sounds like everyone is experiencing recovery a little differently. Successful surgery

I'm so far having no issues on Day 2 and feel pretty good; very little pain at the incision sites. Still struggling to get all the gas bubbles out of my chest though. I'm walking a lot, sipping Water and took my Prilosec this am with some Jello. Hope you are also feeling better today? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Successful surgery

Glad to hear you're doing well! Similar experience for me today except they are keeping me overnight because of sleep apnea. They are monitoring my oxygen levels closely. The only pain I have is has pain so I'm walking a lot and using GasX strips. I am having no nausea nor trouble with liquids - I've had four bottles of Water (small) and two cups of chicken broth so far. It's surprising to me that I feel hunger. I thought I'd have zero appetite but I hadn't eaten anything in over 24 hours so maybe my body was telling me EAT! I just hope the hunger feelings are temporary. Looking forward to going home in the am. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post op liquids

My NUT says low-fat creamy Soups are fine after first two days. Key is that they must be totally smooth - no lumps or chunks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    December 21st - Today's the Day!

I made it. Now in recovery for the night. They discovered and repaired a hiatal hernia so my "cover" really isn't a lie anymore. Only pain I'm feeling is pressure in my chest. So far, so good! How about my surgery twins? Would love to hear from you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    December 2016 sleevers group members

@@OhHeyMarina - Hi! I'm getting sleeved today and have been checking out the December 2016 Sleevers "forum" but it sounds like there is also a "group" that is invite only? I can't find it or figure out how to join - possible to add me? Thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    December 21st!

I don't check in until 1 pm - surgery at 2:15. I'm going to be starving, but oh well! I am just nervous about complications and the impact on my husband and three little ones. But I know major issues are statistically rare so I just need to take a deep breath and trust all will turn out fine. Would love to keep in touch and hear how everyone's procedure goes. Wishing all 21st sleevers safe, complication free procedures tomorrow with easy recoveries! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Syntrax Nectar

I have sampled all the Isopure flavors and the only one I can stomach is the orange. Key is to drink it really cold or make popscicles out of it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Can I lie - hernia op?

I'm using hernia repair surgery as my cover too. Pretty minimal lie as the surgery itself and recovery diet are consistent. I'm not concerned about keeping my facts straight. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. I'm secret squirrel too. Only my husband and sister know. I'm telling friends and family that I'm having hernia repair surgery and that's why I can only eat liquids during Christmas. I'm off work till Jan. 3 so when I go back I'll tell co-workers I'm doing my annual New Years diet. I'm not even telling my kids (ages 5 & 9) because I don't want them to worry and don't want to make my weight a focus or topic of conversation. They'll just see their mom getting healthy in the New Year. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    3 days away!

I'm Wednesday too. Also nervous and obsessively reading the boards. I could have written your post! I have three kids and scared I'm going to be too tired/sick to enjoy Christmas. Also of course worried about something going wrong with surgery or post-op. I could use some of those sedatives right about now! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    December 21st!

How are all the Dec. 21st peeps doing? I'm "nerve-cited" as my kids would say. I keep cycling through the "what ifs?" and worrying about ruining Christmas for my family if god forbid something should happen during or after surgery. I am trying to focus on the future and how happy I'll be with this decision a month or two down the line. Just a ball of nerves I guess. How is everyone else feeling? 20. I'm five days out from surgery and I seemed to have picked up a low grade flu from my kids. I have a temp of 100, chills, body aches and a debilitating headache. I am laying in my room in the dark completely miserable. My dr said no NSAIDs one week prior to surgery due to blood thinning risk. Is there anything I can take to get through this? Fortunately my kiddos were better in two days so I'm hoping this is short lived. Meantime I'm not eating or sleeping because I feel so uncomfortable. Help. 21. Started my pre-op diet today and went over all the post-op dietary details with my husband who will help care for me. All the sudden it's hit him that I'm really doing this and he's started to panic. He was initially supportive when I started this journey six months ago but is now saying he'd like me to postpone the surgery and give dieting another chance...removing 3/4 of my stomach is extreme and unnatural...I'm going to be miserable during Christmas (surgery is 12/21)...I won't be able to stick with the plan and make myself sick...I'm just going to stretch out my new stomach, etc etc. I keep trying to reassure him that I'm confident in my decision, it's only one Christmas I'll be sacrificing (by not eating Cookies or drinking alcohol), despite my terrible track record with diets this time will be different, I will follow the doctors guidance so I won't get ill, etc. He tells me he is so scared about this he's not sleeping and thinks about what a bad idea this is all day long. He's begging me to reconsider. Anyone else have a family member/friend they had to "sell" on the idea of gastric surgery? Any good stories, videos, resources I should share with him to help out his mind at ease and reassure him that this really is a good decision for long term health? I need him in my corner and will need his support to get through the early months. Right now he's a negative ball of nerves. Advice appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I'm on day four of my pre-op diet, and also day four of horrible, morning-to-night headaches. I'm also incredible irritable and HUNGRY. My doctor doesn't do liquids - he has me on a low cal/low carb diet (less than 1,200 cals and 40 g carbs). He also has me down to one cup of coffee in the am with no caffeine starting on day 8. Is this caffeine withdrawal? Sugar withdrawal? Carb withdrawal? All of the above? I feel lousy and am having a hard time functioning at work and weekend holiday events. Please tell me this will pass. Two Week Countdown - Husband Freaking Out

Thanks all. We've been talking about it a lot and he's feeling better. I think it's fear of the unknown and worrying about how this will affect our lives which right now center around food and alcohol. He is not overweight. He was blessed with a super-charged metabolism and can eat whatever he wants. I on the other hand have gained 100 lbs since we met 16 years ago. I am thankful he's loved me through the gain, and I am hopeful he'll be happy to have the old, thinner me back in the coming months. I know it will be hard but I'm so ready for it. 25. Newbie here, scheduled for sleeve surgery on Dec. 21. I see the dietitian tomorrow and start my two-week pre-op diet on Wednesday. Sounds like the vast majority here are on a liquid diet, but mine is more of an Atkins Phase I diet -- no more than 40 g carbs per day, but not many restrictions otherwise. Anyone else on a non-liquid pre-op diet? Is this normal? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
