I'm still waiting for my surgery. I'm not a young kid, and I've been around the block more than once... The way i look at this site is this, I ask questions, read the answers, store what i feel like i need, and toss the rest in the "trash". I'm so thankful for this support, I'm so thankful for those who are on the same page as me and those who've gone before. Sometimes i laugh, sometimes i just skip over. There's no reason tho take offense. We're all here for the same reasons. 50 year old me!!

    So depressed. Really need help

I would talk with your doctor about changing meds because your weight, hormones and why you are depressed had changed. I haven't head my surgery yet, but as i progressed through menopause my physical needs have changed. When i met with my dr, she agreed that a change in meds would be huge for me! I feel like a new person! I'm taking effexor er. Keeps me more even. 50 year old me!!

    Anyone tracking their journey

This is the Youtube page I'll be documenting my journey on. My journey has already changed due to some unsettling information we found on the surgeon I was going to use in MX. I will be staying stateside, hopefully here in Savannah or in FL, depending on Cost! I've found a surgeon in FL who does VSG for $7800, I've requested info. I won't be updating my youtube much until I get my new date and start my pre-op diet.

  9. Well, my husband and I have decided there will be NO MX surgery... I'm looking at a surgeon in FL that does the VSG for $7800. I've sent him 2 requests with no response. I'm also looking locally. God is in Control! There;s a reason for it all!

If you're not too far from Huntsville, AL my surgeon does it for $9800. Dr Suggs, and he is wonderful.

Keep the faith! You will get there eventually.

  10. Well, after looking deep into the internet and finding really awful things about the surgeon I chose, I'm not going to MX in Feb. I've found some other MX surgeons, but my husband is not having it. So we're looking into some self pay options in the US. I've found a surgeon that is doing VSG for $7800, in FL. I've resuested info. Keep me in prayer. I'm praying for all of you <3

    Surgeries in Tijuana Mexico

I hope you are not going to Dr Almazna...he has had 4 deaths and many pt in ICU. Some have had a great experience and many have not. Its playing a game of chance...just never know, cause he does 8 to 10 a day. Most Dr. do a max of 5. Good luck???? Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App Thanks for giving me the heads up about Almanza! My hubby and i spent hours researching, and it was a lot of reading and looking around, but we find a news story about him! I will NOT be using him! 50 year old me!! I am going to see Dr. Juan Arellano in Mexico on the 4th. His nurse is friends with my mom and now me. She has talked me all through a bunch of stuff. On here they tend to recommend the guys they support or work with, so I had to do a lot of research to find my doctor. I can keep you posted on how it all goes. I plan to record it since I plan to document everything for my own memory as well as for anyone who is curious. I am sorry to hear your surgery fell through but I would rather hear that then have you be one of the stories you looked up. Keep your chin up! *Hugs*

I used Mauricio gutierez at Trinity Medical in Tijuana. Excellent experience. They said that usually they can get someone in as little as 2 weeks. If you want to talk to a coordinator I will pass along their information.

I haven't had my surgery yet either, but have you contacted other doctors/companies like Bariatric Pal Team MX, or Mexico Bariatric Center (I'm using them), or Ponce Bariatrics, or Pompeii Surgical? These are all ones that I considered and and they all have good reputations. If you've already been preparing for surgery (or are close to doing it) they may be able to help you out if they have an open slot available for you. I know it must be disappointing to change your doctor so late in the game, but it's better to go with someone you feel good about. Good luck!

  13. My sis in law had hers done in Mexico, m going to her doc there in feb for mine. She's been fine all along, no issues at all. If i had insurance that would cover it, i would stay here, but since i don't and the U.S. is soooooo expensive for self pay, I'm using her doc! Also the $4800 deductible is only about 800 more than I'll pay. Stay local if you can 50 year old me!!
