    Montefiore metroplus insured

Hi there! I was sleeved at Monte on 1/18/17. Even if it means calling EVERY DAY, multiple times, stay on top of them! My process was elongated an extra 2 months because of their disorganization. I also filed several complaints through their customer service, which does reach the coordinators of the bariatric program. My surgery went amazingly well so no need for worry there, but definitely be persistent on the administrative end. Best of luck!

    Sleeved yesterday

I was sleeved on 1/18. I had a lot of nausea and some of the other symptoms you described as well. For gas, I took Gas X strips which I ordered from Amazon, but try the drugstore. When my stomach would get upset or I'd feel discomfort I'd sip slower. If it become excessive please reach out to your doc Remember, it does take time for the anesthesia and such to work it's way out your system, plus your "new" tummy is readjusting to every thing that's gone on. Wishing you a speedy recovery & the best of luck! -Chrissy
  4. Hi All! I was sleeved on January 18th. I'm looking for some recommendations for a good multi Vitamin, Calcium plus D, and Iron. My current iron and calcium pills make me nauseous and so my doc suggested looking for chewable or liquid forms, even a pre natal, but no brand was mentioned. I need 1500mg of calcium. If I can find a 2 - in - 1 or 3 - in - 1 that'd be great. Thanks in advance! -Chrissy

    Lactose-Intolerance & Food Allergy Issues

Hi there! I have similar issues and used Jay Robb's Egg White Protein powder. I personally favor the chocolate over the vanilla. Try to get the sample packets at Vitamin Shoppe, as it's a little pricey. I mixed with 8oz Lactaid (label suggests 11 but tasted fine to me) during my pre op diet. Best of luck! ***5 DAYS POST OP***

I'm a little over a week post-op. Gas X strips were my life saver! Also stay hydrated, check with your dr if you can have some Milk of Magnesia to get things moving. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    No one understands!

Hi Angela! I'm Chrissy, from NYC and just turned 25 less than a month ago I'm just 6 days post-op VSG I can relate to how you feel. I gained a ton of weight after a bad relationship, depression, and anxiety. Then after gaining that weight, I gained more, all because I was so upset with myself for getting so heavy to start with. Sometimes things felt like a downward spiral, honestly like I hated the world. I was annoyed by friends who could shop anywhere, jealous of these girls on TV and social media with "perfect bodies", angry that other people would channel their energy into other things while I sat and ate. To be straightforward - I hated myself and I was so, so angry. Now I'm nowhere near perfect, but over the 6 months of preparing myself for surgery I've been working on ME in every aspect. It's not easy, some days I have a horrible attitude and go back to self loathing. BUT it's a process, one that you deserve to give yourself time to go through. This is your journey, and it's not meant for anyone to understand. I don't even understand my own! But the point is that you're taking steps to becoming a happier and healthier you, and that's already something to be proud of! Hey, like Kanye says, "just let me be great!" I'm having 2nd thoughts!

You can do it! I was a nervous wreck before surgery, from the pre op diet to going under, I was having a million racing thoughts and second guessing everything. I'm just 6 DAYS post op, so I was in your shoes less than a week ago. One thing that helped me was reminding myself that I made this decision when I was in a good date of mind. Rest assured in the knowledge you've equipped yourself with in making that informed decision. You'll do great! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I DID IT!

I made it! I was sleeved this morning at 9:45! All the anxiety, fear and nerves have finally gone away. I'm in some pain but I've been walking and even got my first ounce down! God I'm so happy and proud of myself, didn't think I'd follow through. Thank you all for your advice, kind words and support. Today is the start of the rest of my life! 15. I'm 25, 5'4ish, and 245lbs - of FEAR! Today is my "Surgery Eve," the day before I finally am sleeved. Throughout this process I've been excited, tired, impatient - just wanted it to come already! Now it's here, and I couldn't be more afraid! I'll start off by saying I do have an anxiety disorder which probably heightens my feelings, but I've coped well without meds for a couple of years. I have a great support system and backed myself with so much knowledge about VSG, I could soon teach a class lol Since yesterday I've grown so, so afraid! What if I'm making a mistake, what if something goes wrong? I've never been under anesthesia so that's probably my biggest fear. Did anyone else feel like this beforehand, or am I just going out of my mind? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Scared & Anxious the Day Before Sleeve

@@JamieLogical you actually made me laugh out loud! Looking at it as magic is actually a great way to look at it haha. 21. I started my pre-op diet (see attached) on Tuesday and I've been been sick throughout (migraine, nausea, vomiting.) I suspect it's something in the Protein shakes I am drinking (Premier). I've tried many powder Proteins, generally more concentrated, and had an aversion, so my nutritionist suggest the Premier shakes to me. I tried it prior to starting the diet without an issue, however now I'm consuming it multiple times a day. Currently waiting for a nutritionist to get back to me. Can anyone suggest some other brands to me, free of whey and high in protein? Maybe vegan or soy based? Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery Date Pushed Up!

@@Keke288 thank you much! I have an anxiety disorder which is making it that much harder for me to relax. Today was my pre op class and like you, I felt alone among the people in my class. 23. I'm so anxious! I was originally scheduled for the sleeve for 1/25/17. Today the coordinator called me and asked if I would like to be moved up a week to next Wednesday, 1/18/17. Of course I took it because I'm excited to begin the journey to a healthier me, but now my anxiety and worries have set in. What did you do to combat it?
