    Weight gain while waiting!

During the liver reduction diet? No. Actually, I was told if I did gain, they wouldn't do the surgery as it's impossible to follow the diet and gain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. It sounds like you made the right choice, even if it's the hard choice. Your baby deserves it and you deserve to be around for him. I'm being sleeved in the morning and for the first time the jitters are starting to come out. I just had a moment thinking why am I doing this, this can't be real, I can't do this. But then I read your post, and I know I can. I have to, for my 1 year old baby. It will be worth it for all of us! The funny thing is, when I'm not fearing the surgery, I don't understand why I was having doubts. But when I let the fear take over, I can't remember why I want to do this and just think of ways to back out. So thank you! For reminding me why I need to do this. January 3rd,4th,5thSleevers!

I'm so excited it's almost time! All day long I keep thinking, "this time tomorrow, I'll be..." It's no longer at this time tomorrow, now it's at this time in 12 hours. 12 hours from now I will be getting ready to leave for the hospital! On the one hand I am very excited, but on the other hand I am really struggling with having to leave my baby for a night and essentially two whole days. Again, I keep telling myself this will be worth it in the long run and she will not even remember any of this. But it's still a struggle for this mama! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Thinking About Gastric Sleeve Surgery

It's funny, I hear all sorts of things about do's and don'ts after surgery that sound so severe, but every one of them, my surgeon has dismissed. He asked if I planned to have more kids, and I said yes, but I know I need to wait 18 months. He shrugged his shoulders and told me you can't always control life, and if I get pregnant before that, everything will be safe and fine (I'm still not planning on it, but it's nice to know). He told me that he had one woman come in for her 6 week checkup pregnant, she found out at the appointment, and she had twins! He said that was ten years ago, the pregnancy was normal, babies delivered healthy, and she's still doing well after ten years with no complications. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Late night

Hey! Where do you buy your Genepro from -- Amazon? Currently on Protein shakes but if I can mix it into my food later that'd be cool too. Can't wait till next week when I can have pudding. Do you think it's the best flavorless protein powder? I was going to order my genepro from Amazon but thought I would check out GNC just in case. GNC does carry it and it was a few dollars cheaper. Carbonated water

I was told right after surgery, no, and that I wouldn't want them, but that I could after I'm healed. I should add though, strangely enough, my post-op diet says I can have decaf soda as long as it is flat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    January 3rd,4th,5thSleevers!

Getting excited and a little nervous, mainly because I'm a single mom and don't want to be away from my baby. But it's for the best. My surgery is scheduled for the 4th at 9:30 am. I've been binge watching My 600 pound life in anticipation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Overheating 12 days post VSG

Sodas are even listed in my liquid diet phase post-op, provided they are caffeine free and flat, as in no carbonation. I had a discussion with my surgeon where I told him I was having a little bit of a hard time thinking of some of my favorite foods and that I would never be able to eat them again, and he told me I can eat anything I want in the future, just less of it. It's all about enjoying the things you like with moderation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    January 2017 Sleevers!

First day of pre-op diet today, and only a few hours into it. It's going okay. So far I've had a Protein Drink, Protein Cereal, and a Jerky stick. Oh, and lots of Water. Everything that I can eat for this diet is bought through the bariatric clinic, so it's all fortified with protein. I know I can do it, but I'm hungry! I keep telling myself to just drink more water then. I had to do a liquid diet before the endoscopy, and I managed that easily. This is a bit more challenging, and I can actually eat but I definitely think it's head hunger. I'm checking myself, and it's not my stomach telling me I'm hungry, it is totally my head. I'm thinking it's because what I am eating is not satisfying. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  13. It's a sanitation and safety procedure. For example, they look at the worst possible case scenario, which would mean your heart stops beating. They don't want to waste time by having to get your bra out of the way, or if they have to use the paddles on you, they don't want some of that power going to the metal in your underwire. Also, if you are wearing undergarments under your robe, there is a chance of cross-contamination since they came from outside of the hospital. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Gained weight on purpose?

With most, according to my doctor's office, it is 35 with at least one comorbidity, 40 without. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Gained weight on purpose?

I considered it, to be honest. At the start of my 6 month program, they said I didn't have any co-morbidities that would qualify me. I was devastated. This has been a life-long battle, and the info about regaining weight being a survival instinct had just come out, leaving me feeling like surgery was my only chance to be healthy and feel good. It was only 15 pounds that I would have to gain -15 pounds was standing between me and surgery. I was totally going to do it because I'm tired of fighting on the losing side-for once I wanted the advantage. Turns out I have sleep apnea, but if I didn't, I would have been in your position. And for those thinking 35 is such a low bmi, it's still obese. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    EDG next week

I am kind of surprised reading some of these. Maybe their's are extreme cases, or maybe mine is the extreme case. Yes I needed a ride home, but that is standard procedure and a precaution as you will be put out. But other than that, I literally felt no different leaving then when I went in. It was just like taking a very peaceful nap. I didn't even have a sore throat afterwards! And I had a biopsy of the stomach at the same time, not just the scope. I also ate as soon as I left the hospital. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Maintenance

I am still pre-op (17 days to go), but my doctor did discuss this with me a little bit. One of the things he said we might try if I get to that point is drinking with meals. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    EDG next week

I too think it was a piece of cake. I fell asleep without realizing, don't remember that part at all, then out of recovery in about 15 minutes. No sore throat for me either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    January 2017 Sleevers

How was it? Mines is scheduled on Monday and I have to go under anesthesia Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Sorry, I just saw this so I'm sure you've already had it done. But in case others wonder as well... It was so simple. I remember going into the room, answering some questions, and then waking up in recovery. I don't remember falling asleep or anything. And I was only in recovery for a few minutes. Maybe 15. My biggest concern when I have surgeries is being put under anesthesia as well. But one of my friends has been a nurse for almost 20 years, and she said the only complications she has ever seen or personally heard of is nausea. This helped ease my concerns a lot! started liquid diet

I'm not to that point yet but did have to do a clear liquid diet for 24 hours last week. I was dreading it but also knew it would give me a tiny idea of what's to come. I ended up doing quite well with it, only getting hungry at one and five. Both times I guzzled down some Water and the hunger was gone. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
