    Vitamin HELP Please...

it is spring value ( yellow label) I agree with taking a pill vs chew the taste is horrible but since you are so fresh from surgery talk to your support team and make sure your pouch can tolerate a pill. I take one BIG one but take it separately from the others and do ok.

    Vitamin HELP Please...

I am 10 years out and still take them as I know I don't eat enough veggies to get what I need from food. I take one from walmart it is cheap and must work as my blood work each year is right where it should be.

    Too fast weightloss?

through out my loss it was fast loss and then a stall. then fast loss again. from the posts I find this a very normal. our bodies need time to adjust. some times this takes weeks as you get further out I think I was so excited that I was expecting it to just be one steady drop. when you stall don't panic just know your body is taking stock and it will lose again. also pay attention to things other than the scale ( we are told to only weigh once per month) as the body naturally gains and loses lbs ie at your menstrual cycle good luck to you

    Not feeling full

when you get to the solid foods it will change. just get in the allotted amount of protein and drink your water and you will be fine.

Share your daily life 1year+ post-op?

I am 10 years out and working on losing a 20 lb regain after my sister died this year ( had not regained for 9 years) so my program is a little strict right now. no sugar ( it is the hardest thing for me to eat without dumping) and very low carbs. Breakfast one egg omelet with left over veggies or one egg with cheese and one veggie Patty I am very active so if traveling or having meeting I will take along hard boiled egg and one string cheese. lunch Protein shake when not doing the bot program I would have chicken salad or tuna salad or veggie Soup for this meal dinner 3 oz meat (usually chicken thigh or fish) one half cup veggies by the time I get in the protein I am full. I love potatoes and allow myself two fingerlings or a very small sweet potato twice per week. snack Protein Shake I don't do Protein Bars because they are super sweet and I thin k candy bars and don't want to get started with that again lol if hungry at other times I will have sugar free popsicles or Jello in between don't drink 30 min before a meal during a meal or 30 min after so the pouch stays full and food is processed without being washed thro before getting the nutrients you need drink only Water or decaf tea and coffee can have crystal light but NO carbonated beverages including diet cokes etc. the am I hungry web site will tell you about mindful eating. no tv or books or computer eating. chew chew chew small bites and put down fork between each bite. it was hard for me to learn to empty my mouth fully and not put in another bite before I was finished with the first one. I loved to shovel food. exercise is walking 10000 steps per day and strength exercises three times per week with weights also try to do some stretches and balance work a couple times per week but I am not as good at remembering these ugh artic;es/ I go to Bariatric Eating.com it is trying to sell you products which I don't buy but have lots of recipes and a closed facebook page that is very helpful ( leaders scold so if sensitive don't go here) also several others on facebook just search bariatric.

    VITAMINS

I take a prenatal vit very cheap at wal mart. has more than Centrum and one a day

    Alcohol

just because you can not have the alcohol does not mean you can not drink. lots of really pretty fruity drinks out there and no one but you will know that's what alcoholics do find something they love without the alcohol

    Lettuce, raw veggies

I am 10 years out and still can not eat raw veggies well. can have them cooked.
  13. Martha Parker-mcneal

    Alcohol

for me it was not worth the risk of messing up my pouch
  14. it has been 10 years but this is very close to my old plan ( I pulled it out) it was about 3-4 months before I could really tolerate very much solid foods. I started with adding one thing at a time as different people tolerated different things. I still can not eat beef except ground and real tough meats stick with chicken thighs as they are more moist and lots of fish. deli ham and turkey and of course yogurt and eggs and cottage cheese ( love all kinds of cheese) I can only eat about 2 or 3 bites of any desert before getting sick. sweets have never agreed with my pouch. no raw veggies or salads either. take it very slow it sucks but you will do so much better and will appreciate it in the long run. good luck

    Carbs per day

I am to get in 40 grams per day. I usually save most of those for potatoes which is my big love. eat very low veggies and rarely have fruit as fruit throws me into a hypoglycemic episode quicker than anything try to spread them out during the day too. good luck those drops are not fun.

    Where do I start?

I love the world according to eggface and bariatric foodie to be great sites. I like the posts on bariatric eating but find the administraters to be very scolding and harsh. we have had enough of that in our lives. if you can ignore them the recipes and eating plans are super

    Addiction

start now to find other ways to self soothe. take part in the support groups post here go to therapy or overeaters anon. it is a lifelong struggle but we manage it one day at a time. the surgery is wonderful and I can not eat but a small portion at a time ( im 10 years out) however I can start to graze if I don't watch it and at times have to struggle with food thoughts and cravings. you CAN do this

    Where do I start?

there are several web sites for bariatric patients many of them have recipes and assistance with food plans. the emotional part is an area I do not feel is addressed nearly as well as it should be for bariatric patients. perhaps some counseling ( many insurances will pay) or overeaters anon if there is a chapter in your area. they are also on line and have phone meetings and pod casts. it is not for everyone but it has sure helped me develop a healthy relationship with food. you sound like you are really trying to address your health issues and I am proud of you. Depression is normal after any surgery it is just something you will have to deal with and is not a fun time. you have us so continue to reach out and vent when you need to. best of luck to you

    Crying in the shower

I remember going thro a grieving period too. it was like a death. I was losing my best friend ( the food) it was what I used to stuff all the feelings that were too painful to face for me. I tried to fill the empty spot but of course the food only lasted a short time and then I had to have more and more the therapy idea is great. you need someone to talk about all this with. remember you have us and we understand cause we have all been there. when my therapy sessions ended I started going to overeaters anon. I still go and it helps me. you are in my thoughts.

    Too few calories

it will take time to get it all in. drink Protein drinks and protein Water and that will help with your energy. even if tired walk as much as possible that also helps even tho it sounds counter productive good luck to you
  21. Martha Parker-mcneal

    Struggling !

where do you buy the beanos sounds good to have in car as I travel a lot and that would be something portable. right now I have the foil tuna packs and Protein drinks when going on trips I take Protein Bars and cheese in a cooler

    Skin Feels Weird

I agree with the upping the Water and Protein. I have dry skin and when I finish my shower ( pat dry but not really dry) I apply a very healing lotion or even baby oil and then pat off again. really helps just be sure your scars are healed and the dr or nurse approves.
  23. I had very little pain with my bypass and went back to work in 7 days ( a desk job) the worst was the gas and gas x really helped with that. however I was super tired. perhaps if you can have a stool or chair etc or at least not have to climb up on risers etc it might be better. best of luck and I know you will do fine.

    Burping a ton after surgery

if it is just after eating you may be swallowing too much air while eating.
  25. exercise is soooo important for your success. I know it is hard but try to fit in small 10 min sessions about 4 or 5 times per day. you can walk during your work breaks or at lunch take some bands along on your weekends. if you have a long trip stop at rest stops and walk walk walk. do jumping jacks or lunges etc. whether it is strength or cardio there are tons of short simple exercises that you can fit in. good luck to you.
