Gone for Good Club - April 2006
The Gone for Good Club's Spring Challenge How it works: On April 26th, after the final weigh in for April, I will start a May GFG Club thread. Those of you who wish to participate in the challenge should post on that thread and title your post - GFG Spring Challenge. All of your updates will be kept by you on this post only! This way we don't end up with a 100+ page thread. Simply go back to your Challenge post and Edit it to update. Everyone will be on their honor to keep a record of their daily points. Any GFG Club Member can join at any time during the challenge. The dates of the challenge are April 26 thru May 31. The member with the most points will win. How to earn points: 1. For each day that you drink a minimum of 64oz of water, you earn 1 point. 2. For each day that you exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes (doesn't have to be all at one time), you will earn 2 points. 3. For each day that you do not eat foods that contain flour or sugar, you will earn 3 points. (sugar substitues allowed) 4. For each pound you lose during the challenge, you will earn 1 point. April 26th thru May 31st is 36 days, so there is a possibility of earning 216 points. However, for those of you who achieve a perfect record in any of the first three categories by earning points every day, you will receive a 5 point bonus for each perfect category at the end of the challenge, making it possible to earn 231 points if all categories earn a bonus. Of course the weight loss will vary so we won't know until the final day (May 31st) who has won! The reward: The winner of the challenge will be awarded the Gone for Good Club's Medal of Honor which can be added to their signature line. (This is a slightly bigger version.) However, all who participate will receive the reward of better health and a lower number on that scale, so I want to see all of you participating! Good luck to everyone and may you all lose!

Edit button is back!
Thanks for responding to the cry for Edit. Will we have the ability to delete our own posts or is this a final thing? I appreciate the thought you all have put into this and respect your decision. I'm just trying to be clear on the final ruling.

How often do you PB?
Please don't take this as anything but sincere concern. All of you who are PB'ing on a regular basis - this is going to lead to eventual damage that could cost you your band. Please do what you need to do in order to stop this. Slow down, stop eating things which you know cause problems, get a slight unfill - whatever you need to do. Jachut and I are good examples of people who aren't filled so tight and yet we are still losing weight at a good rate. Please do not think that the weightloss is worth the risk of remaining overfilled or eating troublesome foods. It isn't. You may be happy with the rapid weightloss but if that band has to come out because of problems developed from so many PBs, that weight loss wont be a reality anymore. And, many of you get so tight that you have to resort to liquid calories and typically end up stalling your loss or even gaining because of the sugars contained in liquid calories and the lack of portion control. I hope I haven't offended anyone. I hope that what I've said has made some of you think about this. I want to see all of us succeed, and when I hear so many talking about this as if it's just part of daily life it worries me.

Messed up Body Image!
"Random guys flirting with you has to be the ultimate pick me up!!" Umm.. not for me! It scares the buhjeebies outta this girl. When I read Diane's post about this, I groaned and quickly closed it. I fear these days! I don't want that! Don't look at me, don't smile at me, don't you dare flirt with me! *bites nails nervously* I think I could use some counseling. Thank god I have my 6'4 hubby by my side now! Actually, that doesn't make me any less nervous. Yuppers. Issues abound! *chuckles*

Audra, I should have done that but I was after that fried chicken! LOL! The thing is, I ended up peeling most of that off of the chicken anyway. It just doesn't hold the same appeal for me that it used to. My friend got the Carribean Chicken Salad - grilled chicken and it was half the calories! So yup, grilled would have been better. Good think I could only eat about 1/8th of that huh?

port has moved and am in pain
Can you contact your surgeon? He/she may want to see you right away since you are in such pain. Even though the office is closed, there is usually an answering service that will contact the Dr and have him/her call you. I would suggest doing that now. Keep us posted ok? But not until you've taken care of yourself. *hugs*

Who is looking back at you?
K@t, I love ya girl! You rock! *big huge smiles*

Slippage..convert to Bypass???

No Edit Buttons?
I've only checked this thread a couple of times since the first night it was started and on that night we were mostly just being silly and goofing around. I don't think anyone needs to get nervous about the mood of the thread or the intentions of the people posting in it. It wasn't a serious suggestion to revolt and those of us who really wanted to keep the ability to edit and delete the way it has been were just expressing our thoughts on the topic. It may not be a big deal to some of you, it might be a big deal to others. I haven't seen anyone here attacking anyone or implying that this is all someone's fault. The few of us who were discussing it in the beginning weren't interested in blaming anyone for anything. Heck, if we wanted to do that we would hav been aiming our blame at Alexandra and the rest of the mods. It was only a discussion about the change and we were talking about how we viewed it from our perspectives. So everyone please calm down. This was not, nor will it become, a board war. I think too many of you have misread the tone of the original posts. Now, on to the topic at hand. I think that Alex and the Mods were being very clever when they took out the Edit option. It's the old, "Let's take more away and then they won't think the original bit we took is so bad after all" ploy. Now we all just want the Edit button back, so screw the delete thing! LOL! (I'm joking y'all, so don't get up in arms about that!) I have seen both sides of this and while I still think it's unnecessary to remove the ability to delete the entire thread I concede that the owner and Admin feel its the best thing for LBT and they should get our support and respect for doing whatever they decide. However, I don't think any of us need to apologize for speaking out about our opinions on the topic. I'm sure that the mods are very capable of listening to everyone's opinion without taking it as a personal attack or anything. So no one did anything wrong by joining the conversation about something which will affect all of us as LBT members. I also think the mods are going to find that this will produce more frustrating work for them as people begin to request the deletion of posts or threads. I could be wrong, but after Admin'ing a few places myself, I have seen how more control over the masses usually winds up meaning more "babysitting" for the Admin/Moderators. If you all are fine with that, then it's all good. Now, y'all get back to focusing on your journeys and stop worrying about LBT. It's full of great people who all have different opinions and somehow we all seem to manage to keep on going. Those who leave will come back (if they haven't already). And those who really cared about you, will keep in contact. It's just the way of the net folks. Nothing new at all. Love you guys!

Ready and waiting
Hi Scout, welcome to LBT! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy approval process. And you're certainly not alone in your mixed feelings of excitement and nervousness. I thought that the changes in my eating lifestyle was going to be so dramatic in my life but I've found quite the opposite. I still eat well. I still go out to eat with friends and family. But I'm not stuffing myself, or feeling embarassed and uncomfortable in restaraunts, and I'm not wearing those size 26 jeans anymore. I'm in 18s! Trust me. You'll be so busy being happy about the positive changes in your life, that you won't be thinking about what you gave up. Best of luck to you!

Dang it! Dang it! Dang it!
Hey Yoda! Welcome to Bandland! I'd send your hubby out for those Isopure Zero Carb Protein drinks if I were you. They will help. Once you are on full liquids, blend some bean with bacon Soup in the blender with 1/2 can of Water (before heating). Turn it into pure liquid and then add the remaining 1/2 can of water and heat. I've passed this on to a lot of folks and have heard that it really helps. I know it helped me. The pain in your neck could very well be "gas pains". The diaphram stretches from the gas during surgery and the pain from that can radiate up to the shoulder and neck. Try using a heating pad on that area. I hear it helps a lot. Walk when you can, and sip sip sip. Keep yourself hydrated. So glad to hear everything went well. And now.. begins the real fun.

How to Attach a Picture to a Post
Delete the http:// in the window. Then, with your cursor in the now blank space, type Ctrl and V at the same time (paste shortcut). Does that work? Tricia ~~ *laughs*

How to Attach a Picture to a Post
Kathy, in the Edit window select the insert image icon (yellow picture with the mountain and sun) An Explorer User Prompt window will open for you to paste in the photobucket addy of the picture you want. You will see that there is already an http:// in that box and that it is highlighted. Be sure you paste your addy over that and not just add to it. The link won't work if it has http:// twice. To add another, just repeat this process. Just be mindful of where your cursor is before inserting another image.

Does it really work?

Diet Dr. Pepper and spaghetti
This is exactly what I do too! I will not try breads or pastas. Preband, I have used spaghetti squash in place of spaghetti noodles. I bake the two halves in the oven and then scrape the meat of the baked squash out with a fork. It comes out like spaghetti. It's really not bad. Just be careful to check the calories on the spaghetti sauce. There are a lot of sugars in those sauces and it would be easy to eat a lot of it.

You're welcome, Carol. Paula - I know!! I went to Chili's with a friend yesterday and after a long and painful process of decision making I decided to have my old favorite, the Crispy chicken salad. It arrived. It was HUGE! And I ended up picking off the crunchy outside of the fried chicken strips, which is what I used to love about the dish. I ate a very tiny bit of it and took the rest with me in a box. I was out all day taking pictures so it all went bad. And boy am I glad! I looked it up and that innocent looking salad has 850 calories!!! OMG! I docked myself 500 calories for what I ate, just to teach myself a lesson! *laughs*
