  1. I agree with Donna. Get more opinions. It seems awfully extreme to me to refuse to fix a slipped band (if there is no medical reason it cant be fixed) and elect to put you through an even more extreme surgery that has a very high death rate. As others have said, this will have to be your choice. But don't let one biased Dr make your decision for you. It's your body and your life. Get all of the facts and NEVER let them bully you into something you don't feel right about. Especially something that has the potential to cause you problems for the rest of your life. Band problems are fixable.
  2. *chuckles* Geeze girl, you are SO not alone! This entire trip (all of four months - ok, Im laughing at myself now) has been filled with head craziness for me. One day Im up and excited, the next Im down for no real reason at all. I'm both excited and scared about what the future holds. I believe and disbelieve that I will actually weight 130 pounds - probably more disbelieve than believe. My biggest fear was failure with the band. But here we are... you, me, and all of these other people who are thinking the same thing. I don't know what will actually happen to all of us but I know this. If we follow the rules, we won't fail. So I focus myself on today. I do what I know I have to do today and then I dont have anything to regret about yesterday. Tomorrow will take care of itself. As for the RNY. You will lose slower with the band and because of that you will have more time to get your head around the huge change in your life and in your body. And you will be healthier because of that slower weightloss. You are just beginning and from what you're saying, youre doing a great job. So stop worrying and fretting. It's a long road but its full of rewards all along the way and you are going to do splendidly!
  3. Hm.. I am not one to set mini goals. Of course I'm looking forward to Onderland and that will be a biggie for me, but overall I am the type that has my eye on the end goal. And until I reach it, my head is down and I'm not looking around at things along the way as I charge on madly. For me, and I know this isn't the same for everyone, it is too easy to get complacent when I reach mini goals. I don't want to slow down. I don't want to take breaks. I want this thing done, in full, once and for all. So out of my way! *laughs* My reward for reaching my big goal is going to be how I look and feel. The last thing I want to do is reward myself with food. That is a mentality that got me where I am today. Thinking that food is a reward, or a comfort, or something I deserve is dangerous for me. I've become a victim of commercials that tell me I deserve that chocolate candy, or that if I really loved my family I'd be baking cakes and Cookies for them, or that I really do deserve a break today so I should get my lard ass to McDonald's. *laughs* Actually, it's not funny. I believed them. Many of us have believed them. So much so, that we get in serious arguments with each other over our right to have that stuff and how unrealistic it is to deny ourselves such stuff. Ok, Umm.. I've really gotten off the path here. Sorry. *blush* Um, yeah. Life in a size 11 or 12 is going to be my reward.
  4. 1. Use the Edit or Post Reply buttons (not Quick Reply) to open an Edit window that has an attachment option. 2. Click on the Attachments icon (the paperclip) located above the box where you enter text, just to the right of the white smiley face icon. That will open a "Manage Attachments" window. 3. Click on the Browse button in the new window, and then browse to the picture on your computer. Once the correct picture is highlighted, click on the Open button. The browse window will close. 4. Still in the "Manage Attachments" window, click on the Upload button (next to the Browse button). To upload more than one picture, repeat this process. Once you have uploaded all of your pictures, close the "Manage Attachments" window. You will now be back in your edit window. 5. Click on the paperclip icon again and you will see your pic listed there. Select it and it will be placed in your post at the location of your cursor. You will notice that the picture will not show yet, but rather you will see something like this: [ ATTACH] 4260[/ATTACH ] with the numbers highlighted. You will need to move your cursor to the left or right of the [ ATTACH] codes before repeating the process to attach another picture. Otherwise, it will just replace the first one. Pictures can also be moved around once they are in a post. Move the mouse pointer over the image and a four-way arrow will appear. Holding down the left mouse button will "grab" the image and allow you to move it to another location in your post. Clicking on the paperclip icon and selecting "Manage Attachments" will reopen the "Manage Attachments" window and allow you to delete or add more pictures for the current post.

  6. Sounds to me like your inner child is throwing a tantrum. *grins* Just tell it "No" and teach it to become more trusting and patient. You are the adult and you know what's best for you and that screaming child inside. We all know what happens when we give in and let the child win by using such behavior against us, dont we? They become spoiled and uncontrollable. It's time for tough love. It's time for you to take charge and stop letting the fears and wants of your inner child control you. There are plenty of liquids you can have that will fill you up. And, like Alex said, you don't need to worry about dieting right now so drink as often as you need to. Getting the lapband was a very adult decision you made. And I have a feeling that you made that decision in order to regain some control. That change won't be easy for that inner child, I'm sure that fear and rebellion rose up in most of us at some point on our weight loss journeys. But it will benefit you in the long run, so stand firm and carry on with what you started - Reclaiming your life!
  7. Some fat girl with a ruddy complextion and far too many wrinkles! Who the hell is that and why does she keep following me around??
  8. As I was adding new members to the list, I realized the phenominal amount of weight that Kimmcneely and Anillacookie have lost prior to joining the Club. I'd like to congratulate you both on your successes. Kim, you are only a few pounds away from your goal weight! Have you posted any of your before and after pictures yet? I'd love to see them!
  9. Updates to the Honors list are on the main page now (page 1 of this thread) so I'm deleting this post to save room.

  11. I'm not sure if someone here told me about this site, or if I found it on my own. Anyway, it was worth sharing. I've got it on my Favorites list now, along with www.nutritiondata.com.
  12. Ceperano and Eva - see what getting banded does to you?? *insane laughter* Donna, we'd better not scare them too much. *grins*
  13. Sweet! Can't wait to hear from all the Texas gals now. Hey Funny, could you go too?
  14. One inch at a time. *laughs* Grats on your wonderful success, Sunsett!! I'm thrilled for you! I can feel your excitement through the screen! :clap2:
  15. This is precisely what people want to achieve when they do this. And the right to do so is the issue. I doubt any mod would want that hassle. And then you'd have folks up in arms about the mods editing their posts. Me included.
  16. I was thinking that too, Janet. I think a lot of people fear getting into a board war or something so they are just being quiet. I'm not out to fight over it at all. I've just seen this thread as an adult discussion with Alexandra, whom I really really really respect as a moderator, and she knows it. :Banane56: I would hope that more folks would pitch in with their thoughts. A poll might be a great idea, unless the mods and Alex are viewing this as strictly their decision, which is fine. But if that's the case, please just say so and we will accept it. Otherwise, let the discussions continue!
  17. Will you have the Slumber Party as an opener for the weekend so that those who want to attend that can, and those who don't can arrive a bit later? Honestly, I'm all up for a get together for a girl's weekend, but I'm not interested in the Slumber Party aspect of it. No offense, no judgements, its just not my thang. And I don't care where we are as long as we have airconditioning and maybe a pool??
  18. I'm rarely in a pissy mood. *laughs* That's why I found it so shocking when some people took my posts in that tone (in the past). I'm more like a happy puppy with floppy ears, always ready to have a good time - then feed me and let me sleep. :Banane56: I guess I could agree with not allowing an entire thread to be delted, but as we have discussed before - what's the point in that when your entire post has been Quoted elsewhere in the thread? If you are going to take away the option to completely remove a thread that someone has started and then later regrets it, I think you'll have to do away with the quote option as well. And then people can still copy and paste. So that still isn't achieving anything. I think people should have the right to remove a thread that has become a source of upset and pain to them, for whatever reason. If that leaves us open to people who also delete threads because they are angry, or are just in a pissy mood, then so be it. I see no reason to treat everyone like a child just because one or two have behaved like one. (Not that I think anyone did, but that seems to be the basis for these changes.) I do realize that you are trying to do what you think is best for LBT, Alexandra. And I can see where you are coming from in your thinking on this. However, I really disagree with the proposed changes.
  19. Yeah, Kat, I see your point on that. I don't know. I just hate losing freedom to make my own choices because of one or two people who do something that we don't like. As Alex said, this hasn't been a problem before and perhaps just talking about it and making everyone realize that they take away a lot more than their own posts when they delete a thread is enough. I never misused the delte option nor have 99% of the people here. But becuase of one or two who have, we all must be put on some sort of restriction. That just doesn't seem right to me.
  20. I know a lot of Texas LBT sisters I would love to meet in person! I'd definitely be up for something like that. Wow, I'm glad I've been tanning! :Banane56:
  21. Welcome to Bandland, MelAnne! Isn't the initial loss exciting?! As Tina said, it will slow down. The first time I only saw 1 pound lost in a week, I cried! *laughs* Youre doing wonderfully. Already up and out on errands, that's great. Just be careful not to over do, keep yourself hydrated, and get as much of your 60 grams of protein in per day as you can. I relied on Bean with Bacon soup blended until creamy to keep me from getting hungry. I also sipped a lot of chicken broth and vegetable broth. After so many cold protein shakes and water, I was dying for something warm and those things did the trick.
  22. Dody *snickers - lots*
  23. Apparently the moderators and owner of LBT are in discussions about taking away our Edit and Delete functions. For now, you can only Edit your posts for 24 hours after it is posted. After that, no more Editing. So that means I cannot make this week's updates on the original pages. So, I have decide to just repost the pages below. If and when we get the Edit function back, I will move these to the original pages and ask the moderators to delete these two posts, as they will be redundant. There are a couple of threads discussing this matter. Please feel free to hop onto them and add your two cents. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=17417 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=17552
  24. Feel The Raw Naked Photonut Of The Road. All You Need is a Susan and a Dream. Yeah baby! I cheated and did it once more and got: There's More Than One Way To Eat A Susan. ROFL!!
  25. After thought - Why can't we just give everyone the room to be responsible adults and accept the fact that there will be some who aren't very good at that? This policing of our individuality is annoying. If there are folks who tend to wipe out threads, then don't post important things on their threads. Or go start one of you own that wont be deleted by anyone else. This seems like overreaction to a once in a while problem if you ask me. Do the moderators really need to be babysitters here? For crying out loud. No offense, Alexandra. I just don't see why the actions of one justify the punishment of all.
