How Do You Meet Your Fluid Goals?

I drink a 20oz bottle of Water during my commute into work and around 9 am I drink 20oz of decaf hot tea. This guarantees I'm 2/3 to goal before noon.
  2. I am 42. Best decision I have ever made in my life regarding my health. In less than three months it has changed my life in more ways than I can effectively communicate. Whether or not to have the surgery is a completely personal decision, I spent years denigrating the potential benefits by saying things like "I would never feel normal" after the procedure. I was right. I do not feel normal. I feel above average. Good luck in your research.
  3. I decided in April 2016, went to a seminar, then had to complete at 6 month physician supervised weight loss program. I was approved within a week of completing it and had the procedure on 10/26/2016. No problems with approval as it is covered under my insurance, I completed the 6 months. Started with a BMI of 53 and had co-morbidities (diabetes and sleep apnea). Good Luck!

    Water causing stomach pain

I sometimes have an issue with it. Starting in my esophagus and then a mild cramping. I usually then belch for a bit afterward. I assumed it was gas pressure build up.

    Pizza that is the ?

I'm a little over two months out. I've had very thin crust pizza (St. Louis Style!!!) I wanted it, I had it, I did not enjoy it. I felt fine after...no ill effects, but it didn't satisfy me in anyway. No reason for me to consider it going forward.

    Visit to the barber

I just got my hair cut and colored last night and my neck fit in the bowl slot, I didn't feel like a mound of flesh popping out of the front of the chair, and when she was done...for the first time in forever, I was excited about my new look and didn't give myself the "that'll do" eyes. She, of course, commented on my loss because she didn't recognize me so that was a bonus.

    NSV so excited!

I am so excited for you. I am going to Hawaii in February and I also plan to parasail. My husband does it on almost every vacation and I always acted like I didn't want to do it because I didn't want anyone to know I was over the weight limit! Have the best time!!!
  8. My experience with insurance wasn't that bad, Yes, there were hassles, but in the end. I probably spent less than 2000 of my own actual dollars, so I'm not sure how that compares.

    Losing before surgery.

Congratulations on your loss. I knew going in that I was going to have to do 6 months pre-surgery, so I decided before my consultation that I was going to live my life pre-surgery as close as possible to what it would be like post-surgery. Best decision ever. You're doing a great job! Keep it up!!!

    Keto diet?

I did modified keto diet for the 6 months prior to surgery. I had a lot of success with it. It helped me to lose 30lbs prior to surgery.

    Over 200 pounds down!

You look amazing, but more importantly...you look happy!
  12. I am not counting calories. I just eat when I am hungry. A tiny amount about 6 times per day. Only carb I have is in my Protein balls I make. I need to up my Water and protein drinks for sure , but I am so sick of em! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App My sleeve can handle about 1/2 a cup of food at a time. I eat 6 times a day. I am no longer on shakes at all. I don't completely avoid carbs, but I don't have them all the time either. I will eat like Sloppy joes made with Ground Turkey on King's Hawaiian rolls or a boiled egg on a piece of toast. I do try to get about 45-60g of carbs a day just for calories and it seems to have helped to break the stalls.
  13. Its the exact same thing that veteran moms do to first time prego's. If you really want to be a support, give the positives and the encouragement...not the worst case scenario. Women especially (not all) LOVE to level someone. One up them to the point of no return. That does not sound like a support group it sounds like a gripe fest.
  14. Wow 58lbs is a lot. Good job. What was ur SW? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App Starting weight was 290 Surgery Weight 260 Current Weight 232 I'm 5'2". I have that 2-3lb fluctuation about every other week for a couple of days. I am bad in that I do weigh myself everyday. I'm not obsessed with it, but I do it to have a better understanding of how my weight changes over the course of a week. It makes my hubby so mad...lol, but I would rather know everyday than to step on the scale out of the blue on a high end day. How many calories you getting in per day? I don't really count them, but my nutritionist said that at this point I should be getting in 850-1000.
  15. Sleeved 10/26. Down 58lbs. I experience similar stalls. I had a lengthy one and nutritionist told me I wasn't getting enough calories. We adjusted and now I lose 2-4lbs a week.
  16. I had sleeve surgery 10/26/2016. I had minimal gas pain in my left arm only. Completely bearable. I also had a hernia repair at the same time and had very little pain. Walking as much as possible after surgery helps a lot. I would say I had about the best experience you could have with surgery. I followed plan and did what they told me to do. I have only experienced heartburn twice and I have NEVER thrown up. Don't let them get in your head. Will your experience be the same? No telling, but don't let it stress you. You'll be fine.

12/20 - No appetite or energy.

Lots of things can be ok, this is a huge change for your body. Check with your surgeon, as you advised, but I know that when I'm not getting enough calories that is when I tend to go through stalls. Good Luck on your journey!
  18. I don't calories, per se. I do keep a general idea of where they are to make sure that I am getting enough. I also pay attention to the calories on new foods just to be able to keep a general idea of my intake. I log via the fitbit app. My nutritionist goal is between 850-1000. Some days the total is closer to 1200. I'm not going to trip off it. I get my Protein, my fluids, and plenty of exercise.

    IM SO PISSED!

I know that this can all be very scary and unnerving. Try to keep in mind that insurance/doctor approval or denial is not a one time shot. (Not that it's going to be denied) Paperwork can always be resubmitted, God forbid it need to be.
  20. It's official...I have lost 58lbs andthat is exactly what my youngest daughter weighs. I've lost an Erica!

    Recently sleeved

Search threads about three week stall. Typically happens about 2-3 weeks in. Nothing you can do, but hang in until it breaks. Have patience and follow the plan, its frustrating, but it will break.
  22. Best decision I have ever made regarding my health. I wish I had made it earlier in life. At 42, I regret the life not lived to the fullest, but look forward to the amazing days ahead.
  23. You're a very pretty YOUNG lady and at only 28 I'm pretty sure at your age you might be able to get your weight down by eating sensibly and walking, I am 55 and I have been trying for 10 years to get my weight off. I wish I was 28 again there are so many other ways besides weight loss surgery for you. I don't know your health matters or how long you've been trying to lose but if I was 28 I would try exercise over surgery any day. Good luck with whatever road you take, my daughter loves dance and she dropped at least 80 lbs doing Zumba and she was right about the age you are now when she got serious. Good luck. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App Wish I had done this at 28. I would've enjoyed my life so much more up to this point.
  24. Yes, I was sleeved on 10/26/2016. I am almost 60lbs down and it is already just part of my life. I only had a required 4 day liquid diet, but I did it for 9. I wanted to lose as much as possible pre surgery. I rocked the pre surgery liquids and the first week post surgery, the two week full liquid phase was by far the biggest struggle and from there it just got easier. The full liquid phase and the dreaded 3 week stall (you'll hear a lot about this here and not a lot of prep from doc or nutritionist) where mentally the hardest things I've have had to deal with through this process. My insurance was United Healthcare and I had the approval in about a week. Which procedure are you having? I'm Greg, from Fairview Hgts. Patient of Dr. Ricks. Awaiting approval for surgery. Would be interested in attending or meeting others who have made a decision to save themselve and take on this new lifestyle journey. Have been a paramedic for 26 years, have always put everyone else first, except for myself. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App Hi Greg - Dr. Ricks is great.
