  1. I'm having my gastric bypass surgery on December 12th so it's 10 days away! And I'm so nervous and scared I would like to talk to someone who had the laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery so they can help me to understand what it's like after and did you all get a pre op diet to take home with you ? I did my surgeon put me on this diet of all these boxes of stuff I had over 20 bags to take to my car yesterday they gave me all the pre op food and they gave me the pro op food too which is supposed to be for after the surgery too! He gave me 9 weeks of food for after surgery too! But the Soups are making me really sick I tried it yesterday for lunch and dinner and it is the nastiest Soup I have ever tried and i have gerd and gerd does not like this soup lol! Cuz I keep throwing it up it's like I was trying to force myself to eat it but it's making me sicker then I tried it again this morning and I kept throwing it up too! So what should I do? Because I called my surgeons office and the nurse there and the front desk lady they told me once we give you the food we can't take it back. And I told them the soup makes me sick so what do I do as a replacement and she said you can't replace it you have to just continue to eat it and I told her every time I try it makes me ill! And they don't even know what to say because the surgeon gave me all the food and stuff so I guess no one else there knows if I can substitute it or not ! And my surgeon is famous he's all over the Dr's show on tv and he's been on dr oz show also and he did heart's surgery she was like back in the 80s singer and he did the lady on tv on those commercials about trying to buy the food and you will loose all that weight but what no one knew is that she had the gastric bypass surgery. My doctor has all over his walls of all the celebrities surgeries he's done ! But I know my surgeon is the best but he's in surgery a lot of the time ! So I don't know what to do ? And what do they do when you go to check in at the hospital for your surgery ? Do they put you on monitors and give you a blood transfusion? Because my surgeon said yeah that everyone has to he told me lol so can some people give me some help with all of this please? Thank you all! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. I'm in California and my bariatrics surgeon is Brian Quebbemann and since he's a famous doctor he's been on doctor oz show and the dr's show also so he provides your food for you for 2 weeks before surgery and your food for 4 weeks after surgery! Your allowed to eat mushy foods that he gives you before surgery like oatmeal for Breakfast and you get unlimited shakes he gives you and your allowed Jello sugar free 0 calories and all that! My surgeon his company is called the New bariatrics program in Newport Beach California and they give all the food before and after and all the Vitamins come with it also! And since I have Medicare they cover the full surgery and all the food before and after surgery and also all the bariatrics vitamins for ever you never stop getting the vitamins from them also! And I also get a 24 hour nurse around the clock to help me at the hospital and then she comes home with me and stays with me for 6 weeks after the surgery too !! If anyone has Medicare you should check into that and see if you guys can get that too !! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. Hey I haven't got my surgery yet my surgery for gastric bypass is on December 12th,2016 of this year I go in at 930 am. But I can tell you this I have gone to classes and I have been seeing weight loss specialists straight for over 10 years non stop and I tried all kinds of medicines nothing ever worked. So then my mom is a emergency room doctor and she suggested I go and get the gastric bypass laparoscopic one. So I had to get a ekg and a stress test and I had to get cleared from a heart doctor then a my oncologist and Hemotology Doctor they all cleared me then they had my primary sign me off for this surgery also the nephrologist also had to clear me too! So I had all those doctors clear me then the weight loss diaticians had to clear me also so I got cleared by all of them and I have a really good surgeon who's all over the Tv he works hand and hand with dr oz who is on tv and the dr's show also he did a lot of celebrities surgerys like marie ozman he did her surgery and her hubbys surgery and he also did the singer named heart he did her surgery and did whoopi Goldbergs surgery and over hundreds of thousands more celebrities surgeries but he told me that I am in for a long ride for this surgery. I know what to expect cuz my mom is a doctor also my mom is on call 24/7 so thank god I have Medicare even though I am so young that they are covering the whole surgery and then they also are giving me my own nurse who is coming home with me she will stay with me around the clock for 24 hours a day to help make my shakes for 6 weeks since I cannot have any real food and she willl give me a IV pain medicine every 3 hours for the pain and then she is gonna do IV antibiotics too and she is gonna give me the IV for all my Vitamins I need so I'm pretty lucky and she has to get me up everyday to walk me for like 30 minutes a day for 6 weeks too! She helps me around the clock even in the middle of the night when I'm in severe pain also! After the surgery! But a lot of people don't have that luxury and that's why they are going thru a lot of other issues!! But I don't know if your insurance covers a stay at home nurse with you after the surgery but call your insurance and see if they can help you and provide you a nurse! Because Medicare says that the gastric bypass is a massive surgery so they automatically pay for your own personal nurse around the clock for 6 weeks! Check and see if you can get that like me it might be easier for you . You gotta make sure you take the Bariatrics vitamins not the normal vitamins cuz the normal vitamins won't work it has to be the bariatrics vitamins and you have to take them like every 3 hours and if you don't you can loose your mind mentally you can go insane without the right amount of the vitamins in your body!
