Are you good at understanding insurance?
I completely agree with Diana_in_philly. I work for an insurer and it is all in how paperwork is worded! HW 305, SW 265, RNY 8.17.17

Pre op liquid diet
That happened to me. I just stopped and used the sugar free ones. I still lost 17 lbs during pre op and was able to have the surgery. HW 305, SW 265, RNY 8.17.17

Regret but not regret
Yes, I did struggle too. I'm 9 days post op now, and I can say it's become MUCH better. I kept reading on here that it gets better, so I decided to believe it and it's true. It may take you all day to get in enough water. I realized I was trying to drink to 3 much at once. I was also told to crush my meds. I hope things get better for you soon! Surgery done, fighting on
Yeah, I had the 2 week liver shrinking that included 2 protein bars/day but that was the only thing I could chew. I was on clear liquid for the first two days post op and today, day 3, I am allowed the full liquid diet. This includes cream of wheat. I'm on this full liquid diet until day 14. I said spoons though because it wasn't thick enough to bite. Psychologically, it helped to imagine I was having actual food. Yeah, I know what you mean though, I was incredibly jealous of people who just eat low carb pre op. RNY scheduled for 8/17/17

Surgery done, fighting on
So I got the bypass done on 8/17. I was freaking out before hand. Then, of course, it went just fine. I did have a pretty bad hiatal hernia that was repaired too. I felt restriction for the first time today when I got cream of wheat and was done after 11 spoons. Luckily I've had no nausea or vomiting. I'm taking in all of you guys' lessons on pacing and walking and sipping. Now I'm just waiting to go home and sleep! [emoji4]

Not telling Mom/some others....opinions
Im not telling my mom either. My mom would say the EXACT same thing as yours, however she is the nurse. I don't need the negativity! My husband, two sisters, and a friend know. That's enough support for me. RNY scheduled for 8/17/17

Surgery canceled ☹
Update: I was started on Victoza and, three months to the day, my a1c was down from 11.4 to 7.4! It's really nice to have normal daily readings again too. Best of all, surgery has been rescheduled to 8/17!! I'm so excited to see this journey through. Began 10/16, Approved 03/17, Canceled 04/17 bc of high BSG, now bypass pending 07/17

Has Anyone Kept Their Surgery A Secret?
I've told my husband, no one at work, two sisters, my mom, and two close friends. Everyone else would be negative and I don't need that. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Surgery canceled ☹
I'm so bummed, and just need to vent. My bypass surgery was scheduled fit 5/11 so I went to my class and pre-op labs on Monday. I learned yesterday that my a1c was too high for surgery. I was really surprised it had gone so high. After I ugly cried, I made an appointment with my doctor to talk about a new medication. Has anyone else been through this?
