    Protein bars

Atkins protein bars NOT THE Atkins CANDY are low carb. I don't like them much but they are good if you want to chew something. I cut them into cubes and freeze them and grew them frozen.

    This is a trip!

The scale is not your friend. Stop weighing your self or weight once a week. If you're on plan you are losing FAT the day to day fluctuations aren't worth getting upset over.
  4. Also three weeks on Tuesday. It was crazy hard the first week better last week and in the past three days I barely think about food and we went out to dinner on Thursday AND Friday! Hang in there.

I took off three weeks, could have gone back at two but the time off was good.

    Gallbladder surgery vs. Sleeve surgery

The gallbladder was easier for me. I was up and paid. Free the same day. The incision where the stomach was removed was paid fuel for a few days and tender for about 10 days. Wearing a compression tank top REALLY helped with the incision pain.

    3 weeks out, food volume?

I can't seem to edit on my tablet but wanted to add that you can do most of your measuring using those 5c.f. cups from the hospital . 2 scoops of protein to 1 scoop of carbs (low calorieveggies for me but a cup of yams or platforming in a while.

    3 weeks out, food volume?

I can't stress the importance of weighing or measuring your food. You don't want to over eat. Really don't. Especially if your out with friends having fun because the fun will stop. If you eat in restaurants have the wait person bring you a box with your mean unpack away the "extra" (most of the meal!) Before you even start eating. Drink your Fluid when you wait for your food. You might have to remove it from the table so you don't forget not to drink.

    Protein Sample Menu

I don't think I could eat enough food to get 90 grams of Protein. Suspect ill be drinking supplements until my weight is down to where I can get by on 50-60 grams a day. Meanwhile I use unflavored Protein powder. This whole eating to live instead of living to eat thing is a life changer.

What do you do when you are exhausted?

Eat when you're hungry, rest when you're tired...learning to pay attention to r body and responding appropriately. It's all part of the journey. Be kind d to yourself, maybe for the first time in years. If you are past the surgery recovery period and find that you're exhausted or sleeping way the day see your Dr to see if it's physical. You might be anemic or low on Viet D...If it's it physical get a depression screening. Big changes, even changes for the good, can be very stressful.
  11. How much fluid are you getting per day?

    Cream of Wheat

It's a yes on my list too. 1/4 cup dry makes twice as ch as I can eat. I make it with 4oz of warm cashew milk mixed with a 1/2 scoop of protein powder (about 10 grams protein) very filling.

    Coffee creamer

Ever read the label or "creamer"? I don't think it qualifies as food. Why not milk or even 1/2 &1/2 ?
  14. I actually told my surgeons not to Nick my liver...she said I should be more worried about my spleen... Remember to keep sipping Water all the time you are awake.

    Vacation after surgery?

We had a trip to Europe already planned. Leaving Dec 16. I finished my prerequisites on 10/3 and my surgeon kindly scheduled my surgery for 10/25 so I would be fully recovered because of the theoretical risk of blood clots with all the air travel. Seems like a month would be plenty of time to recover enough to travel. Eating on the road might be challenging. Plan ahead. Get a small scale and maybe a small "bullet" type thing to chop/mince your food.

    Premier protein

I agree the premiere shakes are gross. I use the Unjury powder mostly the unflavored. A scoop in 4-6 oz of unsweetened cashew (rice, soy, almond) milk gives you about 21gr8 protein and under 125 calories.

    Shoes, shoes and more shoes!

I'm just 20 days post sleeve and all three pairs of shoes I have worn this weekend are looser. I had intended to get one ret h because they pitch the top of my food but now they are perfect. I never seemed to have puffy feet but I guess I was retaining Water. I have a hard time finding ding shoes that feel comfortable, so wow... Another unexpected side effect of weight loss!
  18. the packets are $2.00 but If you buy the canister it's a little over a $1.00 for 21 grams of protein.

    Does therapy help?

Counseling is vital. Losing half your body weight is life changing and not just because you can shopat forever 21...
  20. Male surgeon? Talk with the surgeon and evaluate your actual risk. I would not stop hormone therapy without a fight.
  21. Shelley, have u go 2 the Dr or ER ? R U OK?
  22. Weed is legal here. My instructions say no smoking ANYTHING. I can use tiincture and eatables after 10 weeks. Probably should consult your surgon.

    State Medicaid and IIH/PTC

Medicare does this to save money. It would be better if the government gave a crap about health since education would improve long term out comes. More and more surgeons are requiring pre op education regardless of insurance requirements. One of the reason we are fat is that we don't want wait for what we want, sometimes waiting a while is a good thing.
