It must be dump week. I too was dumped after a two year relationship. We were best friends for eight years prior. I thought I met my soul mate. well, least to say, "everything happens for a reason". I thought everything was fine, in fact, everything was perfect. we talked about getting married and having children. funny how I never wanted to get married or have any more children ( i have a 14 yr old) before we were together. I do wish you the best. since I am in that hurting phase I cant tell you you will get over it soon. best wishes.

Post-op depression, or are my meds just not working?
bratz98363 replied to DivaRae's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been banded since march. I totally know what you mean by going into depression. I had depression really bad after i had my daughter 14 yrs ago... and i felt the same symptoms after i got the band. I am feeling much better now but I too was added another antidepressant. it seems to be helping. I haven't done much of anything; exercising, socializing, going out of my house.. this weekend i actually got up at a decent time and went to town with my grandmother and enjoyed myself. I have full hope that i will get over this as well. I am sorry you're depressed and hope you feel better soon. -
Harley, you look great...

Christine, Great job with your NSV.! Feeling much better today... thanks for the support.

up date. went to see my PCP. I have bronchial pneumonia, again! this sucks major. They want me to take a few days off of work. funny how my PCP is my supervisor....lol. since I need to come to work because I can't take anymore time off from all the absences from surgery and being sick, hmmmmmmmmmm, how can I pull that one off....lol
-
thanks for the replies. First I came down with pneumonia, and have been sick since. My question is, "is the anesthetics still in me and causing my immune system to crash?". I do have an appointment today with my PCP. just a note; I have been following all the rules of the lap band, so I do believe that I am getting all my nutrition, Proteins...etc. In regards to the band: I am starting to like my band, not quite in love with my band yet. I have been getting regular fills. I have had three fills and am currently at 6.6 cc in a 14 cc band. I don't even think about having it anymore. I use to feel for my port everyday, and I don't do that anymore. I eat "normal", how weird is that? I have lost about 38 pounds including pre-op diet. Thanks to all the reading of the support that is given on this site has helped me tremendously because I originally thought this wasn't going to work for me and I would be that one person that it did not work for. I am using my band a tool not the solution. thanks again.

Hello, I haven't posted in while, but I do read everyday. I love reading all the post from everyone. there seems to be a bond going on in here... I have a whooo. I have had the band for two months and on week. I have been sick with a bad flue bug since. I can't seem to shake it. I am beginning to wonder if I am sick because of the band or if it is just a bug that takes time to get rid of. I am normally healthy and only catches a cold maybe once a year, and NOW I have had this sickness for two months and one week. I was just wondering if anyone out there has been sick more, or more often since being banded?

I had my surgery on a Friday and returned back to work the following Monday. I felt fine, however I was just a wee bit sore, not much.

I just had my second fill on May 12, and that is when they really explained to me how the fills work for your band. The first three to four fills are for priming the band. meaning some will stay in your band and some will be in your port tube; and it will fluctuate from day to day. I was told after about the third or fourth fill you will hit your "sweet" spot. That is why you're recommended to start with your protein first; so you know you are getting your proteins then your veggies. I have a little over 5cc's in my APL; and I have some restriction but not a lot. So I believe I will need to definitely go in for another fill in about three weeks. They have also highly recommended you practice your routine eating, such as; eating your proteins first, the drinking rule..etc, what ever your dietitian or surgeon suggests. Because before you get to your "sweet" spot is for all your practicing; and after, when you hit your 'sweet " spot your have no more practicing time. you will need to follow your recommendations to a "T" for your band to work.

It hurts like hell right in at the center of your chest bone... At least that is what I have experiences. I stop eating right then and there if I get just a little uncomfortable pain in my chest. I know if I take that next bite I am done for.

Ok. I am going to jump in on this subject...lol. I am approximately seven weeks out and I have constipation issues. This last weekend I went out of town and was having this issue. My daughter and I went to the grocery store to by prune juice. Well, by the time we walked out we had grape juice, apple juice, prune juice, pom tea, and a bunch of fruit. You would of thought that I was thirsty.. hehehehe. I tried the pom tea first and ate my grapefruit, which I believed worked because I have been going regular ever since. Not sure if it was the tea or fruit, but I am going to continue to keep those two things in my diet.

GREAT JOB.! I needed some motivation today... Thanks.

Do You Regret Getting Banded ??? VOTE !
bratz98363 replied to ramone's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I still am not sure if I regret my band or thankful for it. I have not had any problems with my band; however I have had a few PB's, but no bad ones. I am thankful that I do eat less, but I tend to over eat at lunch time because that is when my band is loose and I know I can eat more. I am learning how to have new relationship with food, how weird is that? -
sorry about your dog Lisa. How ironic you bring up your situation. I am on jury duty in my community because of a band breed court issue. this dog is pit mix, and I don't want to be on this jury because I too have a pet that is my family. good luck.

I had to go back to liquids for two day after my fill. The fill specialist said that it was to make sure the swelling has gone down and won't irritate the new stomach....

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!
bratz98363 replied to HarleyGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first NSV yesterday. My daughter has a pair of jeans that are way too big for her (size 24). I asked her if I could wear them when I lose about 10 more pounds. she said, "mom you can wear them now, because they are "magical Jeans"". I was thinking "yeah right". I tried them on and they fit. It was way too cool. I haven't been able to fit jeans for about two years now and it is great to be able to have zippers instead of elastic all around. Congrats to everyones NSV...... -
I was banded 21st of March and I am still thinking of that this is not going to work for me. I have lost weight, but all on my own. My surgeon says that the band is not doing anything for me until the first fill. I have had my first fill and I still feel the same way. I go for my second fill on 5/16. I was starting to wonder if I had done the right thing by getting the LB, but now I am more than determined to make this work. I have put too much time into this ( and money), that I don't want it to fail me.
