    Depression

I was an irritable mess for the first few days after surgery. The pain medication made me super grumpy at everything. Since I was lucky & didn't have much pain, I weaned myself off those meds asap. That helped me. Good luck to you. You are not alone.
  2. Getting off blood pressure medication. It happened about six weeks after WLS. It's not been more than three years since surgery. I've gained some weight back but still don't need blood pressure medication!
  3. You've lost 4.5 pounds in 8 days? That's great! Losing 15-20 pounds in 8 days sounds very dangerous! You're doing great! Keep doing what you're doing! One of the biggest traps we WLS patients fall into is comparing ourselves to others. Remember: You're not running anyone else's race & nobody else is running yours. Good luck. You are not alone.
  4. I'm sorry this is happening to you. You don't deserve it. Remember your PCP is just one voice among many. If this person won't give you the support you need, you need to find another route. Talk to your surgical team about what your PCP said. I bet this isn't the first time they've dealt with this. In fact, they may know alternate routes for you. Good luck. You are not alone.

    Are TUMS a food group?

Interesting. I take Omeprazole in the morning & Tums at night. That works well for me. And I agree: Acid reflux is awful! You are not alone.

    A New Goal

You're going to be great! Good luck! Remember that you're not alone!

    Post op freak out

You overate two days in a row. Forgive yourself but don't overeat a third day in a row. Course correct. You're making so much progress! Good luck. You are not alone.

    Liquid diet

Remember the rest of us got through it. You can too! You are not alone.
  9. Winston Churchill said, "If you're going through Hell, keep going." We've all been there. You are not alone.

    Anxiety and Surgery

Have you considered that your greatest strength (the ability to control outcomes) has become your greatest weakness (nearly paralyzing you from taking positive action)? I say this only because I recognize it's the same situation for me. You are not alone.
  11. You're not alone. 99.999% of everything that happens to you will already have happened to someone else. I'm three & a half years post surgery but I remember the phase you're in well. I was so irritable. One reason your surgical team is having you do this now is they need to see you demonstrate some discipline. The surgery isn't going to do all the work for you. In fact, it's just a tool. You have to know how to use it effectively. Part of that is learning how to prepare less food, learning how to consume less food, & probably moving more. You're exactly where you should be. Good luck!

    Now! Really

Welcome to the forum. If you stick around, you'll find 99.999% of everything that happens to you will have already happened to someone else. You are not alone.

    “Acting out” Before Surgery

I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I know it happened to me before I was sleeved about three & a half years ago. Now that I'm far enough on the other side, I look at some of the food I used to shovel down & ask, "Why did this food(s) have such power over me? What about it did I let control my life?" And I reply back to myself, "I don't know." What if - just as an experiment - you look at food & really ask yourself why it has power over you? Good luck. You are not alone.

    Surgery approval

    Congratulations! What a great feeling!

    Marijuana

@FluffyChix You've repeatedly asserted that marijuana causes the munchies. Maybe that's the case for you. But that's not the case for everyone. While the original poster asked about smoking, smoking isn't the only way to ingest marijuana. Edibles exist to avoid inhalation & problems associated with it.

    Bad Choices

Of course you're not the only one to go through this. I bet you'd find the vast majority of us on this board have made a bad choice or three pre or post surgery. Beating yourself up feels pretty good sometimes, right? Do you know what feels better all the time? Being your own best friend. What if you tried that instead?

    Functioning Alcoholic

Maybe it's time to change that old profile pic, @_Kate_, so it reflects who you are now.
  18. I'm very lucky & don't have loose skin so I'm not planning surgery for its removal.
  19. That's great! See you over on the post-surgery weight-loss forum!

    Need confirmation

There's no such thing as "losing like everyone else". Each of us loses a bit differently. The important part is your weight is coming down, which should lead to healthier outcomes. Good luck to you. You are not alone.

    Pre op diet question

@Sosewsue61 is right: The liquid diet is to shrink your liver. Don't discount the importance of this. Second, consuming liquids before surgery gets you used to it. You're going to need to be used to it right after surgery. The good news for you is that you're part of a community that has gone through the same thing! You are not alone. Good luck!

    Year out and eating anything

What you're experiencing is very common. I experienced it too. Here's the way I think about it: First you were probably on a liquid diet. Second, you had surgery. Third, you lost weight quickly. All these stages are temporary. Now you've reached the fourth stage, which in my opinion is permanent. It's the maintenance phase. What happens now is much less dramatic. Now it's no longer about the sleeve doing the work. Now it's about YOU doing the work. This is the phase all other phases have been building up to. This is where the real day to day work happens. As far as I know, we all go through these same stages. Welcome to the other side. You are not alone here. Good luck.
