    Messed up

Don't beat yourself up. I don't know any WLS patient who hasn't slipped at least once. You've acknowledged your slip, now move on. You should be fine. You are not alone. Good luck.
  2. Many people who have battled weight for a long time don't recognize themselves in the mirror after they've lost a significant amount of weight. Others of us are the opposite: For those who haven't battled weight for a long time, when we gain a lot of weight, we don't recognize ourselves anymore. That's one motivator for pursuing surgery! Then, when we do lose a lot of weight, we start recognizing ourselves in the mirror again. No matter which group you fall into, you are not alone. Good luck.
  3. First, thanks for your service. I too am a military veteran who's struggled with weight for a long time. Second, that's so not cool that your psych eval went that way. I'm so sorry that happened to you. You don't deserve it. If that psychiatrist told you she didn't want your kid coming to her office one day, she put her needs ahead of yours. That's so not cool. Get a second opinion. A third opinion if necessary. Good luck. You are not alone.
  4. As @Sprinkles1 said, losing 40 pounds in less than a month is amazing! Congratulate yourself! When you're done patting yourself on the back, the next thing to do is leave your assumptions behind! I doubt you put on 40 pounds in less than a month, so be happy you've lost 40 pounds in less than a month! Good luck! You are not alone.
  5. If you lost 13lb in the first week, I'm not surprised your body has slowed your metabolism down & you aren't losing in the second week. NONE of that means you're not going to lose weight after you have the sleeve! Good luck! You are not alone!

    Acid reflux?

I'm three plus years post surgery & still my longest lasting complication is acid. Here's how I manage it: I take an Omeprazole in the morning & a Tums just before bed. Together that allows me to produce less acid & combat the acid my body does produce. Proactive & reactive, if you will. Good luck. You are not alone.

    Emotional!!

If you want to cry, cry! You just permanently altered your body. You just forever changed your relationship with food. You're changing the person you see in the mirror. I know I cried too. You are not alone.

6 months of fear and self doubt

Take this time to address your anxiety. Therapists, meditation, articles, books, possibly medication. Your profile says you life in California, like I do. Marijuana is legal here & has helped with my anxiety & PTSD tremendously. I don't want to make this a post about pot - I'm just pointing out you have options. Good luck. You are not alone.

    Isopure: flavor recommendations

I'm enjoying the coffee flavored Isopure powder as I type this! I also like the espresso flavor but that one keeps going in & out of stock.
  10. I'm glad you're feeling better. It's not true that you have no one to support you. You have us. And believe me, we're a lot. It's true that weight loss surgery sucks. But you know what sucks more? Not being able to walk up stairs. Not fitting in airplane seats. Not fitting in a restaurant booth. Not being able to be as physically intimate as we'd like to be. Not being able to walk into a store & buy clothes. Getting stared at. Having people make comments. To me, those are all way worse. You are not alone. Good luck!
  11. Watching this thread closely. I was sleeved 3.5 years ago & have regained more than I'd like.
  12. It's great that you're being proactive getting your questions together. Since you're already doing that, my advice is to keep your ears wide open. Listen not only to the answers you get, but also the questions & answers the doctors & other patients have. Be open & you'll learn something you didn't know you didn't know or at least develop empathy to understand what others are going through. You are not alone. Good luck!

    I got sleeved today!

Congratulations! See you over on the post-surgery forum!
  14. Taste is entirely subjective. What tastes best to me may not taste best to you. That said, I prefer Isopure products. Good luck.
  15. I think you'll get a variety of answers here. I had almost no pain at my incisions. Good luck to you, though!

    Getting nervous

I don't know anyone who's had WLS who HASN'T been nervous at some point. You're about to alter your body forever. But rather than freaking out about complications that haven't happened yet, what if you put your focus on the fact that complications WILL happen if you DON'T have weight loss surgery? Take your same mental energy, focus it differently, & you'll achieve a different outcome. Good luck. You are not alone.
  18. I bought a bunch of those Gas-X strips but didn't need them. That'll vary person to person, though. Good luck!
  19. You're at one of the hardest points in your journey. Know that every single one of us who've already had WLS has been there too. Some had an easier time than others, but we've all been there. You're going to make it through this, just like the rest of us. Good luck. You are not alone.
  20. With all due respect, you're worrying about a problem that doesn't exist & may never exist. I'm three & a half years post surgery & I've never felt nauseous. I've also never thrown up. I've had some acid reflux, but that's under control. Good luck!

    I WAS SLEEVED TODAY!

Congratulations! I'm glad to read you're not in much pain. Welcome to the other side. See you on the post-surgery forum!

    Plastics

The fact is, you don't KNOW you're going to have excess skin. I was convinced I was going to but 3.5 years after surgery, I don't have excess skin. You've got enough going on right now so cross each bridge as you come to it. Good luck!

    What now???

If your insurance company requires a six month supervised weight loss, you may have to do that. If your surgical team found any abnormalities, you may have to deal with whatever that is. Even if you don't have a supervised weight loss time or complications, you're still at the mercy of your surgeon's calendar. How long you have to wait may depend on how many other people your surgeon already has scheduled. Good luck!
  24. You told everyone about your surgery, which I think is great. By doing that, you controlled your narrative. But now everyone's asking you about it & it's bugging you. What do you do about it? The same thing you did the first time: Control your own narrative. Tell people what you want them to say to you. Teach them to be supportive but not invasive. You did this once & you can do it again! Good luck. You are not alone.

    Scared out of my mind

It's okay to be scared. That's natural. I know I was so scared that I was going to die on the operating table. Both of my parents died as a result of surgeries & I was convinced I would too. I brought my concern to my surgical team & they were wonderful about handling the situation. They talked me through understanding that my parents died more than 15 years ago & had undergone life saving surgeries. We're more medically advanced than ever & WLS is elective surgery. Anyway, take your concerns to your surgical team too. Know that you are not alone.
