I didn't care for broth either. I stuck more to soups. Good luck! You are not alone.

I've never met a WLS patient who said, right after surgery, "I'm losing weight at exactly the right pace!" You're doing great! Please recognize that! Good luck! You are not alone!

I was sleeved 4-ish years ago. You'd only see my scars if you were hunting for them. Even *I* have lost track of them except for 2. You'll get there!

Bariatric Patches for Gastric Sleeve
DaleCruse replied to Sally J's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My skin is super sensitive to any type of latex or adhesive so I choose not to use these patches. I've been taking vitamins whole since the day of surgery. That was a few years ago now. Anyway, if these work for you, use them! Good luck! You are not alone. -
Lost only 1 pound in a week
DaleCruse replied to annrose28's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You lost a pound this week? That's great! Recognize that! -
Your doctor will consider that you're quitting smoking when evaluating your weight. You're doing 2 wonderful things for your body at once! That's great! Good luck! You are not alone.

Tylenol Pills? Swallow or crush?
DaleCruse replied to EspeciallyKK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no trouble swallowing pills. Good luck! You are not alone. -
Will I be ready in time for my gig?
DaleCruse replied to Jezzabelle360's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The truth is none of us can definitively answer this for you. None of us know your pain tolerance or energy level or healing speed. My respectful suggestion to have a Plan B in case you don't feel up to performing yet. Good luck! You are not alone. -
This sounds like the majority of us! Many of us - including me - were convinced weight loss surgery wouldn't work. So many other things didn't work, so why will this? I'm more than 4 years past WLS & I can tell you it does work. It's not perfect & you still have to do the work every day. But WLS is an incredible tool to help you make better decisions. Please keep pursuing this! Good luck! You are not alone.

Alcohol Is The Enemy-HELP!
DaleCruse replied to bonvivant57's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved four years ago. Lost 108 pounds, regained 40. Why? The primary reason was I started drinking again. I'm one of those people you read about. I couldn't stop at one glass of wine. I had to finish the bottle. Then another. Every night. I quit drinking one year & 90 days ago. I never did anything bad. Never drove drunk, never missed work, never physically hurt anyone. But I felt rotten. So I quit. It was hard but ever day gets a little easier. What I'm really trying to say is: Know yourself. If you can control yourself, well, enjoy. But I know I'm not one of those people. I'm like the hokey-pokey: I'm either all in or all out. Whatever you decide, good luck to you. You are not alone. -
I was sleeved four years ago. There's not a single thing I can't eat now. Sure, I eat a lot less food per serving, but there's nothing I can't eat anymore. We create so much anxiety for ourselves, convincing ourselves that we'll never eat certain foods, we'll never eat out again, people will treat us differently, & we'll never enjoy life again. And you know what? All of that is made up in our heads. Good luck to you. You are not alone.

Dr made my opening too small

Good luck to all of you! Let us know how it goes so others can learn from your experiences, please! Thanks! -
Is that some light I see?
DaleCruse replied to Jenwill630's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you tell yourself things will go wrong, they will. Conversely, if you tell yourself things will go right, they will. Good luck. -
I was sleeved four years ago. About three weeks or so after surgery I had two McDonald's french fries. They HURT going down. It was difficult, but I went right back to my liquid diet. The experience really helped me understand the importance of healing. Good luck to you!

So I finally told my parents
DaleCruse replied to GettinSkinnywithit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Support is HUGE. Congratulations! -
Sounds like a bad day. Every one of us has had a bad day. Or even a bad week. It sounds like you're focused on the "what" of weight loss. Try focusing on your "why" instead. Why are you considering weight loss? Consider writing a list & look at it at least daily. It'll do wonders to keep you on track! Good luck! You are not alone.

Pre approval weight loss program
DaleCruse replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why are you so convinced you're going to get turned down? Tell your doctor your concern. If you have a history with this doctor, that person will know you've tried other weight-loss approaches already. Respectfully push back if the doctor starts to say no. Good luck. -
Welcome to the forum. There's LOTS of resources here, both pre & post surgery. My suggestion is to contact the bariatric surgeon nearest you. Schedule a consultation. Talk to the surgical team. Get to know them. Let them get to know you. If you have a good rapport, pursue your surgery through them. If you don't feel comfortable, try another surgeon/surgical team. Be careful not to let your own apprehensions about surgery make you unable to decide which surgeon to work with. Good luck. You are not alone.

Teach those physical children not to jump on you while you recover from surgery. Good luck! You are not alone.

Did you solve your “head hunger” before surgery?
DaleCruse replied to Chevron's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't really understand head hunger until after surgery. Here's what works for me: I imagine a big, juicy, perfectly cooked steak in front of me. Then I ask myself if I'd eat it. If I answer yes, then I'm actually hunger. But if I answer no, I realize that's head hunger. Of course the point isn't steak. Choose your own substitute. Good luck! You are not alone. -
You're beating yourself up. Instead of acting like your own worst enemy, consider being your own best friend. Another way to think of it is you've got an angel on one shoulder & a devil on the other. Both of them are talking to you at the same time. The devil tells you some slider foods & snacks would taste so good. The angel says, "Tiffany, you know what to do. You got this!" Listen to that angel & tell that devil to go back to hell! Good luck to you! You are not alone.

Support Person Anxiety / Negativity
DaleCruse replied to Bootscraper's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your partner hasn't earned the right to enjoy the best of you without also suffering through the worst of you. But the opposite is true too! You haven't earned the right to enjoy the best of your partner without suffering through the worst of that person. Has there been a time when you supported your partner when that person needed it? If so, perhaps there are stories you can relate to that person about what you dealt with. Now you're calling in a favor & asking that person to be with you again at your worst. Good luck! You are not alone.
