    New diagnosis

Every one of us has to work on the root cause of our overeating. Surgery is a tool but not a fix.
  2. I'm sorry all this is happening to you. You don't deserve it.
  3. You're gonna be great!
  4. All good suggestions so far. If you're eating with someone, consider splitting something. I'm lucky that my wife is willing to split with me 99% of the time. Considering this is your first day off pureed food, maybe take it easy today. Be kind to yourself. Maybe eat a little less so you don't stuff yourself and eat a little more later. Just because others are eating all at once doesn't mean you have to. Good luck!

    Cold feet

There were times I felt like I was drowning in hunger. It was hard, but I kept reminding myself drowning in hunger was better than drowning in fat. Good luck! You got this!

    Work

I took about three days or so but I have a desk job. Do what you can when you're ready.

    Spouse helping

You're being a very good spouse by asking for suggestions. Nice job! One thing to keep in mind is your spouse may look very different after losing a lot of weight. But that person is still the person you fell in love with. That person may look a little different, may act a little different, but is still that person you fell in love with.

    I survived!

I'm two years post surgery and still have difficulty getting enough water. Crystal Light helps me a lot though. Good luck!

    Surgery denied

I'm sorry you are hurting. Work with specialists to get control over your stress eating. If you had weight-loss surgery and continued to stress eat, you'd be in a world of hurt. Remember that you're not back to square one. You've just taken some serious strides to identifying and controlling your problem. Good luck and remember we're here to help! You can do this!

    Alcohol

I'm two years post surgery and I tolerate wine very well. A little too well. :-( I can tolerate beer but it makes me feel bloated so I don't enjoy it. Hard liquor (which is >20% alcohol for me) I can't handle. I get very sloppy very quickly. My suggestion to the original poster is to take a sip rather than a full shot at once. If you tolerate a sip or two, then do what you're going to do. But if you can't tolerate a sip, you definitely can't tolerate a full shot at once. Be careful. Good luck to you!

    Help me please

This situation is hard. Two-plus years ago when I was prepping surgery, I didn't think I could make it through the pre-op liquid diet. I felt like I was drowning of hunger. It was so hard for me - and for my wife to put up with me. I felt like if I made one little slip, I'd ruin everything. I understand now that wasn't the case. Anyway, good luck to you. If you start feeling hunger that you think you can't control, drop by here for some fresh inspiration. You can do this!

    Can Sleeve Stretch

It might stretch a little but you'd have to work really hard to get it anywhere near where it was pre-surgery.

    Crying on the bathroom floor

This is frustrating and I'm so sorry. Many of us have been there. For a while, consider focusing not on weight but on NSVs, which are Non-Scale Victories. Maybe certain clothing fits you better, maybe you can walk further than you used to, maybe you're making better decisions about what to eat. It gets better. Promise.

    Pre-op Testing

Sounds like what I had. What other tests were you expecting?

    Question

Mine got worse but I eat a lot of high acid foods. To control it, I take one Omeprazole in the morning and one Tums at night. Depending on your diet, your results might be very different. Good luck!

    Almost 2 years out

I've been waiting for this conversation! I'm just over two years past surgery and I can certainly eat more. I've also gained some weight back. It's a constant struggle for me. Protein definitely fills me up fast. Hard boiled eggs especially. Pasta is almost never a good choice for me. I try to eat as little bread as I can. Hard liquor is off limits for me. Makes me sloppy. But I do notice an increased wine tolerance. :-( My wife is a food product developer for a healthy snack company. While that sounds cool, there's always Snacks at home. While they're healthy, if they weren't here I wouldn't eat them. I still have work to do.

    Regrets after surgery?

Lots of people have temporary regret. You're going to make it. Hang in there. We're here.
  21. I didn't lose any hair after surgery, no. :-)

    Should I try?...

I never had my nutritionist say no nuts or seeds, but okay. My suggestion is to work with your nutritionist and try small amounts of things at a time. Good luck!

    Curious Question?

I'm two years past sleeving and I'm aware of it multiple times a day. I can't just carelessly shove food down my throat. I can't chug water. But I can walk 10k steps a day, run, and most importantly, recognize myself when I look in the mirror.
