hillnicole34 reacted to MelodyBronson in 4th WLS procedure coming up this week!!! No judgement!
No judgment from me! I have just had my 4th WLS as well! I was banded in 2004, had slippage and issues and it was removed in 2005....lost about 30 pounds. Decided to try again with the band about 2 years later. I seemed to have the same issues as you: too tight or if full of liquids my eating was somewhat restricted but could certainly get down junk food! Lost weight, gained weight...up and down over the years....In 2012 did a revision to the sleeve....Lost 30 pounds and that was ALL I ever lost..Even though I could eat very little.....(I have had to self-pay for all of my surgeries)....On May 30, 2017 I did a revision from the Sleeve to Bypass......Have lost only 20 lbs so far....my eating is somewhat restricted but I do have any "dumping issues" so sweets are not a problem even though I have restricted them. I ate a cookie to see how my body would react.....No issues here. So I have to be extremely disciplined with my eating, otherwise I will not lose weight. I eat about 900 calories a day and am exercising 5-6 days a week. I do have a food restriction on how much I can eat at a time and have eaten too much already and it came back up! But I thought my stomach was going to be the size of a walnut after this surgery but I can certainly eat more food than the size of a walnut! Will see how my weight loss journey goes over the next 12 months!!

There are plenty of graphics out there that aren't graphic. Yeah, people should do their own research, and ask lots of questions, but the reality is a lot of people won't. It sounds very noble to say that the doctor should refuse to operate on those who are not informed, but doctors are people just like the rest of us, and this is a for profit operation on a couple of levels. If the doc does his thing and you get fat again, it isn't his problem, and he has been paid. It all goes back to the old saying - "You can lead a horse to Water..."

First, Calm down PLEASE. It's been only 2 weeks, and you are still healing internally (it takes 6-8 weeks to fully heal from the surgery). Right now it's real work just to drink enough Protein each day and get your daily Vitamins and supplements in (Not doing so will cause REAL health problems, so be vigilant)
Second, the hormone that was removed was NOT Human Growth Hormone, but Ghrelin, which governs your feelings of hunger. You will now age FAR more gracefully since your body will not be working overtime to carry extra weight going forward - your knees and hips are writing you a Thank You note right now!
Third, Gastric Sleeve removes Excess stomach but keeps your digestive tract in place and fully functioning. A Bypass would have reshaped your stomach and reroutes a piece of your small intestines. Your internet research got it backwards.
Fourth, as far as I have been able to determine, Sleeve surgery will NOT prevent you from having children. Just make sure that your GYN and your General Doctor are aware of your surgery before you try to have kids.
Fifth, your weight loss will be quick, yes, but not instant. Let your body heal, and your mind adjust to your new stomach. Don't lose your mind when you finally get to solid foods and you suddenly find that there are foods that you just don't like anymore or can't tolerate (Rice, Salami, and pizza in my case). My life isn't over, and I have discovered Salmon!
Remember that so many people on this forum wish that they had acted sooner for one simple reason - The Surgery WORKS. You are to be admired for your courage and decisiveness to reclaim your health BEFORE serious issues (that could have prevented a future pregnancy, for sure) became a part of your daily routine. Look for a Support Group in your area and talk to your Surgeon and Nutritionist. Again I say BRAVO to you for reclaiming your health and making the rest of your life a LOT better than it looked a few weeks ago!!!!

Not a silly question at all! I'm 2.5 months post op. I find my libido varies wildly due to the fluctuating hormones. Some weeks I just don't care for any type of contact, some we're intimate 3 or more times a day lol.

Physically, sex feels the same (then again I haven't lost a large amount of weight yet). Still have the energy and endurance I did pre-op, nothing hurts, we can do all the same things we did before. I may be a tad more flexible now, but that may be due to working out and stretching. A fun little result of losing weight is that my boyfriend has an easier time picking me up now so that's a thing.

Now this might just be me and I should probably start scheduling sessions with my therapist again, but I find that I'm a lot more aware of my body and self conscious than I used to be. My partner still finds me attractive and has said that he'll be just as attracted to me when I get to 120 lbs as he was when I was 250 lbs. But, sometimes before or during sex I'll be very aware of my rolls or belly or some other imperfection and get really depressed and turned off. Keep in mind, most people will probably get confidence boosts from losing weight so this likely won't happen to you!

Side note: Fertility will improve as you lose the excess weight. If you aren't already, you'll want to get on some sort of birth control (pill, nexplanon, etc). Condoms are still necessary if you aren't in a committed relationship.

Was that stated in the policy or did the plan say something like a surgeon directed plan , or was your policy worded similarly to mine?
I'm purely just interpretating the vague wordedness of my own plan

I have a question about the meetings with the nutritionist. At my 2nd visit, I turned in a log for the prior month. Did you do this? If so, did you get any feedback? Did the nutritionist say what the goal was, or what they would be checking for? Thanks.

hillnicole34 reacted to FabNFit@40 in What are you saying?
I have told only 3 people, my reason is simple. It's no one's business but my own. 3 years ago I decided to lose the weight and I did . I changed my eating habits and with exercise, diet pills and weight loss injections, I lost about 60lbs. I kept up the exercise but the eating habits slowly came back. I got 50 million questions on the weight loss and how I did it. I was honest, shared my tips and tricks. As I begin to put the weight back on, I got twice the number of questions and OMG the co-workers begin to talk behind my back saying things like they knew I wouldn't keep it off. Anyhow, it has taken me quite some time to decide on WLS and I have done my homework, research, and for now the best thing for me is to keep quiet. I am doing it for my health mainly because I can easily become like many of my family riddled with health issues. I'm taking control of my life and doing it my way for me. So do it for you, do what is best for you. People will always talk, let them. I just keep smiling and keep it moving

Thank you for the compliment. I truly do appreciate it. As for if I would do the surgery again, yes I would. Even though I didn't suffer from GERD or acid reflux, and instead of hair loss, I got body Hair growth, I did have memory complications post surgery. It was ruled to be caused by the general anesthesia that I was under during the sleeve procedure. It took the better part 10/12 months for my memory to come back to the level that it was at pre-surgery. That's the main part about this surgery that personally suck for me. So if I could do it again and avoid the memory loss then without a shadow of a doubt I would do it. But if knowing that I would suffer from the short term memory loss stuff again I would have been for a long time about what I need to go through the surgery or not. Because the memory issues did have some effects on my everyday life from my job performance even the relationships that I was and during that timeframe. Good bye. ..McDonald's Sweet Tea. I will miss your sweetness. You are my most favorite drink in the world. I spent good money on you week after week. But that's all over.
Good bye....candy. Oh candy. Our relationship is almost 40 years old. Many times you have been my best friend. Any and all types of candy. I have loved you all. There is something so fabulous about eating candy...but the reality is that you were a bandaid to my life. If I got upset, happy, mad or sad...you were always there. But that's all over.
Good bye Cool Ranch Doritos and Lime Tostitos. You two were good for a night time hang out. But that's all over.
Good bye Soda...esp Wild Cherry Pepsi. I mean come on your WILD and quick and easy to find at every check out aisle in every store. But that's all over.
Today I am breaking up with all of you. I am starting my Day 1 of PreOp. Your power and control over me are no more. I am ready to make new friends. Friends that will take care of my body, heal my body, nourish my body....not slowly try to kill me. You and I have had a lifetime together. But your time has ended and mine is just beginning....and you will not have any power left over me.
    Sincerely,
The girl who loved you too much but realizes she deserves more.
