  1. Hey guys, this is for all of Dr. David Kim's patients. How is everyone feeling about the shake up at KBI(now DFW Bariatric Institute)? With Dr. Kim stepping back and Dr. Holden leaving, I'm really worried about going through this practice to get my procedure done. I am in love with the inverted sleeve technique and I really hate to switch to another surgeon now that I am halfway through this pre-op process, but I am not super impressed with the two remaining surgeons. Anybody else have thoughts on all of this??

    Dr. David Kim patients

Hi Neil, I did have the VSG on 4/28/2017, and Dr. Castro was my surgeon. He is with DFW Bariatric Institute (formally Kim Bariatric Institute. It was very frustrating be a patient during their transition, but only insurance/paperwork wise. My surgery was awesome. Dr. Castro took very good care of me and I recovered very quickly. I have lost 103 lbs, and I'm only 7 lbs from my goal weight! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
  3. I am doing great! I have lost 58 lbs and just 2 lbs from onederland!! People are starting to notice my weight loss and that makes me feel good (I didn't tell many people about my surgery). I'm wearing clothes that I haven't worn in years. The best part is the energy! I haven't had this much in energy in so long. It feels amazing!!!

    Gastric sleeve as outpatient?

My husband had VSG back in October 2015 and went home the same the day. He was completely fine. He just had to focus on taking sips of water and walking. I am scheduled for VSG this Friday and it will be outpatient. I asked my surgeon how he felt about it and he said that research shows people rest/recover better at home.

    April Sleevers? Buddies?

My surgery is 4/28 and I am 5 days into my pre-op liquid diet. It has been harder than I thought. I'm fine till I see or smell food and then my mouth starts watering. I finally got my energy back last night which was really nice. It is getting a little easier as the days go on. I'm just so excited about my surgery next Friday!

    Food idea list

Is there somewhere that I can find list of ideas of food I can eat throughout the day?

    Food idea list

I am still pre op. I am just trying to get acquainted with my future diet as well as help my hubby that had his sleeve done over a year ago. I am also trying to wrap my mind around how I am going to eat so many times a day. So I am looking for ideas from other bariatric friends on what they eat on a daily basis. I am kind of hoping there is some sort of list on some website that I haven't found yet that has ideas for each small meal to eat throughout the day.
  19. I am meeting my new surgeon tomorrow. My previous surgeon stepped down due to legal issues. What questions should I ask my new surgeon? I have a few now that I have been really researching surgery, but I wanted to see if there are any out there that I haven't thought of.
  20. Stepping on the scale and finding out that I weigh more now then I did when I was pregnant with my twins 12 years ago.
  21. My insurance coordinator takes forever to get back with me on my questions, so I figured I would post me question here to hopefully get a quicker response. What is a surgery scheduling fee? My insurance covers my surgery 100%, so is this just something the doctor's office is throwing in there to make more money?
  22. Well, Dr. Kim has left his practice. So no need to look into him for your surgery anymore.

    Straw Poll

I just recently decided to get sleeved in the spring. My husband was sleeved in October 2015, so I have learned a lot about this process through him. He never drinks with a straw because he was told it will put air into your stomach leaving little room for more Water or vital nutrients. I love drinking out of straws!! So, my question to you is do you drink through a straw post-op or not?

    Tips to drink more water

I thought after surgery, you were not supposed to use a straw because it puts air into you new stomach. The air takes up space when you really should be drinking or eat something.
