My dr put me on that and Prilosec for stomach ulcers.....she wants them resolved before she'll schedule my sleeve surgery. I'm taking Carafate 4x/day and Prilosec 2x/day.....Hopefully, the combination will heal the ulcers and I can get a date! Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

Dang.....had an endoscopy before the holidays; don't remember the results. Doc said she called in a Rx, but my pharmacy for some reason didn't get it to me. I went to my appointment today thinking that I was going to get a surgery date.....I instead got handed 2 Rxs for ulcer meds. I've got to take them, then have another endoscopy BEFORE I can be scheduled! ???????????? At least the doc is hopeful that I'll be able to have surgery AND be healed enough to go on my cruise the last week of April 2017. Yes, the referral can come from the surgeon you've chosen. I do recommend getting a PCP......just good to have someone you can see outside of bariatric issues. I have a PCP, but didn't discuss my plan for WLS until last week (started the ptocess back in June 2016 though). My insurance also just required a BMI of at least 40-without co-morbidities-and a referral from a doctor. I also just found out they'll pay for the surgery at 100%; no worries about deductibles! That's been my motto since I decided to take the plunge and get a healthier me! Not dealing with Negative Nancy's or Negative Norman's.......they're just haters of the worst kind. I've seen and heard the reactions from various family members regarding other members having the surgery and I'm not built for jail-which is where I'd end up after beating the brakes off of one of them for not minding their own business (although I could make a very convincing case for a 302 placement! I sent an email to the person who handles special diet requests to ask permission to bring my Protein shakes, and during our conversation, I explained my diet needs.
