saramarie got a reaction from Lema in Past life drive through foods...eye opener!
Hello Kel, My name is Sara and I am also a recovering BigMac addict.
It is amazing to me that I used to eat individual items that are an entire day's worth of calories!

saramarie got a reaction from mrsNilla in Just told me MIL
I had initially decided to NOT tell my MIL.. She is very thin, judgemental and my biggest critic. It was my mother who told her (gee, thanks Mom).
She knew but never said anything until a week before I went in. We were talking about my weight (a usual topic around the table at her house) and she said she thought I had surgery when I went out of town a few weeks before. I was surprised that she would even be thinking about it but she seemed to be ok with it so I broke down and told her.
To my complete surprise she has been my biggest supporter. She even bought bariatric shakes and has been drinking them and said she is proud of me.
    Who ever would have thought??

Well I guess everybody heals differently. I wish I healed as fast as you did. And every doctor is different too. My doc said 1 yr before any alcohol. I've been having a hard time with everything. Today was my 6th day and tried broth and almost threw up. So all I can handle is Water and Protein drinks. Glad it's working out this well for you. Also keep in mind it might feel ok now but ulcers are not formed overnight. But it sounds like it was only at a special occasion for the alcohol. Sorry if I'm babbling. Good luck!!!!!

saramarie reacted to Rosey posey in What do you miss or think you will miss about being obese?
I don't mean to visit FYI land but do you lose fat everywhere? Like soles of feet, knees etc. How about private areas? I figured boobs rump and both kinds of cheeks. I'll miss being asexual, strange as it seems, I may have dudes hitting on me, hadn't happened in years , now what? Well I'm gonna bear up under the strain if I must.when I let the pruned down Rosey out will anybody like me?/And more important will I like me? I'll need new clothes, what do I do with the old ones. Some I've had for years and years. I have always feared getting rid if things, figured I only deserved tacky wornout things, not bright colors, bright print or polka dots. Leather, shade and silky fabric, I spent that money on other family members. Do I deserve a turn? Yes I do, and I will. Watch out world, Turbo Rosey's coming, just grab the roll bar and breathe deeply. Posey Power for the Rosey!!!

I was concerned about that same thing~ my social life pretty much revolves around having a glass of wine with the girls (I live in wine country after all). I am only 5 days post op and I had a 5 oz glass of wine last night. I drank it over 3 hours and sipped Water in between sips of wine. I was worried about getting wasted in public so I told my husband to kick me under the table if I started acting silly. No bruises
If I were you I would make sure I had a Protein shake before I go and bring high Protein Soup mix. At the wedding ask for some hot Water in a bowl or if you don't think you can obtain some from the servers bring it in a double walled bottle as a backup and use a coffee cup. If people ask you why you aren't eating just tell them you are on a diet and was on such a weight loss roll you didn't want to stop. I really like the ProtiDiet Tomato Soup but that is a personal preference.

Mental illnesses aren't cured by loosing the weight. The boost of self-esteem, the added energy and improving health can make mental illnesses more manageable, but they don't ever heal. You might have to adjust the amounts of meds with new body weight. Going off your psych meds is dangerous. Your psych meds keep you healthy and stable. It's very different from the physical health meds. Stay healthy.
