You will be surprised as your weight drops how much your body changes. because you are so tall, you obviously do have bigger bones so I am not suggesting you dont.
I was always told i was big boned as well. I am 5'10" (I used to be 5'11") and wore a size 11W shoe. After losing all of my weight, i have learned that I have long bones but geez, what was once big wrists and feet are now very small.
I used to have to have bracelets made for my wrists that were 8.5 inches. Now I wear my tiny mother n laws bracelets and they are 7 inches!
My shoe size shrunk nearly right away (within the first 60lb loss). I wear a size 10 regular shoe! Everything has shrunk, including my height again which i was told is normal. Weird!!!
Best of luck with your new tracker and your weight loss! Welcome to a whole new life.

The Fitbit Charge 2 has an extra-large size that fits wrists up to 9.3 inches circumference. That should work?

Try one new thing at a time. You can do that every day usually. If a food does bother you, try it again in a few weeks or months. There are many foods that i could not eat right away. Raw veggies of any kind was one of them for me.
But by 6 or 8 months post op i was able to eat most things.
Also, go very slow, chew really well. Make sure your Proteins are not overcooked, nice and juicy. You may have to use sauces or broths with your Protein initially.
I still have a hard time with any pork besides pork tenderloin. But i can eat pretty much any other Protein. Fish and chicken were the easiest for me initially.

This might sound OFF THE WALL but...we have used this for years for cramps, we drink pickle juice and rub a little on your calfs. I really think it's the sodium in them, but I am not a Dr. But it sure works for us.

Don't get into the habit of replacing carby stuff with the Protein you're supposed to have instead. Find foods high in Protein you can tolerate. You only have so much room in there, make it count.
I had just mentioned in another thread how some people with the lap band get into trouble and stall or gain weight back by eating slider foods like crackers and such because unfortunately the protein rich foods seem to get 'stuck' and won't go down. Obviously you're not a bander, but having tolerance issues, but I would stick to soft food and even shakes before I would turn to that stuff first. Sometimes you have to take things a bit slower or even go backwards until you're ready to try new things and be able to tolerate them.

JHDR reacted to Pam924 in Observations from a VERY Experienced Person Two Weeks On The Other Side of Surgery
So yep -- compared to many on here, I have next to no experience ... but just wanted to share observations from 2 weeks past surgery for others in my shoes -- or others that will be there soon.
    1. I sure picked the easy way out of this! The answer to that is no. This process has completely changed my life, my thinking, my approach, each and every day and each an every hour. But in order to get control over this weight problem that is puling down so much else it needs to happen. I don't think I was aware of the level of change -- but it's significant -- and it's important.
    2. Thank God I am not hungry anymore! I wish. I am. Not in the same gnawing going to eat a live animal hungry -- but it's still a part of me. But this tool call WLS is helping get control and manage through it. Besides -- at this point the thought of busting a stitch scares me, and I am sure consumption of a wild animal would cause problems.
    3. Momma always said: You leave with the one who brung you. My surgeon and the entire team is pretty strict -- 4 weeks of liquid diet in advance (and I mean shakes only), two weeks moving to full liquids the second week after surgery. I see a lot of different instructions on the site -- and it is interesting -- but I am staying with what my team knows and wants. I figure their experience with this protocol is what works for them, so I'm sticking with it. After all, I selected them. There are different ways to do things in my profession -- and they still have good results -- it can be that was in the medical profession as well.
    4. Weight is not dropping off me with every step I take. i just went for my two week post-op today and was down only three pounds since my weight on surgery day. Yes on the fluids. Yes on the Protein. But this is just the way it is. I know I will get there. Plus, I have lost 44 pounds since my journey began in late July, which isn't nuthin' ... today my BP was 107 over 71 ... blood sugar has been hovering around 92 -- there are lots of measures of success and indicators I am doing the work needed.
    5. I value the information and feedback and openness and sometimes the raw emotions people express on this site. I use it for comfort, for context, for smiles and even sometimes to say "Are you flipping nuts to do that ...." ... internally anyway. Oh the righteousness of such incredible experience (did I mention two weeks out of surgery?).
I look forward to continuing the gather all I can from all of you -- most of whom are so much more expert than I ... and appreciate a forum to express my observations.

I'm still pre-op, and I understand where you are coming from. I'm 27, and I would of course prefer not to have extra or loose skin after I lose weight. I've been overweight most of my life, and have had some self esteem issues based on that, as well.
So, these are some thoughts I have based on your question:
I know you don't want to lose the parts of yourself that you like, but I know from experience (I've lost about 100 pounds before) that when you lose weight, you will lose at least some weight from your breasts and might have some loose skin.
Here's the most important thing: your health, your ability to LIVE a long and healthy life, is much more important than worrying about loose skin. You say that you can't afford plastic surgery, but that might not be the case forever (because it will take you a year or two to get to your maintainable weight anyway- I'm not sure what your height is, but you've probably got about 200-250 pounds to lose).
I know that you want to look good, that's natural, we all want that. But you will feel so much better with weight loss, your confidence will naturally rise. And you will look better at a smaller weight.
Think about it, as we get older, we (obese) people tend to put on more and more weight, even if slowly. At some point, our weight will get to a point where it impacts our health, our mobility, and our ability to live a normal life.
You say you don't want to be more depressed than you are. But with weight loss, a lot of people find that their depression improves. And with weight loss, it will mean you can exercise more easily, which is a natural anti-depressant. Even if your post-weight loss body doesn't look Hollywood perfect, you will feel so much better.
And in terms of the lap-band, I'm not an expert, but I don't recommend it. It's not good for as much weight as you need to lose. Also, I've had 5 friends who have had it, and they all have had some long term complication with it. Some surgeons don't even do them anymore. Regardless, the impact on your body will be the same. It took a while for you to get to 430 pounds, but with surgery you will drop weight quickly, which leads to potential for loose skin.
I am almost done with the pre-op process for my insurance and will have my sleeve in about 2 months. I am scared of surgery and I was worried about lose skin, but I just want to feel good again. I want to be able to be more active, I want to have kids and be able to chase them, professionally people take fit people more seriously and treat them with more respect than obese people, and I want to live a long life. These are the reasons why I am doing this. I too don't have money to just drop on plastic surgery (I'm 330, I'll probably need some after I get to my goal of around 140), but I created a savings plan for myself, where I put away a small amount of my paycheck every week into savings for surgery.
In regard to your exercise question, during the first 6-8 months, tho weight will come off without exercise because you are eating so little, because your stomach can't hold more. During this time, it's important to establish good healthy eating habits. However, you should exercise, not only because it will make the weight loss faster, but it will also tone your body (somewhat improving loose skin), but also because it naturally feels good to exercise (it releases good endorphins in your body). Also, you will need exercise for later in your journey, when you can eat larger portions, in order to help maintain your weight loss.
You are still so young, you have so much living left to do. Loose skin/smaller breasts are nothing to be ashamed of, and they won't kill you the way morbid obesity will. If you can, have the surgery and begin your new life.
Keep in mind that you are beautiful and worthwhile regardless of appearance. But when you lose weight and become naturally more confident, it will show on you in the best way! Don't let fear hold you back from getting a surgery that will definitely improve your quality of life.

My hat is off to you for hanging in there with such severe reactions. I have not had surgery, but I know from past experience when I make wrong choices, I beat up myself... Without mercy. I get very little done. Please don't do like I do... learn from your past choices. I believe in you. You can turn this around. "OzRoo" gave you some great suggestions. I would call your team for help soon. And look up the site Eggface. I think you will find a lot of useful information.

I'm 5 months out, and I had a little turkey, a litttttle mashed potatoes, gravy and carrots. Stomach is ok so far but I also have gallstones and don't want to trigger them so I'm taking more precautions! I currently left the room for dessert time. It sucks so much but I'm 100 lbs thinner in 5 months. By next thanksgiving I'll be a size 8! ????

My team was very adamant that I stay on top of my pain medication, because, as they said "once it builds back up, it's difficult to get it under control again." I'm two days out, still taking my pain and nausea meds, and wearing a binder while also bracing my stomach with my hands as I walk.
They give us the pain meds for good reason. One of our organs just got sliced in half and we got stabbed in the belly a whole bunch. It's okay to still rely on the medication to take the edge off, that's what it's there for. Also, if your body is tense and freaking out from being in pain, your body can't use that energy to also heal itself. Please be good to yourself, be careful, and get lots of rest and protein!

I haven't had surgery yet, but the nurse in me says you may need your pain meds. If you can't go, are you staying hydrated, my surgery packet said Constipation is made worse with dehydration. Lastly you might benefit from a heating pad. I am so sorry you feel badly. Praying and hoping you find relief.
