Lainybee1987 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Has anyone be re-sleeved? Revision ?!
    Sure,

i would not reccomebd resleeve my first sleeve I lost next to nothing and even early out I was starving ... etc no chance of goal or anywhere near it which was 10 stone .. other sleepers blaked me not the fact my surgery was to blame (was too large)

second sleeve I got to goal in 4 months .. 10 stone .. I'm now 7stone 9 .. feel unhealthy have constant IBS .. gas .. vomiting every other day .. it's a full time job to not lose weight I don't feel hunger and most food I detest now .. I was never fussy .. the Protein Bars and shakes make me sick now I can't tolerate even the thought of having one .. can't eat bread need soft foods to eat .. can still eat nuts and seeds ! Which is my saviour I hate meat!
I regret it as I look amazing but feel like crap ! Being skinny doesn't make up for being exhausted and sick 99% the time !

Lainybee1987 reacted to LeahG in 6 Months Post-Op...why Am I So Tired?!?!
Hi everyone! I haven't posted on here in awhile - just lurking. I will be six months post-op on Friday and am down 78 pounds...woohoo! But I AM SO TIRED!!! All of the time. I don't think a day goes by where I could say that I wasn't tired. I get a full 8 hours of sleep every night. I am eating on average about 600-800 calories daily, and I don't feel deprived whatsoever. I usually get in 60-70 grams of Protein a day and 30-40 grams of carbs. I use the elliptical 30 minutes 3x a week and burn 350-400 calories each time according to my HRM. I take my Vitamins and meds every day, including two Flintstones Complete with Iron, sublingual B12, Biotin, birth control, thyroid meds and Wellbutrin. I just had my thyroid levels tested two weeks ago and they are within normal limits. I had my full blood panel done in October (3 months out) and I'll be getting my 6 month labs done soon. 3 month lab results came back normal in all categories. Oh, and I gave blood last month and the nurse told me my Iron levels are "extraordinarily high" for a woman. I am out of ideas of why I am so exhausted. I think it's about nap time. lol
    HELPPP!

Friend of a friend of mine had the surgery and no issues with either not that I'm saying illegal drugs should ever be taken but no issues from what she told me.
    Drugs are bad mmmkay...
And I don't want any negative posts after this I've got two brothers and a sister all who had very bad drug addiction problems so I'm not going near the stuff. But if ur gonna take it ur gonna take it and my friend did not experience any additional complications or issues other than you'd normally get from taking drugs mixed in someone's bathtub and cut with flyspray (jks but seriously it could be).

I've never tried cocaine but I have this theory that the first time I would try it I would have a heart attack. It might be paranoia but I'm not willing to risk it. IMO your body has been put thru so much just by being sleeved and eating so little do you really think it's a good idea to put the added stress of a drug on top of that? Again I would worry about my heart handling the drug. Ive already put too much stress on it as it is by carrying so much weight for a long time. I'm feeling great and high on getting my life back right now the last thing I wanna do is die. I guess the best answer is be honest with your dr and ask what he/she thinks.

Ok I'm not saying you should do it, but I'm going to assume you are an adult capable of self-determination. If you do decide to do this, do your research first, real research, not asking a bunch of sleevers that may or may not have any concrete experience or advice. One thing to consider, neither drug must be taken orally to "reap the benefits", as it were.

It's not like people get addicted to ecstasy. It's the type of drug you wouldn't wanna be on all the time. I did quite a bit of it in high school. But it scares me now, you really never know what you're getting. If I really needed to do it again I would get pure MDMA made by a chemist.
Cocaine on the other hand could become an issue (I had a big problem with it for several years) and I won't ever touch it again.

Yes, I had an upper gi before leaving the hospital, heard the radiologist say there was no sign of a leak. I had the symptoms a week later. My surgeon said it could have been when I coughed hard, moved the wrong way,,it's just hard to tell..so baby your sleeve. (This was the case for me)

sometimes people only show symptoms weeks after when the stomach becomes less inflammed and then the leak shows up (as it was plugged from swelling previously).

I had a fever, nausea (no vomiting), stomach cramping, left shoulder pain (this can also be due to air left during surgery) and lightheadedness. Mine is a small leak and caught early.

My only symptom of my leak was left shoulder pain which was determined to be referred pain from the abscess pushing on my diaphragm. No fever, vomiting, anything. My shoulder pain came and went in the beginning but eventually stayed. Occasionally I would have mid left side pain but that was never confirmed as a symptom. Neither of these things were on my list of what to watch for. My doctor couldn't believe I wasn't sick with it. If something doesn't feel right, speak to your doctor until you are satisfied you have the right answer and treatment. Listen to your body.

I just spoke to my dr yesterday about this. He told me you will know if you have a leak it is not subtle and will not come and go it will get worse without medical attention. Dr said the symptoms are violently throwing up severe pain and fever!

Lainybee1987 reacted to DoubleA in Alcoholism or heavy drinking after being sleeved
Well, first of all thank you greatly for bringing this subject up on this forum. From my perspective I can tell you that because of the surgery I do NOT believe it is a "blip." Obviously you felt strong enough about the issue to reach out to others for support and with that being said please allow me to tell you my journey, where I'm currently at with alcohol, and what measures I am taking going forward to help myself.
I was sleeved 04/25/2013 and to be very honest, I had my first drink on 05/31/2013. I believed that because it was my "birthday" and I hadn't had a drink in 6 weeks, I was somehow justified. I can also tell you that prior to surgery I was a big social binge drinker however I also justified my actions then on the premise that it was only on the weekends and not during the week.
Prior to surgery when I completed my required psychological evaluation, the Therapist was very clear with me in telling me that weight loss surgery patients are at an extremely high risk for alcoholism. Yes, I do believe this can be from basically swapping out your eating addiction however I also will tell you its more than likely due to some type of trauma that has happened in your life.
I am now approximately 9 months out from surgery and I can tell you that my current alcohol consumption is spiraling out of control. I reached my goal weight at 6 months out and all but told myself I could keep drinking and it wouldn't hurt me much; that was and is a lie. Once your sleeved, alcohol not only has greater drunkenness effects on you, but also quicker damage happens to your liver and memory.
I have now begun seeing a therapist on a weekly basis and I believe this is key. Talking about any level of addictions and or relationship struggles after surgery is HUGE! Most of us were NOT mentally prepared to take on this extreme life change and it is vitally important to talk through things with a professional.
In the event you or anyone else on here can resonate with any of my entry here, please carefully seek out a therapist immediately. Do NOT wait like I did and then things become magnified.
Thanks for allowing me to contribute.

Lainybee1987 reacted to ekmw in Vegetarian or Vegan VSG ?
Vegans that force their animals to also be vegan piss me off and I want to turn them in for animal cruelty. Animal ARE NOT VEGANS!! Yes, they can eat some fruits and veggies, but their bodies are designed for meat and they need meat.< /p>
Just because you're vegan or vegetarian, it does not mean you don't have weight problems. Sometimes, the problems can be from health issues, such as thyroid problems. With me, they couldn't ever tell what my problem was, because I was eating healthy and all tha jazz. Now, a lot of my family has thyroid issues, and sometimes, you can have it and the tests say that you don't.
My doctor thought that could be the case.
Now, I'm not saying I was perfect on the vegetarian diet. I'd eat really awful foods and in bulk sometimes, such as breads and pastas. As everyone on this site knows, bread IS EVIL!!
After getting the VSG, I've ate a helluva lot better, and I'm trying to always eat better. After I got the surgery, I had to eat meat for awhile, but I ONLY ate chicken, turkey, and tuna from the can. Now, I do not eat ANY meat / fish at all. I have been considering drinking chicken broth for Protein, but it kinda feels like I'm cheating my vegetarian lifestyle.
Why did I ever choose to vegetarian? One summer, while I was staying with my older sister, I told her I was having stomach pains a lot, but that day I wasn't having any. She asked me what I normally ate when I had pains and what I ate that day. She pointed out how every time I mentioned I ate meat, my stomach hurt. My stomach didn't hurt, because on that day, I had not ate any meat products. She told me to try being vegetarian, and see if it helped with my stomach and digestion. In one week, I lost 8 lbs and my stomach / digestion felt SO much better.

Lainybee1987 reacted to Terribj in Eating Slowly after the sleeve
It takes your brain 20-25 minutes to register you are full. I try to eat slow so my brain can keep up with my stomach. I don't want to over eat and I'd like to feel full for as long as possible.
I don't like eating slow - i mean really - how long does it take one to eat 4 oz of food - most people that is two bites, for the rest of us it is the whole meal.
I do find it difficult to make 4 oz last 20-25 minutes but each meal I try. I notice the slower I eat the fuller I feel longer. As everything else everyone is different - find what works for you.

I have mentioned before how i find it difficult to eat slowly and think i pain i get just above where my stomach starts is because of eating to fast however this really does my head in even at nearly 6 mths out. So my question is when we have the gastric sleeve the only dynamics that change is the size of our stomach not where the food exits the esoephgus into the stomach, so if we measure why do we have to eat slow???
Would appreciate anyones reply but interested to here from vets when and if they can eat at a relatively normal pace and how far out you were....
I would feel so much better to eat my 'normal' pace

If I would have had a choice or knew to ask about it , I would have had it out at the time of my revision surgery. I went through hell with my gall bladder and it causing pancreatitis.
I didn't know about the weird color of poop. I thought that had something to do with being sleeved.I read that somewhere after I had my gall bladder out. I would have gone to the dr. a lot sooner if I knew that meant a gall bladder attack would be coming!

I'm just over 2 weeks out and I've gotta say, I'm miserable. I don't know if I've hit the depression stage or what but I keep asking why I did this to myself. I was working out every day and had lost 25lbs on my own before surgery and kept telling myself the sleeve was a preventative measure to keep myself from getting that fluffy again. Now I can't stop thinking that I ruined my life (as I knew it). Of course, prior to May I wasn't working out and wasn't watching my intake, which is why I got up to 240lbs. But in the last 3 months I took control and really thought the sleeve would be my new best friend like everyone on here seems to say. So did you ever have any regrets? I've heard the "my only regret is not getting it sooner" but please save that response. I want to know about real regrets. If you had/have them, how and when did you get past it? When will I start to be okay with my sleeve and not feel like I'll never be "normal" again?
