  1. This is kind of a hard one, i'm not sure exactly what to suggest that best suits your lifestyle. So far i think you're doing great with the semi liquid diet. If you are able to maybe just light walking around the house for 20 min before bed. Or possibly water aerobics. But it honestly sounds like you're doing everything else right! Best of luck to you.
  2. Try counting your macro nutrients (not just calories) and drink tons of water. Get in the habit of working out at least 3x per week. Start at whatever level you're comfortable with. You can also try a pre-op liquid diet for 2 weeks. But whatever you do eat, make sure it's protein rich, very low carbs and 5g of sugar or less. It sounds like you're on track though, the more you stress, the more the pounds stay where they are so also try things to clear your head and make you feel better mentally.
  3. That's exactly how my own family reacted. I didn't tell them until the day before.
  4. Anytime- if you do have specific questions, feel free to send me a private message and i'll try my best to help get you through. There's nothing to be nervous about, time will fly and you'll be amazed and your progress this time next year.
  5. Tip 1: stay busy- the more stuff you're doing the less you think about food, this can transfer post op too Tip 2: stay hydrated drink as much water as you can, you'll have to do that anyway but it also keeps you feeling full. As far as shakes taste- go with whatever you want now in small quantities because your taste buds might change dramatically, so what you're drinking pre-op may not be palleteable post op and vice versa.
  6. No you won't get denied, insurance companies actually like to see you losing weight prior to surgery, it shows that you are taking this seriously. 6 months is just a requirement some insurance companies have, some do not. But the additional diet courses are well worth it. At the end of the day it's extra knowledge and knowledge is always power.
  7. Nope, you have other co-morbidities. So just go for it, it's not about being super tiny, it's about feeling your best and being the healthiest you can be. The choice is always yours but given what you just said all of those other health problems would go away if you had the surgery. You've already come this far. I had to actually eat myself to the appropriate BMI in order to get my insurance to cover it, because i did not have any other health problems. But it was the best decision i've ever made for myself, 1 year later and i couldn't be healthier and happier. It changed my life, and i wouldn't call it a drastic change. You would be bettering yourself.
  8. Your recovery will be fine. Don't focus to much on protein the first few days, because you will have no appetite and might struggle with liquids. Just focus on staying hydrated as best you can and walking every hour to get the gas pressure to move.
  9. Yesss!!! Congrats. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Don't forget to get up and walk every hour to get rid of the gas pressure.
  10. Totally forgot to mention that just because we aren't telling the world doesn't mean it's truly a secret. I'm very open and transparent amongst the bariatric community, so much so that i volunteer and mentor patients at my local bariatric surgery center. And i'm in 4 support groups online, trying to help others going through the process. I'm willing to help them in any way possible. I just get easily annoyed with random strangers asking me to many questions lol, when they have nothing positive to gain from it. So people know but it's who i chose to inform.
  11. Yes you need breakfast. Simple and plain. I'm not a breakfast eater i hate it, but i know i have to so i do it. It regulates your metabolism you know when to eat again due to hunger, not boredom. And it gives you the nutrition you need to keep going. Without it, i would have no energy in the am.
  12. It does. But once you actually have the surgery your whole entire outlook on food will change anf your appetite will go away. It's funny because pre-op everyone dreds the liquid diet but the first few weeks post op, you won't even be thinking about food. It will seem like a chore to eat.
  13. Walk every hour to get rid of the gas pressure
  14. Yes that happens to almost everyone, myself included and i love it. It keeps me on track, and away from the food that got me into this mess in the first place
  15. I absolutely love these questions. It's simple, we just don't want anyone in our business. The last thing i care to hear is have everyone in my life watch me like a hawk to see how much i've lost, or what i'm eating like i'm a freaking alien. Plus if i hear someone judge me and tell me i'm taking the easy way out, i'll have quite a few words for them too. Give me credit for something positive instead like taking control of my life back, eating right, working out like crazy. If those things alone were easy, obesity wouldn't be such a problem. Plus it also affects some of my friendships too from a jealousy perspective.
  16. You're not messing up but obviously don't eat it. Have a protein shake instead. Jello is literally just to make you think you're eating on a liquid diet, its not like it's an important weight loss food.
  17. Phone charger and chapstick. If you like watching Tv maybe an ipad but you won't need anything else. It's one day, 2 tops lol.
  18. Protein jello, sugar free popscicles, sugar free pudding, and soup. Ask your nut if you're allowed some soft protein rich foods like yogurt or string cheese.
  19. I kept mine private. I had one co worker ask me because she saw a difference but i barely know her so i told her a partial truth, i watch what i eat and workout like crazy, which is exactly what i'm doing. She was asking because she also wanted to lose weight so i told her what i eat and what workouts i do. But the surgery part is my own business, i did tell her portion control is everything. Personally i just don't want people in my business. I'm not ashamed of it by any means but i do want credit for all the hard work i've put in to look this good and maintain it.
  20. Best of luck!!! I had mine 12/20 of last year
  21. You won't look sick. Tbh your goal weight can often change it might be more or less than what you expected, it depends on where you feel most comfortable. Your current goal is definitely do-able. I would strongly suggest weight training so you look toned after the fact. Hair loss happens for some not all, it has not happened to me at all. Biotin helps, you can actually start that now, and make sure you're hitting your protein goals, that helps too. The biggest thing really is just follow your nutritionist guidelines. It's 70% diet, 30% exercise. You'll do great!!
