  1. Yeah that's definitely my family too. Everyone in my family has large breasts too, ranging from FF -J cups. Some had breast reductions but due to back pain. They were all also smaller in frame. I haven't talked to them about it, maybe i should.
  2. Thank you. It's just so hard finding winter coats and things like that, that actually zip up all the way. But i think i would miss them if i got rid of them too.
  3. Thank you for this!!! I needed to hear that perspective.
  4. That's a good point. I definitely don't want to ever offend anyone.

    What's wrong with me?

Lol. I think as long as you're aware of what you're eating and pre-portioning your meals. Taking them with you ahead of time and pre- packing your gym bag so you know you have to go to the gym. I think you will be just fine. As long as you know the nutrition content of exactly what your eating so slider foods don't sneak up on you. You should be fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with you at all. Now also keep in mind that emotional eating comes in various degrees too. It doesn't have to be an all the time thing where you would even notice it. It could be something as minor as being stressed out one month so you gravitate more towards doughnuts or something vs eggs. (Just an example) it could be something on and off so you may not be aware. In my case i never thought of myself as an emotional eater at all. I literally was over weight because unhealthy food tasted better at the time than salad so i was making poor choices. But post op even i had a stressful month where i slipped and slowly started making poor choices again. Got myself back on track, but i guess what i'm trying to say is it doesn't have to be a constant noticeable or even traumatic event that does cause that.
  6. What made you decide to do that? And did you lose any more weight afterwards? Were there any other major side effects?
  7. I'm so looking forward to everyone's answers. What made you decide to finally take your life back and have weight loss surgery? Was it for health reasons or for more emotional reasons? Was it one major incident or was a combination of things? I will share my own turning point in the comments section.
  8. Thank you all for sharing. I realize this is a touchy emotional subject for most of us. Everyone had great responses and i love how open everyone was to sharing. I think many of us can relate to your reasons for deciding to go down the wls route. Best of luck to everyone on your journey. I just realized that i totally forgot to post my own reason (which seems so minor and insignificant compared to everyone else). I chose the weight loss surgery route because a switch went off in my head one day. Long story short: my office had just moved into a new secured building and the elevator was broken. I had to go up 7 flights of stairs with my laptop bag and honestly i was so out of shape and out of breath that i thought i was going to die. To make matters worse i wasn't by myself i was walking up with a co worker twice my age and twice my size and he was just fine. In that moment, i realized it was all down hill from there health wise and i had to do something to get the weight off and keep it off. I honestly just felt like it was to much weight for my frame and i didn't want to have other health problems or pain. I just wish i had done something about it sooner. I think because my weight never affected my self esteem, i chose to ignore it for so long. I needed that moment to be mentally ready for this journey.
  9. I love this!!! Thank you so much for sharing and being so open. Love all your posts btw. I'm proud of you for making that decision! And congrats on 5 years of being cancer free.
  10. It's not shallow. I think secretly everyone wishes they could fit into super cute clothes.
  11. I can totally relate to this. Great post! Thanks for sharing, i'm so glad you're on track and healthy.
  12. That was so inspiring. I'm glad you've already hit your goal weight too!
  13. Yay!!! Congrats on not needing your meds anymore. So proud!
  14. Wow that is so moving. Congrats on taking your life back. I'm wishing you all the best and a safe recovery tomorrow.
  15. I can def relate. I'm a food snob too. I just refuse to waste my money and my 4oz per meal on crappy food lol. It's not worth it.
  16. Yesss!!! I love this sooo much. I'm doing the same thing.
  17. 1. Don't stress. I'm constantly seeing people compare their progress to others and honestly who cares, as long as you stay focused, you will definitely get to where you need to be. So enjoy it. 2. Fix all of your emotional mental issues- if you're able to figure out why you were eating the way you were before, or even re build broken confidence during the process it will help tremendously and prevent you from falling off the wagon. This whole process is mostly mental. Sometimes that may even be as extreme as cutting off people in your life who aren't where you are mentally or not supportive. 3. Be your own boss. Don't do anything you don't want to do. For example, i despise boring cardio and "bariatric specific shakes" i hate how they taste. So i avoid both at all costs. I truly enjoy all of my new found healthy foods. I enjoy working out too, its now my stress reliever. I do things like boxing and weight lifting or swimming because i actually like it. If you love what you're doing and view it as a hobby instead of a chore you will most definitely be more successful. Take constant full body selfies even if you don't like where you are physically yet, seeing that will remind you of how far you've come and you won't want to go back. I hope that helps someone. I made a post a long time ago with a million tips that helped me.

    Trying on smaller sizes

If they don't fit, don't stress because you'll get there in time. I started trying on new clothes immediately because it was fun to see me start shrinking.

    Non supportive support system

I definitely had this problem. I even wrote a post on it when i first joined this group awhile back. The first thing you have to do is get people out of your business. If you don't want them to comment, simply don't tell them what you're doing. Because reality is you're going to have to eat better and exercise anyway so don't tell anyone anf get the credit for that. Those people are now going assume you're taking the easy way out, when you aren't. My dad was like that and i literally didn't tell him until the day before. And that entire day he tried to talk me out of it, the idea of surgery scared him. I understood that, but i couldn't get him to understand why i was still making my choice so did what i wanted. You will find support through these groups and also through workout classes and so on. You'll meet new people that will have no clue you had weight loss surgery, they just see you trying to be healthy and it will help a lot. Stay positive and stay focused.

    I'm completely lost

Hey girlie, i live in maryland. I have cigna so my process was different. I honestly don't think any of the state insurance programs cover bariatric surgery. What i would suggest, is call your surgeon's office directly and ask to speak to their billing coordinator. They would be able to tell you if your insurance is accepted and how much you would owe out of pocket. Who was your surgeon btw?

    Vitamin Option

I freaking love this thing and if you follow them on facebook they pretty much always have the dispenser on sale at 50% off
  22. You're right. I only ever post from the app and you can't change it from the app. I'm post op, had surgery awhile ago. I post so much that most people know that but i totally get why that would be confusing for some.
