  4. Well I'm in the pre-stage and I guess several family members and really close friends tried to convince me not to have it done. The closer it gets to my surgery they all seem to be coming around but I don't know I just hope that my pre warning them that I'm still going to need their support and love. So far they all seem to be on board even if they still don't agree. My husband didn't really get why I would have it but the more research I shared with him the more involved he became. I think in time people come around. Maybe your friends issue isn't even you at all. Maybe it's her own self esteem. I keep encouraging my family and friends to do clean eating with me after surgery. Trying to include them in my change because regardless of how our appearance changes our hearts never will. They just need to know that. Ask her why she's acting differently. 7. Just curious how much is the Bypass vs the Sleeve? I'm asking because they are changing my request from the Sleeve to the Bypass. The insurance company covers both but it just needs to be approved. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. I mean if he was already in the extracting my wisdom teeth then there had to be a way to take out that darn sweet tooth! Lol So I am the person that silently throws darts at the person in the room that says "I have never been big on sweets" I'm always like "Dude, did your mother make you suck on lines with your Similac?" Well I'm trying to cut back and off of sweets. My pre-opp appointment is next Monday so I'm sure I'm going to be told when my "new normal" eating should begin. I just don't want to shock my system but slowly ease into not eating sweets ever again in life. But today I am struggling and it's the first day that I'm starting. Yeah Breakfast was a bust. IHOP French toast. lunch was Soup and dinner is stew but I really want to go to 7 Eleven and grab a "Big Kat" kit kat bar!!! What can you guys tell me on how to deal with this? How bad can dumping be? I mean I've been dumping my whole life is it nothing like what they talk about? Any vets out there? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  14. I was 2/1 but they had an OR conflict so they changed it to the 6th but then I decided that I wanted RNY instead of the Sleeve so now they are hoping I will not need another surgery date change. I am so excited!!!! I can't wait!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I just read a response from someone on my thread who said that Bypass and Sleeve choices should be a personal choice and they really were right about that! Lol I just wish I had of seen that bit of advice when texting to my sister in-law who will be sleeved on 1/31 and she wanted to know why the Bypass for me since again "you're not that big" so I listed my reasons to the Bypass vs the sleeve for ME and she stopped texting. I'm not saying that the Sleeve is a bad choice but I know of a few people who have been sleeved and two years later they want a revision and they are trying to get approvals or they are trying to diet like they did post opp and losing the battle. I have heard from several people that they wish that they would of had the RNY over the Sleeve but I have never heard or seen anyone post about having the RNY and wishing that they had Sleeved instead... So my pre-opp appointment will be 1/16 and I will ask the surgeon about the mini RNY as well. I love this site. I haven't even been on Facebook as much!! Lol Thank you all for your comments and truths. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. This was something my grandfather use to say to me growing up. I keep reminding myself this when I start to become scared about having the surgery. I am still waiting to hear back from my surgeons office on what surgery would be best for me to have (Bypass or Sleeve) considering some medicines that I have to take. Then reading some post about the pain and suffering from having one or the other during recovery. But I always fall to sleep at night thinking about the transformation of the butterfly. Then I realize that I'm ready to shed this cocoon and live a healthy and full life. Both of my grandmothers lived to see 90! One past away at 92 and the other is still bossing us all around at 94! We buried a great uncle last month and he was 101!! So I'm prone to have a long life but I also want to live it and not just exists in it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. I'm Feb 6th as well! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Hi everyone! I up at 3:30 and must be to work at 8 AM! But I can't sleep. My surgery date was originally for February 1st but scheduling conflict it was changed to the 6th. I freaked out on having the Sleeve and called to ask if I can have the Bypass instead. Well they are working in making that change and hoping I can still keep my original date. I am 240 lbs at 5'5 I have sleep apnea, PCOS and Fibromyalgia not to mention rheumatoid arthritis.... I just turned 40!!!!! This extra weight has had me out and about at the mall and worried about how I'm going to make it to my car because I am so out of breath. I have had my big friends and family tell me I'm not that big. I'm taking the easy way out. But then one admitted to wanting to do it as well after baby #4 and a coworker who frowned and said all the negative wanted to know how it all worked with our insurance because she was thinking about having it. I have also had supportive family members who just don't know what to say other than "you are going to be skinny!" My boss is all of 100 lbs wet at 4'11 and she is so dead set against it because I'm not that big. She has said this so much that I have stopped wearing a spanx to work! Now she blames it in everything I think I want to eat! She's all about herbal medicine. Meanwhile I'm worried about if I can take Cymbalta with the Bypass or should I go back to the Sleeve? I'm worried about losing my hair... I have dread locs! The last thing I need is to look like Stevie Wonder!!!Lol But I do know that I want this surgery! I just don't know which one to have. It feels like Election Day 2008 all over again!!!! Lol Ok I'm getting sleepy but advice is welcomed.... thank you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. A friend of mine had the sleeve and she swears that the Bypass is NOT reversible. How true is that? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. So what was your deciding factor to have the Bypass over the sleeve surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. So what made you decide to have the sleeve surgery vs. Bypass? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Awesome!! How do you feel? What was your reason for changing the procedure? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I have decided to go with the Bypass over the sleeve as well. But this was because I was under the impression that it was reversible. Now a friend who had the sleeve is saying that it's not? I just don't know anymore. ☹️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. How was your surgery? Mine is set up for 2/6 but I told them I may want the Gastric bypass over the sleeve. So I'm not sure how. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. So I have been back and forth from making the decision on if I should have the Sleeve or the Roux Y Gastric Bypass surgery. Finally after much debating and interviewing family and friends who have had one or the other I made the choice. My surgery is/was set for Feb 6 for the Sleeve but I am going to call them tomorrow to change my procedure. I also found that my surgeon has been a pro and has had way more experience with the RYG Bypass even having it done himself. So I am hoping that this doesn't change my surgery date and that my insurance (that actually sucks because it rolled over Jan 1 vs August like I was told) will cover it and etc... I am thanking all of you for being so transparent on these post and helping me make the decision I need. Someone even said "It's your body and your choice!" This was very encouraging. So I'm going to call tomorrow to see if I can have everything changed around. Thank you all so much again!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
