  1. I had gastric bypass Jan 18. My highest weight was 235. My day of surgery I weighed 192. My current weight today is 136. Boy has it been a journey of ups and downs but well worth it. I will however be getting plastics in the near future. I went from a 38 DDD to a b cup full of skin YUCK! IMG_0960.thumb.PNG.752d1a63cfaa51034f7680753fc5b5fd.PNG

  2. I'm so sorry you are being treated like that, it's not okay. Yes, I had a uncontrollable high blood pressure. Maybe just call the bariatric clinic at the med center and see if they have any suggestions for you. It really sucks that professionals think they can treat you that way.

One of the nurses that cared for me after my surgery actually referred me for a job and I started working at Nebraska Medicine in March after my surgery. So I guess I'm kind of partial. But it a wonderful hospital and I've only ever encountered the best of the best there!

Wishing you lots of luck. And if you have any questions at all don't be shy 😉

  3. Hi I am also in Omaha Ne. Have you thought of switching your care to Nebraska Medicine? The staff there are excellent. Dr. McBride did my surgery Jan 18. The whole experience from start to finish was outstanding. At the time I had Medicaid. I did 6 months of supervised diet and then my surgery. I had the gastric bypass. When my surgery was first submitted to Medicaid it was denied. Dr McBride did a peer to peer with the insurance company and they overturned it the next day! I was scheduled and in surgery two weeks later.

  4. Are they the chewy bites vs chewables? In the chewy bites I have tried the dark cherry, strawberry watermelon, and Carmel are great! The coconut was decent but not as good as the above. I was told you can't take 2 at the same time because your body only has capacity to absorb one at a time which is why they say take one every 2 hours.

    OK
Yes they are the chewy ones. I don't like them because it feels like it takes me forever to chew them down and I don't care for the taste it leaves in my mouth.

  5. Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share something with you all that will hopefully be helpful to those who haven't had surgery yet, or to those who are post op and need to be encouraged to get all of their liquids in each day (64 ounces or more per day).

I made a post on here several days ago, I was concerned about dizzy spells that I was having. I wound up going to the doctor this past Thursday because of the dizziness. My blood pressure was fairly low (for me anyway)-- 96/70. I am 13 weeks post op and my blood pressure is usually up around 125/75.

I remember my surgeon and nutritionist stressing from the very beginning how important it was to get in your liquids everyday. So I had been making a point to do that, and since the very beginning, I had no trouble getting in about 76 ounces a day. However, within the last couple of weeks there were a few days I had unintentionally slacked off some. I was finding that food and drink were filling me up more than usual, and by 7 p.m. each night, I could literally not drink any more liquids.

So, after my doctor's appointment Thursday, things started going downhill. I went out grocery shopping Friday and when I got home, I was incredibly fatigued, I have never felt so rotten. It was like a ten ton truck had run me over. On top of that, I was dizzy, my blood pressure was low and I had a horrible headache. ALL of these problems continued through the weekend. I called my doctor's office this morning and they said to go to the ER. I just got home from the ER. They did an EKG, scan, bloodwork and gave me IV fluids. I found out that I have a urinary tract infection and that I was mildly dehydrated. Instructions are antibiotics for the infection and to drink more fluids.

I want to say that I only got "off program" with my liquids for a few days. You just can't do that. It is SO IMPORTANT to get your fluids! Luckily, my case was mild dehydration and a UTI, which is no fun. But others have become dehydrated to the point where it can cause even worse problems and it can land you in the hospital for days if you don't stay on top of it!

Sip, sip, sip! Don't forget to drink!

I agree with you. I'm one of those who likes to know the why's of things. I'm curious...Why does dehydration get so serious for us so quickly after bariatric surgery as opposed to before?

  6. Below is just a snippet of some of our conversations about my journey. She is very unsupportive and it's hard to ignore. She is my best friend. I share everything with her and it's hard to not share this with her but when I do share she is beyond unsupportive. ☹️

I'm so sorry. That is not OK. You need supportive people in your life. Do what makes you happy, what you know is good for yourself. I would consider taking a break from the friendship. I can't imagine how her attitude will be after you have surgery.

  7. @@Jazzzyjay feel the same way! I think we had surgery the same day. 1-18? Right now I just snapped at my husband, then started crying! He looked at me like I had lost it. And I have to go back to work Monday. Lol. I know it will get better though.

1-17 was mine. The only part that feels "normal" about these roller coaster emotions is knowing I am not alone. Last night I spent my entire night crying until I fell asleep. When I woke up I cried for another couple hours. It really sucks. I wonder how long does this last?

  8. Sounds like some of you are at the beginning stage like me. I am 7 days post op. I don't really post on here, I like reading the posts from others. It does help. Anyway, my question is about early stages of weight loss. I think I've only lost maybe 5 lbs. guess it just seems like I should've lost more after not eating for a week. Can someone share their experiences with me or tell me that I shouldn't be worried about it right now OR am I doing something wrong? Think my nerves are getting the best of me. Thank you for anyone that can help me.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Your body will let go of it. Some just loose at a slower pace. I'm 15 days post op and have lost 10 pounds. I'm not really worried because I know I'm doing everything right ...Getting in my Protein, Water, Vitamins and walking an hour a day. Good luck! You are doing fine.
