youre a year or more out from surgery and throwing up multiple times or at all even? You need to see your surgeon. No its definitely not normal.

I worked with a trainer, and when she got bumped up to be the manager, she set me up with another trainer. Love 'em both -- the place I go is hospital affiliated and I have the sense that the people who work there are really invested in my health. Doesn't make doing 100 hip lifts easier, but it's nice knowing they care!

Today, Day 32 post-op, I got in all of my Protein with NO Protein SHAKES! I was able to add fish today (salmon specifically), so that did the trick. And I got to 900 calories for the first time. It took me 14 hours of eating and drinking to get everything in and account for the 30 minutes before/after eating "no water" periods. I got in 910 calories, 17 carbs, and 90 grams of protein.
I'm sure there will be days when I have to have Protein shakes for one reason or another, but I am going to Celebrate the fact that I am finally in a place where I won't have to rely on them every day!
    Onward!!

I was paralyzed in an accident 5 years ago, I am still paralyzed, durining the 5 years weight crept on and made my life even more difficult. I decided to do the bariatric sleeve. I looked at hospitals in Thailand, Mexico and India. Mexico was closest so I picked Mexico. I wish I went with India. Mexico had me scheduled out of hospital within 24 hrs, India asked me to stay 10 (same price). They gave me a link with super basic food info. Said I can take any meds I want. I am scrambling to find out when I should be feeling (my left side is in pain and I am suffering severe orthostatic hypotension) the team here in Mexico just seemed to want me out out out. I paid for an extra day. My bill has gone up from $4800 quote to $6000. With no support. So I am hoping to gleen some guidance from you all here! I am on day 5 and only had chicken stock, juice and Water. I am a little hungry but can handle 2 more days. I can't move so I am always in great discomfort. I fly tomorrow and and worried about how I will manage. I worry I won't have enough care at home (I live alone) Day 7 what can I eat? Day 14 what can I eat?
I am 5'8 210lbs and hope to get down to 150 and start my journey of rehab in hopes to walk, or at least stand one day.

kathy Garibay reacted to Bufflehead in What has been the hardest part of your journey thus far?
For me the early portion of post-op and weight loss mode really wasn't hard. The weight fell off like magic, I got compliments all the time, I got to buy cute new clothes, I felt fantastic. I didn't have any complications and didn't experience any depression or regret or anxiety after the surgery.
Things got hard for me when I had to lose the last few pounds and transition into maintenance. I had been in denial about some things -- though I would have parroted back some wls sayings to you and swore that I believed them, things like "you have to change your relationship with food" and "you have to commit to this for the rest of your life." As I got closer to maintenance and then into maintenance, I realized that:
--I would have to work hard to maintain my new weight for the rest of my life, for real
--The way I ate in weight loss mode would be very very similar to the way I would have to eat for the rest of my life
--I would not be able to "eat what I want in moderation" and still be successful at maintenance
--I would not be able to have anything like a regular cheat/self-sabotage day or meal in maintenance and still be successful
All of these things did kind of put me in a tailspin. I basically gave up because I just felt defeated -- right at the time I should have been feeling triumphant! I ended up re-gaining about 20 lbs right after I hit my goal weight.
I managed to turn myself around, gave myself a good talking-to about the idiocy of feeling sorry for myself, and worked hard to get those 20 lbs off again.

@@hbrhonda surprisingly that was the one thing i never even thought about. But i'm sure i will right after my surgery.
@@Icantbelieveit oh wow, so it wasn't the types of food you were eating, just the portions that were causing anxiety? For me i think it will be a huge adjustment to realize that i can longer have some of my favorite foods. Because i just don't need them.

Right after surgery 2-3 days, you have the overwhelming sense of loss. That maybe they took too much stomach, that there is no turning back, that you are gonna die. But it does go away. That was the worst part for me.

I had surgery on Aug. 19. The first month was a huge struggle -- all I wanted to do was sleep, I had to force myself to eat and drink and I had a few complications as well. (Anyone else experience the insane itching that happens when your body is depleted of oils?) Things are going much better now, although I'm still forcing myself to eat and I'm not getting enough Protein. Day by day ... take it day by day.

I had my gastric bypass on July 19 the day before my 63rd birthday. I was just ready to spend my life a little smaller. I was tired of my back and knees killing me everyday.
I started this journey at 334 pounds the day of my surgery. I had my 3 month follow up visit last week and had lost 60 pounds. My knees and back do not hurt right now. I can bend down and pick something off the floor and to do that before was really rough.
Right now my biggest challenge is to eat slower and chew chew chew. If you eat to fast the pain will start and you will get the mucus foamies. You probably won't feel better until you bring it up. Remember if you overeat you can stretch your pouch.
Remember to eat meat first and vegetables second. You need that Protein. It also helps you lose weight. Keep the carbs down. My doctor says less than 60g of carb and more than 60-80g of Protein.< /p>

I don't think you need to tell them that you have had surgery. If you are worried about what reaction you might receive, you may just tell them that you have lost a large amount of weight a heads up on what to expect. Some may have a problem, others will not.

2 weeks out, soft foods for a week now. Tried to eat some soft chicken yesterday. The first time I thought I was gonna die for the pain. Just a couple bites. So that was lunch. I went back to my full liquids. Today my new best friend tuna said oh no. 2 bites and uncomfortable, not dieing but ouch. So back to full liquids.
Anyone else experience this. I was fine all week eating whatever was on my plan.
